Chapter 841: Harsh Words
Ranita felt a lump in her throat, making her extremely uncomfortable.
She had rushed back without knowing the specifics of what had happened. With a sorrowful expression, Ranita asked, “What did you say? What happened to Mom?”
“Ranita, you’re nothing but bad luck… I don’t want to talk to you right now. Get out of my sight immediately!”
Chole was furious.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
Ranita remained surprisingly calm. Chole was very angry, but she looked exhausted, with dark circles under her eyes, clearly very tired.
“Tell me what happened to Mom, or let me go in and see her…”
“In your dreams! Didn’t you hear me? Get out of my sight right now!”
At that moment, Jedidiah returned and stopped Chole. “Chole, what nonsense are you spouting!”
“Ranita, Ayaan, you’re back!” Jedidiah smiled at Ranita and patted Ayaan’s head.
“Uncle!” Ayaan hugged Jedidiah’s leg and softly asked, “Where’s Grandma?”
“Grandma just had surgery and needs to stay in the ICU for a few days. We can’t disturb her, okay?”
Jedidiah pursed his lips at Ranita. “Ranita, let’s not talk about anything else right now. Go home and rest first. I’ll explain everything later.”
“But…”
“No buts! Listen to me!” Jedidiah arranged for Ranita to go home.
Ranita finally learned what had happened. Alexia knew she was coming back today, so she went out to buy groceries herself. On her way back, she was hit by a car.
Fortunately, she was rushed to the hospital in time and was now out of danger.
Ranita finally breathed a sigh of relief.
“As long as she’s okay! It scared me to death!” Ranita covered her face, worried sick. “Jedidiah, I’m sorry. It’s all my fault.”
“This has nothing to do with you!” Jedidiah sighed and took out some ointment. “Did Chole hit you?”
“She was just anxious,” Ranita said nonchalantly, lowering her eyelashes.
“Even if she was anxious, she shouldn’t have hit you.” Jedidiah sighed. “She’s getting more and more unreasonable!”
“Forget it, it’s fine now!” Ranita had used ice on her face when she got back, so it was no longer swollen. “I’m going to check on Dad.”
In the evening, after dinner and packing up some things, Ranita was about to head to the hospital again but was stopped by Chole at the door.
“Ranita, I advise you not to go! People like you should just stay home and pretend nothing happened.”
Chole’s attitude was always unfriendly, and her expression towards Ranita was filled with malice.
“That’s my mom; I don’t need your fake concern! And if anything happens to her because of you again, I won’t forgive you.”
Ranita looked at Chole, holding back her temper. “Chole, she’s my mom too. It’s only right for me to see her. You can’t stop me!”
“Your mom? Ranita, do you think just because your last name is Bowman, you’re really part of the Bowman family? Don’t you know your own identity?” Chole’s face was full of disdain. “If you had any gratitude at all, you wouldn’t go to the hospital and disturb Mom’s rest.” Chole sneered and turned away.
Ranita sat in the car, feeling extremely depressed.
After a long time, she took several deep breaths, mentally prepared herself, and then drove off. No matter what Chole said, Alexia was lying in a hospital bed, and she had to see her.
