Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 133

Joy couldn't help but think back to yesterday when he had scolded her. A mix of embarrassment and fear washed over her, but since Everett had already spotted her, there was no sneaking back to her car now. She cast her eyes downward, greeting him softly, "Morning, Everett."

Everett's dark eyes flicked over her, and he gave a slight nod in acknowledgment.

While she fumbled with her discomfort, his expression remained unfazed, as if the awkward encounter only existed in her mind. He was always aloof with people he didn't care about, simply because they didn't matter to him. Derick, who was trailing behind, greeted her with a warm, "Good morning, Miss Joy."

Joy returned his greeting with a smile and a nod.

With Derick in tow, Everett walked past her toward the elevator lobby. Joy stood there for a moment before following them.

Inside the elevator, Everett and Derick stood on one side while Joy stayed on the other. Derick was updating Everett on some matters.

Pretending to be absorbed in her phone, Joy stole glances at Everett through the mirrored walls.

He had always been the calm and composed type, the kind of kid who stayed cool even if the world was falling apart. Adults often called him an "old soul in a young body."Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

Even though she'd basically grown up following him around, she'd rarely seen him show any emotion beyond that icy exterior.

She had assumed he was incapable of feeling anything, until yesterday when she accidentally walked into his office and saw...

In that instant, he had shown a desire so intense. With his arms wrapped around Selena, veins bulging, he exuded a raw, sexy power.

The man who usually seemed so detached from earthly desires was undeniably magnetic when caught up in passion.

And it was all because of Selena.

Everyone claimed he felt nothing for Selena, but could someone really share such intimate moments without any emotional ties?

Sensing her gaze, Everett lazily lifted his eyelids.

Caught off guard, Joy quickly looked back at her phone, biting her lip without realizing it.

When the elevator reached the public relations department floor, she mumbled a quick "See you" and hurried out, only relaxing once the doors had closed behind her. Back at her desk, she hadn't been seated long when her secretary buzzed to say someone had arrived.

"Send her in," Joy replied.

A moment later, Lydia walked in,

dressed to turn heads. Her tight, short dress barely covered her thighs, and even a slight bend would reveal her impressive cleavage Clearly, she wasn't dressed for a typical day at the office.

"I'm Joy, a good friend of Selena's. Selena recommended you, and she asked me to remind you to mind your behavior while you're here. Focus on your work, make it through your internship smoothly, and steer clear of any unnecessary ideas," Joy said coolly.

Even Lydia, with her straightforward thinking, could pick up on the warning. Though displeased, she was new and didn't want to create waves. She nodded, though it was clearly just for show. After a few more words of advice, Joy waved her off.

Outside, Lydia's face turned dark.

Her aunt had been right. Selena

wasn't in Everett's good books. If she were, she wouldn't have hesitated to recommend her. Now, Selena had her friend caution Lydia. She was probably afraid her youth and looks might catch Everett's eye.

But Lydia hadn't worked so hard to get into Bennett Corporation just to be an intern. Her sights were set on Everett!
