Chapter 1267
"Is Miss Lydia home?" Mrs. Perez asked, glancing past the housekeeper into the foyer.
Mrs. Lucy froze for a moment, hastily wiping her hands, clearly taken aback. Mrs. Perez had never visited before, making her appearance all the more surprising.
Lydia, who hadn't gone to the office that day, overheard and hurried to the front door. Seeing Mrs. Perez there in person, she was just as startled. "Mrs. Perez? Oh, wait... Mrs. Lucy, please, let her in."
Lydia rushed to tidy up, feeling slightly flustered. The house wasn't often used for entertaining guests, and she even had trouble finding tea. Despite her best efforts, she didn't have much experience making tea and fumbled through it, struggling to figure out what she was doing.
In the end, the tea didn't quite turn out as it should have.
"Here you go, Mrs. Perez," Lydia offered, handing her the cup carefully.
Mrs. Perez glanced at it briefly, hiding her disdain. Both she and Mr. Perez were long-time educators, and he had a particular love for fine tea. It only took a glance for her to judge the tea Lydia had made.
Without showing her true feelings, Mrs. Perez nudged the cup aside slightly. "No need to go through all this trouble. I just came by to check on you. Oh, and you haven't eaten yet, have you?"
When Lydia shook her head, Mrs. Perez got up, ready to head into the kitchen and whip up a meal herself.
Lydia immediately rushed to stop her, as did Mrs. Lucy. Between the two of them, they managed to gently but firmly dissuade Mrs. Perez from cooking.
Mrs. Perez seemed slightly put off but smiled playfully, "Well, it's getting harder these days to even make a meal. But no worries, I'll have another chance in the future."
After chatting for a while about nothing in particular, Mrs. Perez finally left in the early evening.
As Mrs. Lucy cleared the table, she couldn't help but comment, "You know, Mrs. Perez seemed pretty easygoing today. You're lucky to have such a kind mother-in-law! Back in my day, mothers-in-law were much harsher. "Really, ma'am, you're blessed. You have such a good husband and now such a nice mother-in-law. You're bound to have a very happy future!"

Meanwhile, as Mrs. Perez returned home, Mr. Perez asked, "Where were you today?" Taking off her shoes by the door, Mrs. Perez responded, "I went to check on Lydia." "What? You were never fond of that girl, so why the change now?"NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.
"She's pregnant," Mrs. Perez said, her face hardening.
The sound of a cup shattering filled the room as Mr. Perez dropped his drink in shock.
"Wait, what? She's pregnant? When did this happen? And why didn't you tell me sooner?"
Seeing him as stunned as she had been when she first learned the news, Mrs. Perez let out a cold laugh. "I only just found out myself."
They both sat down, now deeply troubled. Their reservations about Lydia still lingered, but the fact that she was carrying their grandchild complicated everything.
Mr. Perez was thoroughly conflicted and turned to his wife for a solution. "So, what are we going to do?"
"What can we do?" Mrs. Perez scoffed. "Quincy went and got her pregnant without saying a word. What do you expect me to do now?"
Mr. Perez was left speechless. They both fell into silence for a long while.
But Mrs. Perez, her head lowered in thought, had already made up her mind.
No matter what, this baby would not be allowed to stay.
