Chapter 106
Chapter 106
Chapter 106 It’s Probably That
On the surveillance camera. Brisa saw a man standing next to her Volkswagen. He was pretty tall and good-looking, wearing glasses and looking refined.
The man was Radley’s personal assistant, Connor.
Brisa took out her phone and secretly recorded the footage.
In the video, Connor stood by the car with a car key in his hand, as if he was the owner of the car.
The traffic police became furious and warned him sternly, “If you don’t move the car away. I’ll have it
towed.”
Connor smiled charmingly, but in Brisa’s eyes, he was nothing but a polished scoundrel!
He challenged the traffic police. “If you’re brave enough, go ahead and tow it. I dare you!”
The traffic police, who was full of justice, could not tolerate such provocation.
In no time, he made Connor learn his lesson, and Brisa’s beloved Volkswagen was towed away.
Brin
was infuriated.
Today’s incident made her realize that Radley was a dangerous person, but she did not expect his assistant to be so cunning as well!
Melissa’s matter was not serious, so Freya did not call the Marshall family to inform them about it.
When Freya returned to the Kaufmann Residence, Braxton had not gotten off work yet. She stayed home, took out The Compendium of Medical Wisdom, and started reading.
She kept reading until noon. Right after lunch, she received the video from Brisa.
Connor was the culprit who caused her car to be towed. Thus, Radley must be the mastermind who had instructed him to do it!
Freya frowned. What does Radley want?
She had always felt that this man was curious about her because he discovered that she was a daughter of the Kaufmann family after he had abandoned her.
Besides, she had lost her memory. Some people might regain interest in the things they had once ditched, but that interest wouldn’t last long.
However, Radley seemed to be addicted.
Freya didn’t delve into it anymore. She patted her belly and went to the herbal medicine room in her - house to prepare a dose of anti-abortifacient for the good of her baby.
In the afternoon, she nestled in the herbal medicine room, brewed the medicine herself, drank it, ate some snacks, and continued reading.
Freya had a peaceful time. She caressed her bulging belly, exuding a mother’s tenderness.
She was looking forward to her baby.
She didn’t check the baby’s gender. She would love it, whether it was a boy or a girl.
Radley went to the Wallace Residence and then went directly to the Monaghan Building
As soon as the car stopped in front of the building, a woman suddenly rushed out from the roadside!
Connor almost couldn’t brake in time. After slamming on the brakes, he saw Danna, who had blocked the car from its front. He was scared out of his wits.
“Mr. Monaghan, it’s Miss Delgado!” Connor said.
Radley had been on guard when he saw someone rushing out from the roadside. Now, he had one hand against the front seat’s backrest. His gaze was gloomy and cold, like a deep pond in the frosty winter.
Danna looked panicked. Her beautiful eyes on her fair face were red and swollen from crying
After stopping the car, she rushed over and opened Radley’s car door.
“Radley!”
“Get out of my way!” Radley said sternly.
Danna placed her hands firmly on the car door, preventing Radley from closing it.
“Radley, I’m going crazy. Please don’t treat me like this anymore. I’ll do anything you want me to do.”
Danna’s eyes were desperate and desolate. She had always had a pure appearance. Her beautiful eyes slightly drooped at the corners, revealing a sense of innocence effortlessly.
Now, in her despair, she looked like a deer lost in the misty forest. Her eyes were so clear that it seemed possible for Radley to know exactly what she was thinking.
Radley looked at Danna callously. He had been deceived by his old feelings for too long, and Danna’s acting skills probably played a part in it.
But now…
“I told you not to appear in front of me again.” Radley’s tone was indifferent. “If it happens again. I’ll have Connor send you out of Caltun, and you won’t have the chance to come back.”
Danna gritted her teeth. “Radley, but I’ve already given myself to you!”
Radley’s face turned cold.
Danna’s heart skipped a beat.
It is that expression again! As if he has suffered a great loss!
