Baby Flower
A month had elapsed, and Drew’s leg had significantly improved under the guidance of his therapist. He seldom ventured beyond the confines of their home, primarily dedicating his time to recovery, even though he occasionally attended business meetings.
While Lily attended school, Orion took charge of her safety, and a new security guard now kept a watchful eye on Drew.
Upon her return from school, Lily was startled to encounter an attractive woman exiting their residence. She furrowed her brow and scrutinized the woman, unable to shake the unsettling notion that the woman’s intentions might not be entirely innocent. The woman’s strong resemblance to the people Drew used to be associated with caused unease in her heart.
“Hi! You must be Mrs. Walton,” she said, teasingly smiling. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
“Yes, I am. And you are…” Lily asked, her curiosity piqued.
“Jenny Cordova. I am Drew’s new secretary. I brought and took some documents for him.”
‘Cordova?’ Is the woman related to Jericho Cordova? However, since the woman worked for Drew, Lily was slightly reassured. It just so happened that Lily had already met Sarah and was aware that Drew had no romantic intentions toward his assistant.
And yet, this woman…
“Okay… Your boss is still recuperating. He’ll be back at the office soon.”
The woman passed by Lily, but it was a brief moment before she turned to face Lily once again. “Ah, yeah… I heard that Master Walton arranged your marriage.”
Lily’s expression darkened even further. “What do you mean by that, exactly?”
“Nothing. I didn’t expect Drew to have a wife. Especially since-” She cast a thoughtful glance over at Lily.
Jenny relayed the same message as the woman who had visited Lily months ago. There was no doubt that Drew was familiar with this secretary. Could she have been one of Drew’s past acquaintances? Despite her suspicions, Lily felt uneasy about the secretary’s presence. Did she come across as uninteresting in the eyes of these women?
She didn’t mind portraying herself as modest as long as nobody saw her as a dull, fortunate soul who had merely lucked into marrying Drew.
With an indifferent expression, Lily said, “You speak as if you know my husband quite well.”
Jenny’s lips curled up at the corner. “Yes, I do. I won’t deny that we were involved in the past, and I had intended to join Drew’s office to regain his attention. I was very familiar with all his characteristics.”
Lily squeezed her hand in silence. She felt humiliated, recalling how Drew rejected and criticized her appearance. These women, representing the type her husband had been involved with, clearly differed from her.
“I know his preferences in bed. Uhmm…” Jenny bit her lip, rubbing her own breasts as she moaned provocatively.
‘Who is this woman?’ Lily was deeply concerned about her words and actions.
“I’m really disappointed if this is the kind of woman Drew had in the past. Tshk!”
Jenny’s face flushed with rage. “I’ll definitely get him one day, I promise! You’ll cry pathetically!”
Lily smiled at the woman, her eyes narrowing. Was she declaring war?
“Unfortunately, you only know his preferences. Do you understand the feeling when you see a familiar ice cream but can’t even have a lick? That’s you. Crave all you want! I relish the title of Mrs. Walton, and technically, I am your boss. Consider yourself fortunate that I don’t mind keeping an eye on my husband. Just be cautious not to strain your eyes from excessive monitoring.”
“You-!”
Lily walked past the woman. “Goodbye!”
After passing Jenny, she rolled her eyes, her expression turning sour. “I won’t take you outside anymore. Just ensure you don’t steal anything because we have surveillance cameras here. And next time, dress warmly, as I wouldn’t want the Walton Group to be held responsible for your foolishness if you catch a cold.”
Lily overheard the furious woman stomping away, but she no longer cared about Jenny.
She found Drew sitting on the colorful couch.
“Hey, babe!”
She passed her husband without glancing at him. It was the first time she had done so, but what else could she do? After encountering his former acquaintance, she wasn’t in the mood to talk to him. She was furious!
Once she reached her room, she let out a deep sigh. She realized her confidence had improved after the confrontation with Kenneth last month. Suddenly, the door to her room swung open.
“Hey! What do you mean by that?” Drew asked, wearing a puzzled expression.
She shot a sharp glare in his direction. “Nothing! Go away! I’m going to change into new clothes.”
His eyebrows raised. “I’ve already seen your body.”
“I don’t care! Go away!”
“Hmmm… Lily. You’ve grown bolder. I want you to be like that, but I’m not sure if I’d be happy if you dared to ask me to leave this room without giving me an answer. What have I done?” Instead of departing, Drew moved closer and placed his hand on her waist.
“I said nothing! Shooo!”
His arms tightened around her waist as his nose brushed against her neck. “But your bitter expression reveals the truth; you forgot my kiss and managed to shoot me a nasty look.”
He was touching her neck with his lips, which gave her a peculiar sense of tension and prevented her from responding. “I have to teach you a lesson…”
Lily’s lips quivered when his hand slithered inside her pants. She now questioned whether this was the reason his ex-rented women were appearing.
“Stop it! I’m pissed.”
Drew confronted her. “Why?”
“The woman earlier…”
That remark elicited a big grin and an accusing stare from him. “You were jealous.”
“I’m not! I said I’m pissed!”
“My baby little flower is jealous,” he playfully declared, giving her a simple kiss on the lips. His playful eyes held a hint of accusation, and she couldn’t bear it.
Lily blushed as she smiled, not because of the kisses he bestowed upon her or because she agreed with his assertion that she was jealous. He called her ‘my baby little flower.’
It’s sweet… For a moment, she forgot about the secretary and their interaction.
“You don’t need to worry about those women approaching me, babe. I value our relationship.”
Would she feel more at ease knowing that her husband always had Jenny Cordova in his presence in the office?
It made her sad. Everything Drew did was for her benefit. He demonstrated his willingness to take action to protect her. But where did this relationship lead?
“I’ll keep my promise to remain loyal to our marriage until the end of the year.”
His words felt like a cold shower. They simply confirmed his intent to honor their mutual decision – to go their separate ways after a year. How many months were left? Nine months?
“What if I don’t want to leave this home?”
“I’ll give you this home.”
Lily smiled wistfully. She didn’t receive the response she had hoped for, but she did gain insight into what was on Drew’s mind.
She gently held her husband’s cheek, looking at him with sadness. Nine months… Only nine months remained for her to understand his feelings truly.
When her phone rang, Danica’s name appeared on the screen. She planned to meet with her over the weekend for a project.
“I’ll follow you downstairs. I need to change, then I’ll prepare our meal.”
“You’re not jealous anymore?”
“I told you I’m not jealous!”
Drew chuckled. “I’ll wait for you, my baby little flower,” he mumbled before giving her a wink.
It entertained Lily. Her bond with Drew grew more substantial, and she remained confident that he would fully accept her. They had only been together for three months, but she believed it would endure forever.
She read Danica’s message but was taken aback by its contents, nearly dropping her phone in surprise.
Danica: Meet my boyfriend. After a month of not seeing each other, he promised to accompany me on the weekend. You two will definitely get along.
Attached to Danica’s message was a picture of her with Brian-one of Kenneth’s friends!
Lily trembled as she felt these men were determined not to let her be at peace.
Did Danica play a prank on her? Did she know about her past involvement with Brian?
