Hugh: “We’ve been trying to catch him for the past two weeks, plus we need someone skilled in long-

ranged attacks.”

Red: “Looking at the way you threw that sword, all you’d need is a few knives. No need for a long-

ranged archer. Especially a little runt like this.”

Hugh: “That could work, however looking at you’re contributions to the fight lately, I think I’m needed on

the front lines.”

Red was about to reply in disagreement.

Luke: “Can you two please shut up already.?”

Red: “Excuse me but if you haven’t noticed we’re discussing whether to kill you or not. If you haven’t

figured it out by now you’re the one who got yourself in this mess, so maybe try being a little more

compliant and shut up.”

Luke looked to the side mumbling, “what it looks is you two bickering over nonsense”.

Hugh put his hand over his mouth disguising a laugh and Red seemed to turn red with a fit of silent

anger.

Hugh waved to have Luke brought to him.

Hugh: “You’re entire den of thieves is gone, and now that you’re caught maybe you should rethink your

life choices.”

Luke: “Please, just let me go and I’ll live an honest life, I promise.”

Hugh sighed and started walking.

Hugh: “You’ve been free from slavery for over a decade, you could have left this place and went back

to the Elven Continent, but you stayed and reverted to a life of crime.”

Luke struggled and Hugh looking tired rubbed his eyes.

Hugh: “Tie him up. I doubt he’ll be agreeable right now, we can try persuading him tomorrow.”

Red and Hugh turned away from the captive. Red stretched his back.

Red: “Does that mean we can finally get some sleep, we’ve been chasing him all day and night?”

Hugh: “Yeah, one of you has to watch him though.“

Hugh waved down the other men behind him, telling them to get the horses. One of the men holding

onto Luke spoke. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

“Your Highness couldn’t we just knock him out to save us the trouble.?”

Hugh: “I don’t care what you do just don’t kill him or lose him..”

Luke: “Wait what.?”

With a harsh blow, the Elf was incapacitated.

-Vacant Demon Lord’s Estate-

Hugh sat in the large room.

He read over the papers in his hand, with his legs crossed. He put the papers down and turned.

He spoke clearly, moving his eyes to the man before him.

Hugh: “How was the scouting mission, Val.”

Val, the previous Demon King's son knelt with his hand across his chest spoke in a deep voice that was

close to his father’s.

Val: “All bandit activity within the 6 surrounding territories has been terminated. It seems every member

has been either dealt with or captured. We went and destroyed any remnants of the hideouts as well as

a black market slave auction that we stumbled upon.”

Hugh: “Good, now we can finally take a break, we’ve taken almost a month just getting rid of this bandit

organization.”

Val: “I’m glad to see you’re pleased. But from my observations, it seems this half of the continent is

severely lacking in authority. Four out of the six surrounding territories have no Demon Lords governing

them.”

The Demon King’s hand covered his head, sitting back into his chair. He had a silent sigh and spoke.

Hugh: “I know, and this one is vacant as well. I also heard one Demon Lord from the west most territory

was found among the dead after the Ascension Competition, that tells you how loyal he was.”

Hugh stood from his seat. Val followed suit. He looked out the window at the surrounding town.

Hugh: “I guess I’ll ask father for any candidates, and if you ever want to retire then that can be an

option.”

Val: “I...”

The door suddenly opened to Red holding the Elven Bandit Luke by his ropes.

Red: “Your Highness!.”

Val: “Red it’s impolite to walk into His Highnesse's chambers without knocking.”

Red: “Oh, Val your back, I can see that personality still hasn’t changed.”

Val: “I’ve only been gone two weeks.”

Val’s straightforward and almost blank demeanor shut off Red speech. Luke struggles and made some

noise.

Hugh: “I guess he’s awake.?”