Radley slammed the car door shut.
At the last moment before the door was closed, Danna let go of her hand. The sound of the door closing was deafening.
She was stunned. If she hadn’t let go, her fingers might have been broken.
Radley!
She felt as if blood was dripping from her throat as she constantly repeated this name in her mind.
Radley has really fallen in love with Freya!
What should I do?
Make Freya disappear?
Yes, if Freya is dead, Radley would definitely look at me again!
At eight o’clock in the evening. Freya and Braxton had finished their dinner at the Kaufmann Residence.
The two were resting in the living room. Freya was reading The Compendium of Medical Wisdom while Braxton peeled a banana and handed it to her.
“You read this book all day. I don’t know what’s so interesting about it,” Braxton said with a laugh
Freya shook her head and said, “Brax, you don’t have a deep understanding of herbal medicine, so you won’t know how precious this book is!”
“Precious? Can it be more precious than the things in our family’s safe vault?” Braxton asked.
Freya raised her eyebrows. “Of course, those riches have a price after all, but this book is priceless. Back then, I was able to buy it at the auction for hundreds of thousands. Thinking about it now, I was so lucky! This book is much more valuable than the jewelry and antiques in our family’s safe vault!”
Braxton was taken aback.
After Freya finished speaking, she looked up.
“Brax, when did I buy this book again?”
Braxton’s face gradually became serious, his gaze falling on the copy of The Compendium of Medical Wisdom in Freya’s hands.
“Two years ago, half a month before your car accident.” Braxton’s voice deepened. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Freya sat up at once and flipped through The Compendium of Medical Wisdom.
Braxton squinted. “What kind of book is this?”
“It’s a book on ancient herbal medicine compiled in the Middle Ages. This is the only copy left.” Freya pursed her lips. “I even took measures to prevent moisture damage.”
They looked at each other and both fell silent.
Freya stroked The Compendium of Medical Wisdom with her hands.
Freya had discussed this with Braxton before, and they both agreed that someone was targeting the Kaufmanns secretly as they wanted to obtain something from them.
Braxton had told Freya that she fell in love with Radley two years ago because of a car accident. Radley
saved her, and that was how they met.
Later, she lost her memory, also because of a car accident
Then there was Braxton’s car accident, and someone snuck into her bedroom at the Kaufmann Residence at night while she was busy taking care of Braxton at the hospital.
“Most likely, this book is what they’re after.” Freya’s face turned grave, and she ran her hand over the pages of The Compendium of Medical Wisdom.
“Since they snuck into my room, they must’ve thought this book was with me.”
Braxton’s face was grim as he took The Compendium of Medical Wisdom from Freya’s hands “What makes this book so special? Even if it were priceless, it still wouldn’t be valuable enough to justify hurting
someone over.”
“Their power is potent, and their movements are secretive. Judging by what we know, The Compendium of Medical Wisdom is a rare copy from the Middle Ages, and the Middle Ages was the most prosperous period for the development of herbal medicine.”
Freya propped her chin in her hands. “There are many ancient and exquisite prescriptions in here which have been lost since the Middle Ages. While it’s valuable, I have a feeling that their intentions aren’t just on this book.”
There must be some secrets to The Compendium of Medical Wisdom that she didn’t know!
Braxton held the book and said, “From now on, leave this book to me, and you stay away from it!”
This book was like a ticking time bomb. Since Braxton knew that the attacker’s target was this book, he wanted to keep Freya safe.
Freya chuckled and snatched the book back. “If that’s what you’re thinking, why don’t I just copy the book and post it online? Won’t it be safer to burn the book?”
Braxton raised his eyebrows and said, “That’s a good idea.”
“But I don’t want to,” Freya said with a serious look. “These people had caused me a car accident just for this book.”
They made me fall in love with Radley and ignore my family for two years.
And they almost killed my brother!
Freya’s heart was cold as ice. It was not her style to not take revenge. She must find out who was behind all of this!
