Chapter 255
Naomi blinked. She put the phone back to her ear. "What is it?"
"Did that jerk look for you?"
Naomi was speechless.
Who else could Amelia mean but Scott?
Naomi clutched her forehead. She felt a little helpless and troubled.
"Amelia, you can't call him that. He's quite nice."
"What the fuck? Don't tell me you still have feelings for him?"
Naomi was speechless. She realized she could not say anything good about Scott to Amelia. Otherwise, Amelia would lose her temper.
"Naomi, you have got to stop being fooled by that face! Even though that jerk's a pretty boy, he is toxic! You should pick someone as pure and kind as Charles. He's like the innocent golden retriever that will make you happy for the rest of your life."
Naomi was afraid that if she did not say anything, Amelia would continue until she made her cry. Naomi immediately said, "I know. You're right. I agree with you, too. Go and eat. I'm almost there."
"You're almost there?"
"Yes, we'll talk again."
"Sure, sure. I'll stop talking. Go and hook up with Charles and have a big fat baby. That way, I can become your child's godmother! Listen to my advice!"
"Alright, I will!" Naomi had to agree with whatever Amelia said. Otherwise, she did not know how long Amelia would continue babbling.
Naomi breathed a sigh of relief as she hung up the phone. She had learned not to speak kindly of Scott in front of Amelia. It would be best if she did not bring him up at all.
She put her phone down and looked out the window, lost in thought. They were approaching the old city walls.
Naomi had excellent vision, possibly because Charles was too dazzling. She was the first to notice him. Charles was standing by the road in chinos and a light-colored shirt.
Naomi thought about Amelia's words—as gentle and pure as a golden retriever.
She thought it was an apt description.
The chauffeur looked at Naomi through the rearview mirror. He saw the woman put her phone down and looked out the window. Then, he retracted his gaze and looked forward.
Naomi spotted Charles. She said to the chauffeur, "You can stop by the road of the old city walls. I'll get off there."
The chauffeur had also noticed Charles. After all, he had only seen him that afternoon, so he knew where Naomi was referring. "Alright, Ma'am."
Naomi only remembered who the chauffeur worked for when she heard him address her as such. She pondered briefly before saying, "You can drop me off and leave. I won't need the car for later."
Scott had arranged for her to use the car, but it did not make sense to do so after work, especially when Scott was not there.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
The chauffeur immediately said, "But Mr. Quinn told me to stay with you tonight."
Naomi smiled at him. "No need. You can leave. We're going to walk around. It doesn't make sense for you to wait for us."
Naomi was not concerned that Scott would learn about her meeting with Charles. He would not say anything because they were divorced.
She also had no idea where she and Charles were going. They could not possibly keep the chauffeur following them. It would be troublesome and inconvenient.
Besides, she could not take her friend around in her ex-husband's car. It would be inappropriate.
"Uh…" The chauffeur was a little troubled.
"It's fine," Naomi said gently before looking at Charles.
