Chapter 19
Chapter 19
"Arthur, why did you agree to let Adam and Rebecca move out?"
All night long, Julia felt very gloomy and depressed.
She asked Arthur the question when he finally walked into the bedroom.
Arthur unbuttoned his shirt, glanced at Julia, and snorted, "Do you really think your son has suddenly switched his taste from Linda to Rebecca?"
Julia was stunned for a few seconds.
"Then...why did you let them move out?"
Arthur glanced at Julia again, continued to unbutton his shirt, and sighed, "Adam is too stubborn. He won't listen to me now.I have to let him go.I hope Rebecca won't disappoint us."
Adam was his only son.Arthur couldn't force him to do the things he didn't like or turn him into an enemy.
It wouldn't do any good.
"Rebecca?!" Julia was still confused. Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
"You mean Adam doesn't like her. Then what can she do?"
"He doesn't like her now, but it doesn't mean he won't like her in the future."
After saying so, Arthur put his shirt into the laundry basket and walked into the bathroom.
Rebecca went to school the next day.
She also packed her things up and moved to Skyline No.1 with Adam.
Adam's apartment was on the top floor, 48th floor, of Skyline No.1.
It was bright, spacious and well-equipped with two floors connected by a staircase.
The decoration was simple but elegant.
Rebecca was in a hurry to meet her professor, so she didn't stay long.
She just quickly toured the apartment, put down her luggage, and left.
Adam and the butler, Mr.Williams, together with a few maids, helped her unpack the luggage.
Skyline No.1 was very close to New York University.
It was only two bus stops away.
It would take less than 10 minutes to walk there.
After she got off the bus and took a few steps, a familiar figure ran towards her, jumping with joy.
"Rebecca, did you come from Skyline No.1? You are fast!"
It was Linda. It seemed that she was waiting for Rebecca on purpose.
Rebecca looked at her and smiled, without saying anything.
Sure enough, Skyline No.1 was prepared for Linda.
Rebecca suddenly felt sorry for herself.
She shouldn't have listened to Adam for everything.
"Adam told me that you had a fever after you went back the night before. It was all our fault.Don't be angry with us, please. This is our gift for you! Please take it as an apology."
Linda handed over a small paper bag to Rebecca while she was speaking.
It was a light green delicate paper bag with the words "VCA" written onit.
Rebecca knew it was from Van Cleef & Arpels, the French luxury jewelry brand.
Rebecca's expression didn't change, and she didn’t have any intention to take it.
Linda took out a small and delicate square box from the paper bag.
It was the same color as the paper bag.
She opened it, and there was a four-leaf clover Carolinian necklace laying in the box.
Rebecca suddenly hated red.
It looked like blood! "Do you like it? Do you want to try it on now?"
Linda wanted to take the necklace out and put it on her.
"It's pretty.Thank you."
Rebecca looked at the four-leaf clover Carolinian necklace and didn't mean a word of what she said.
Although Rebecca said she liked it, there was no excitement in her eyes.
Linda smiled and put the necklace back into the box.
She said so while putting the necklace back, "Adam bought it for me, but I think it suits you better because your skin is pretty"
Rebecca smiled, "I can't take it if it's a gift from Adam."
"It's fine.He always buys me stuff like jewelry, cosmetics, clothes, and purses.I can't use them all.He won't be angry if I give some of them to you."
Linda had already put the necklace back while saying so.
She shut the box, put it back in the delicate green bag, and handed it to Rebecca.
Rebecca looked at Linda but was thinking only one question.
She and Adam got married in such a hurry that she doubted Adam could prepare a prenup.
So technically, Adam's money belonged to her as well.
"Does he still buy you gifts now?"
Rebecca suddenly asked.Linda nodded with a hint of provocation.
"Of course. He sent people over with gifts every day when he was in the hospital. Why? Does it bother you?"
Linda was not a fool.
She knew how Rebecca felt about Adam the minute when she saw the way Rebecca looked at Adam.
Rebecca looked at Linda and smiled.
Without saying anything, she was about to leave.
"Rebecca."
Linda reached out, grabbed her, and handed the bag back to her.
"Didn't you say you liked it? Please take it.I'm not wearing it anymore. It just takes my space if I keep it.’
"Miss Green, do you know?"
Rebecca looked at Linda, and suddenly her smile faded a little.
"Half of the things that Adam had given you since two and a half months ago actually belonged to me:"
"Half of the things that Adam had given you belonged to me."
The words echoed in Linda's mind.Linda stared at Rebecca and was suddenly stunned.
She didn't know how to react and was frozen.
Rebecca looked at Linda and suddenly regretted what she had just said.
"Miss Green, it's fine if Adam bought them for you.I'm in a hurry.I have to go."
Rebecca broke free of Linda's hand and walked away.
"Stop!"
Linda stopped her when Rebecca just took few steps.
Rebecca stopped again and sighed.
"Rebecca, what did you mean by that? What did you mean by you owning half the things Adam gave me?"
Linda stepped in front of Rebecca, stopped her, and questioned her with a gloomy face.
Rebecca looked at her and realized what a stupid mistake she had just made.
But she couldn't take it back.Rebecca, you're such an idiot.
Why did you do this? "Please go and ask Adam.
He will explain it all Having said this, Rebecca didn't want to say anything more to her and walked away.
Linda stood there, looking at the bus stop a few steps away.
She saw buses approaching and driving away.
Her hands were hanging by her side, gradually clenched into fists...
Rebecca went to meet her tutor.
She had one of her essential classes at 10 a.m.
Her phone had vibrated just when she sat down, and her class had begun.
Afraid that it would distract others, Rebecca quickly took out her phone.
She didn't see who was calling and cut off the call.
Only after then did she realized it was from Adam.
The phone vibrated again in her hand right after she cut it off.
It was Adam calling again.
Rebecca quickly turned her phone to silent.
"Who is it?"
Caroline noticed her abnormality and turned to ask her in a low voice.
Rebecca smiled and quickly stuffed her phone into the desk.
"Just scam calls.Pay attention to class!"
"Okay."
Although she had stuffed the phones in the desk, she could still see the light through the desktop.
Rebecca was not in the mood to listen to her instructor.
She had to take it out and took a look.
There were five missed calls, and all of them were from Adam.
Rebecca had guessed why Adam was looking for her now.
At this moment, no matter how uneasy and scared she was, she still took out her phone, mustered up the courage, and quietly left the classroom through the back door.
One had to take consequences of their action.
"Rebecca, you have ten minutes starting now.Come to the entrance of the New York University. If you don't, you'll regret.’
Before Rebecca could speak, she heard Adam's voice from the other end of the phone.
His cold and piercing voice was something she had never heard before.Rebecca shuddered when she heard it.
Karma is a bitch...
"Okay, I'm going now.’
