Chapter 2 We Meet Again, Sir
Chapter 2 We Meet Again, Sir
When Everly got her luggage and was about to meet up with the people who came to pick them up
from the company, she found that her son was missing. NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
She freaked out. Although her son was highly intelligent with a good sense of direction, he had just
come back from abroad...
She scurried to the airport staff for help, carefully described Edmond's height and appearance, as well
as his attire...
"Mommy!"
Her heart jumped to her throat at Edmond's voice.
She looked back and saw Edmond walking towards her from not far
There was a stranger following him.
She turned pale, pulling her son over and examining him carefully. After she saw that he was all right,
she let out a sigh of relief. "What is the matter with you? Do you know I'm freaked out?"
Although Edmond was young, he was very observant. He quickly soothed her in a sweet voice,
"Mommy, I've grown up. I'm fine."
The man standing behind Edmond stepped forward.
The man smiled and looked at her strangely. "Are you the child's mother? Although it is safer here than
abroad, you have to take good care of the child. Since he has found you, I'll be off."
Although Everly was puzzled, she heard kindness in his words and said, "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Jayden nodded and then turned to leave.
Everly was furious because she was worried. "Tell me where you went."
Unexpectedly, her son said with contempt, "Mommy, you were not worried to leave me alone in the US.
Why are you worried back at home?"
Everly was lost for words.
"I just saw a very handsome man." Edmond wasn't a very talkative child, and it was rare of him to
praise other men.
Everly took him towards the exit and casually asked, "Really? How handsome?"
Edmond said proudly, "A little more handsome than me."
Everly couldn't help but laugh, "You like to brag!"
However, she thought her son was very handsome.
After they met the people sent by the company to pick them up, they went straight to the hotel.
After they checked in, Everly began to work.
Garry Ingram, the assistant appointed by the company to work with her, handed her the iPad and
played a video.
"Everly, please take a look at this first. We have only signed a letter of intent, and nothing has been
finalized. The investor suddenly changed the manager. Their company is going through an internal
restructuring, and I'm afraid there will be some changes."
It was a video clip, in which a large group of reporters surrounded a tall man.
Standing in the middle of the crowd, the man was expressionless in the flashes from the cameras.
Through the screen, one could feel the grim ferocity deep in his clear and calm eyes.
His face was good-looking with aloof distance, but he had overwhelming masculine charm.
He carried a cold and gloomy air, which was intimidating.
Maverick Lamont was a well-known name.
He was famous abroad, not to mention that he was worshiped in City C.
Before he returned to Lamont Group in City C, he was an investor with unique insight, and the projects
that he chosen made absolute profits.
Just last month, the hundred-year-old family business in Sweden was swallowed up by him overnight.
One could imagine how brutal this man was in the business world.
However, the relationships within the Lamonts were complex, which must be in turmoil presently.
At the end of the video clip, the man says, "No. I'm determined to get what I want."
Everly's eyelids twitched slightly. When this man said no, he was like a sharp sword out of its sheath,
restrained but proud. His confidence and determination could not be concealed.
Maverick was her rival this time.
Edmond saw Everly busy at work, yawning in boredom. "Mommy, I'm going out to buy ice cream. My
phone is located."
Edmond had known his mind since he was small. When they were in US, he could take good care of
himself when Everly was busy with her work.
Everly knew that he must be curious about everything back home, but she could not spare time to
accompany him. She had been discussing work with Garry, and her son might be bored.
She agreed, "Come back in half an hour. Do you know the way? If anything happens to you, call me
right away."
"Okay. I got it." As he spoke, the little fellow opened the door and disappeared swiftly

Maverick stood by the elevator with one hand in his trousers pocket.
The double doors of the elevator opened with a tickle. Just as he was about to enter, he saw a small
figure leaning against the corner of the elevator.
Maverick narrowed his eyes.
However, those small eyes abruptly lit up.
"Sir?"
There seemed to be delight and surprise in his voice. "What a coincidence! We meet again."
It was indeed a coincidence.
Maverick glanced at him and hesitated for a moment before he said, "Are you alone?"
"I'm with my mommy." The little fellow replied quickly, as if he didn't have the slightest sense of self-
protection, giving away the details. "Sir, are you staying at this hotel? What a coincidence! Mommy and
I stay here as well."
