A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 829: Father and Son

Makhi asked the girl at the front desk to take care of Ranita and turned to find the courier, but he was already gone.

Checking the surveillance footage was useless; the person wore a mask and hat, making it impossible to see his face.

“Ranita, are you okay?” Makhi asked worriedly.

Ranita nodded. She looked a bit disheveled in her professional attire. The coffee spill wasn’t too noticeable on her damp clothes, but the exposed skin was reddened from the burn. Her white blouse had patches here and there.

“I took care of it; it shouldn’t blister. I’ll apply some ointment when I get back. Don’t worry!” Ranita reassured Makhi.

Makhi chuckled, “You’re hurt, so don’t comfort me.”

“I’ll have my secretary get you a change of clothes. You can’t go back like this.”NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

Ranita didn’t want to trouble Makhi, but going back like this would worry Ayaan.

Makhi’s secretary, whom Ranita had met several times, promptly bought her a new set of clothes without hesitation.

The last time someone threw paint at her, and now coffee; both times Makhi helped her, making Ranita feel a bit embarrassed.

Worried about her safety, Makhi personally escorted her back to the hospital.

“Take it slow on your way back. Get some medicine from the doctor and apply it. If it blisters, be careful,” Makhi advised, then smiled and waved goodbye.

Ranita waved back with a smile.

After watching his car leave, she turned around and was startled to see a father and son standing with their arms crossed, glaring at her.

Both father and son wore identical angry expressions.

“Ranita, you seem so reluctant to part that your eyes are about to pop out!”

Ranita was about to explain when Ayaan chimed in, “Mommy, did you go out with Uncle Terry without me?”

“Silly boy, is this the time to talk about that?” Brendon placed his large hand on Ayaan’s head, his voice trembling with anger.

Ayaan pouted and whined, “Daddy, don’t touch my head!”

“Ayaan, why are you out here?” Ranita interrupted them. The father and son exchanged glances, then held hands and ran off.

Ranita chased them back to the ward.

“What’s wrong with you two?”

Brendon sulked in silence.

Ayaan pouted and stayed quiet too.

“If you won’t talk, I won’t ask.” Ranita put her things away and went to wash her hands. When she returned, she saw Ayaan looking at her eagerly like a little monkey who couldn’t hold back any longer.

“Mommy, ask again!” Ayaan finally blurted out. “Daddy said to wait until you asked a second time before telling you…”

Brendon, feeling betrayed, covered his son’s mouth and quickly explained, “I never said that!”

Ayaan grabbed his father’s fingers and insisted, “Daddy did say that!”

Ranita had rushed back and was flushed from the heat outside.

Brendon felt guilty but spoke confidently, “Ranita, tell me honestly, isn’t it wrong to leave your husband and son behind to meet another man? And what’s with your clothes?”

“You went out and came back in different clothes? What exactly did you do?”
