Jason lounged back with an air of nonchalance and replied, “Just some old porno you left at the house. I play them sometimes when I miss you.”

Estrella was at a loss for words. Damn it, she had shot herself in the foot.

Estrella rolled her eyes in disgust, but Jason, nibbling at her ear, whispered seductively,

“I’ve memorized hundreds of moves. We can take our time and try them out.” As he spoke, his hands began to wander once again.

Estrella quickly stood up from his embrace and said with a stern face, “I’ve got to head

back to the office. There’s still work to do.”

Jason reached out and pulled her back, saying, “I’ve already cleared it with Logan. He said you’re case-free lately and suggested we take a trip.”

Estrella felt like cursing someone out. Why the hell was Logan helping her by giving her

time off now?

Her eyes blazed with fury, but Jason’s smile was exceptionally bright as he drew her close and kissed her forehead. “There are dozens of moves just on the couch. Shall we unlock a few today?”

“Jason, go to hell.”

“Estrella, no matter what you say, it’s all pointless right now.”

With that, he pulled her onto his lap. His mom was right. Addiction was a real thing, and he was utterly hooked on Estrella.

Peeling away her clothes, he asked, “Where would you like to travel?”

Estrella tried to get up again. “I need to be there for Isaac.”

Jason reassured her, “My mom’s got it covered. Don’t worry.”

Estrella remembered, “I’ve got to make a trip to Glimmering Lake.”

Jason responded, “Logan’s taken care of it. Keegan’s covering for you at Glimmering Lake for the next few days.”

Estrella exclaimed, “Jason, you’re unbelievable!”

Jason simply agreed, “You’re right.”

“Jason, even if we sleep together, it’s just physical. Don’t expect anything else. Think carefully if you want to waste your energy.”

“I’m more than happy to maintain this kind of physical relationship with you.”

Right now, he was focused on his arousal. Everything else was trivial. After all, Estrella.

Chapter 277

was his, forever. She wasn’t going anywhere.

Despite her many excuses, Estrella couldn’t escape Jason’s grasp. Eventually, she negotiated, “Be gentle, or you’ll land me in the hospital, and I’ll never live it down.””

Just the night before and that morning, she felt on the brink of collapse more than once. If she ended up in the hospital over this, she’d be mortified. She had always thought it was the men who exerted themselves while women enjoyed it, but too much enjoyment’ wasn’t necessarily a good thing either.

“I’ll try to contain myself,” Jason said with a grin.

Since picking her up the day before, Jason had no plans to leave the house. He’d made sure of that, aside from allowing her time to eat and sleep. Estrella’s legs turned to jelly at the sight of him.

It wasn’t until the evening, when they agreed Jason would keep his hands to himself, that Estrella finally breathed a sigh of relief. Throughout the day, she couldn’t count how many times she mentally cursed the entire Nelson family. And Autumn, too, for not calling her and providing an excuse to escape. Who knew what kind of spell Jason had cast on her mother

Held in Jason’s arms, Estrella slapped his wandering hand from her chest. Jason protested, “I’m just touching.”

Facing Jason, Estrella asked, “After dinner at my place last night, where did you go?”

A jolt of surprise hit Jason. Why was she asking about his whereabouts from the night before? But then his mood shifted to glee, “So concerned about me that you had someone follow me?”

Estrella wasn’t having it. “Don’t try to change the subject.” She added, “Our relationship is only physical, and it saves me the trouble and money of finding a boy toy.”

Jason’s grip on her chin tightened as he planted a firm kiss on her lips. Then he looked at her seriously and said, “Babe, let’s get something straight. No matter where I was last night, you can’t get mad. But I promise you, I wasn’t doing anything to betray you. I’m absolutely loyal to you.”

Past misunderstandings had rattled Jason, so now he made sure to clarify every little thing with Estrella.

Estrella calmly demanded, “Start talking.”

Holding her hand, Jason earnestly began, “On my way home last night, Holly called me..”

He went on to share his conversation with Holly and his suspicions, carefully omitting Holly’s motives and the matter of her birthday.

After listening, Estrella queried, “Alone with her? You didn’t get up to something? It was Holly’s birthday yesterday, you know.”

Chapter 277

Jason had forgotten Holly’s birthday, but Estrella remembered. She knew almost everyone’s birthday in their circle.

Jason got agitated, “What could possibly have happened between us? What’s her birthday got to do with me? I only saw her to gauge her reaction, and to see if my theory was

correct.”

Jason’s defensiveness was Estrella’s cue. She teased, “Jason, what are you so worked up about? Guilty conscience?”

Jason responded, “Babe, when you don’t think the best of me, how can I stay calm? Do you really think I’m so desperate that I’d fall for her trap?”

Estrella confidently retorted, “You would.”

Jason’s expression soured, “Estrella, if you can’t trust me, then I don’t know what to think. Besides, who else have I ever liked besides you over the years?”

Standing up from the sofa, he continued, “I’ve got some energy left. Maybe I should prove it to you, so you can decide for yourself whether I’ve been with any other women.”

With that, his pajama top fell open to reveal a chiseled chest. Estrella’s knees buckled at the sight. She was pretty sure that if she were standing, her knees would have given out, but she pulled together a facade of calm and said, “Who are you trying to scare by getting undressed? Just put your clothes back on and let’s talk this through properly.”

Jason, sans shirt, scooped Estrella into his arms with a sideways motion and said, “This isn’t something that can be explained with words. Actions speak louder.”

Estrella was quick to assure, “Hey hey, I believe you.”

“It’s too late for that.”

“So, are you still up for discussing the fire?”

“No need for discussion. Give me a few days, and I’ll dig up the truth for you.”

With that, Jason had her pinned to the bed. Estrella wasn’t having any of it. She braced her hands against his waist, trying to keep him from coming any closer. “Jason, if you don’t stop this, I’m seriously going to get mad.”

She thought about it-how many times had they been at it since last night? The state of the sheets when they went into the wash was evidence enough. Wasn’t he afraid of overdoing it to the point of exhaustion?

Estrella was frightened, but Jason’s hands gently began to tease apart her clothing. “We don’t have to do this, but let’s make it official tomorrow and get our marriage license”
