30 Days till I Divorce My Husband (Estrella and Jason)

Chapter 214

At this point, Bryce’s mother also became anxious. She turned to him and asked, “Son, is there something you haven’t told me?”

Bryce looked at his mother’s hand grasping for answers, gently patted it, and stood up. “Since everyone here is so eager to settle scores with Estrella, I’ll lay it all out for you.”

“Jason, during those years you were married to Estrella, you know damn well how seldom you came home. Did Estrella ever complain? I won’t even start on those scandals you had on the side. And then there was the car accident. Remember when Estrella called you from the hospital, needing your signature, and you just hung up on her?

“Let’s not dig too far into the past. Let’s talk about three years ago when Estrella was traveling for work. You promised to pick her up at the airport, but instead, you stood her to be with Holly. Estrella was pregnant at the time, waiting for you at Sandalwood Oasis, only to be knocked over by a stray cat, resulting in a miscarriage. That security footage from your place should still be around right?

“Estrella was hospitalized for a week after losing the baby. Did you even call her once? Visit her even once? Hell, you didn’t even see her once before she left Ravenwood.

“It’s not that Estrella couldn’t bear children or give birth to a Nelson heir. It’s that the Nelson family doesn’t deserve her.

“Now I’ve got to ask you all, what gives Jason the right to expect Estrella to remain pure for him? Why shouldn’t Estrella be with someone else? Besides, Estrella tried to hand Jason divorce papers more than once. He just wouldn’t sign them.”

Bryce kept referring to ‘you Nelsons’ as if he wasn’t one of them.

By the time Bryce finished speaking, Kristin’s eyes were brimming with tears. She turned Jason and demanded, “Jason, is it true what Bryce is saying? Did Estrella have a child three years ago, and the child was lost at Sandalwood Oasis?”

Jason’s face flushed with shame at the mention of the child. He swallowed hard and remained silent. Kristin slapped him hard across the face, demanding, “Jason, talk to me! Is what Bryce is saying true? Did you stand Estrella up? Did she lose the baby?”

As Kristin’s slaps and punches landed on him, Jason finally snapped back to reality, his voice choked as he admitted, “Estrella was indeed pregnant back then, and it was my

mistake.”

At Jason’s admission, Kristin burst into inconsolable tears.

Her grandchild, her first grandchild, was gone lost because of her son’s foolishness over Holly.

Suddenly, the once proud Nelsons fell silent.

As Jason stood up, hands in his pockets, Landon delivered a fierce slap across his face. Jason had been a fool, neglecting Estrella time and again for others.

Jason’s cheek quickly reddened with the imprint of Landon’s fingers. He tasted blood in his mouth and managed a bitter, self-deprecating smile, saying nothing. What was this slap compared to Estrella’s

loss?

Bryce couldn’t help feeling vindicated. “Come on, don’t stop now. Keep pushing for that divorce. On behalf of my Ella, I thank you. And when that divorce paper is in hand, I’ll make sure you get a fat check as a token of appreciation.”

A divorce could happen, but no one had the right to speak ill of Estrella, who was faultless in this crumbling marriage.

Bryce’s defiance was clear, but his aunts, reminded of Jason’s past actions, had nothing. more to say. If this was the truth, then Estrella had every right to hold her head high, for Jason was the one in debt to her from the start.

With the family silenced, Bryce grabbed his jacket from the chair and left without looking

back.

“Oh, the tragedy!” Amber cried out upon learning of her great-grandchild’s fate, her sobs echoing through the house.

As Keith attempted to discipline Jason with his cane, he collapsed, his vision going dark.

“Dad! Dad!”

For a moment, the Nelson family mansion became chaotic.

Past 2 a.m., Keith emerged from the emergency room with a furrowed brow, his anger peaking at the sight of Jason. Keith called Jason a bastard, and he regretted ever agreeing to the marriage with Estrella.

Noticing Keith’s disdain for Jason, Kristin sent her son away.

In the hallway, Jason leaned against the wall, defeated, and lit a cigarette. His figure was lonely silhouette in the smoke-filled corridor.

Kristin, emerging from the room and seeing Jason’s troubled state, couldn’t muster any

anger.

“Mom,” said Jason, stubbing out his cigarette as Kristin approached. He straightened his back, ready to face her.

With a sigh, Kristin told him, “Your grandfather is still furious. Go home and get some

rest.”

Jason remained silent.

Looking up at him, Kristin added, “I know losing the baby with Estrella was hard on you,

and that’s why you’ve been resisting the divorce. But thank goodness Estrella has a child now, or she’d never have peace.”

At this point, Kristin paused, searching for the right words to convey the gravity of her thoughts. She then continued, “Jason, honey, what I’m trying to say is, if your decision to stay married is because you can’t bear to part with Estrella, you want to make things right with her, and you’re committed to treating

her well from here on out, then I’m behind your one hundred percent. I’ll love Estrella’s child as if they were my own flesh and blood.”

“But if you’re just holding on out of spite, because you can’t stand the thought of her having someone else’s child, then maybe it’s time to let go. There’s no point in dragging each other through the mud.

“And another thing, if you do choose to stick it out with Estrella, I hope you’ll take a long hard look at your own behavior, son. You’ve always had this lone-wolf streak, always been a bit too headstrong and domineering. Plus, you’re not exactly the poster boy for sharing your feelings. Everything gets bottled up inside. If you really want to make it work with Estrella, you’re going to have to work on those things.”
