A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 853: Holding a Grudge

Ranita was speechless. She had just said one sentence, and now she was being morally blackmailed!

“Thanks for your kindness, Lily, but I don’t plan on looking for a job right now…”

“You can’t have high standards and low abilities. Don’t you still have to raise a child? How can you manage without a job?” Diana Heath chuckled. “Raising a child isn’t easy these days; everything costs money.”

“You used to run a studio, so you must have been well-off. But we haven’t heard much about you in recent years, so you must be short on money.”

The other classmates nodded in agreement. When Ranita was in her prime, she was the pride of the city, and professors often used her as an example to encourage students. But suddenly, she disappeared.

Some felt pity, but most were just watching the drama unfold.

“Thanks for your concern. I’m managing,” Ranita said softly, her eyes downcast.

Diana Heath thought she was bluffing. “The bill will be split equally later. If you can’t afford it, we can discuss it and help you out…”

“Ring ring!” Brendon called, and Ranita heard him ask, “Where did you go?”

“I’m at the restaurant next door. Wait for me…” Before she could finish, Diana Heath snatched the phone and smiled into it. “Hello, are you Ranita’s boyfriend or husband? We’re in private room 09. Do you want to join us?”

Ranita grabbed her phone back, only to find the call had ended.

“Diana Heath, what are you doing!”

“What am I doing? I’m helping you call someone over to assist! You two can share one person’s cost!” Diana Heath’s eyes were full of mockery and disdain.

Ranita was about to speak when there was a knock on the door. With a creak, Brendon’s stunning face appeared.

Everyone was stunned. Who would have thought that the person Ranita brought would be so good-looking, even more handsome than a celebrity! The men felt inferior, and the women were secretly envious and jealous.

The man exuded an aura of authority as he walked briskly to Ranita’s side. After a casual glance around the room, his gaze settled on Ranita. “Why did you suddenly come here?”

“I was invited warmly!”

“I had booked a restaurant.” Brendon was clearly displeased. He had planned a private dinner for just the two of them, but now there were so many third wheels.

Ranita moved closer to Brendon and complained, “So many people here are splitting the bill equally, but only we two pay as one. It’s quite a deal!”

Brendon immediately realized his wife was being bullied.

Just as he was about to speak, Lily’s husband suddenly stood up and walked over. “Are you… Mr. Stuart?”

Lily’s husband, William Duncan, had achieved some success. From the moment Brendon entered, he felt that Brendon looked familiar. After thinking for a while, he finally remembered that this was Brendon Stuart, the heir of the Kurima Stuart family!

“And you are?” Brendon’s tone remained indifferent and proud, making people feel they should bow down before him.

“I’m William Duncan! My goodness, I never expected to have the honor of meeting Mr. Stuart here. I’m so excited! Mr. Stuart, let me toast to you.”

William Duncan was thrilled, but Brendon’s attitude remained cool. “Sorry, I have to drive later, so I can’t drink.”Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

With that, Brendon took Ranita’s hand and said, “I’m hungry. Let’s go eat.”

As they reached the door, Brendon suddenly stopped and turned back. “You didn’t bully Ranita, did you? I’m quite vengeful…”
