A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 855: Not Allowed

Ranita was taken by Brendon to a nice local restaurant.

Ranita was quite surprised. “This place is really good, but our local cuisine is on the sweeter side. Can you handle it?”

Brendon was notoriously picky and didn’t usually eat sweet things.

“Trying it once in a while is fine.”

Hearing this, Ranita felt a bit touched.

It seemed like Brendon was changing for her.

“Alright, if you don’t like it, we can go somewhere else.” Ranita ordered some signature dishes and earnestly explained to Brendon how they were made and whether they were good.

“Aren’t you not very good at cooking?” Brendon asked in surprise.

“I can’t cook, but I can eat, can’t I?” Ranita laughed, covering her mouth. “When I was in Steland, I often went out to eat with my brother.”

The atmosphere at the meal was quite pleasant.

Halfway through, Alexia suddenly called. The first thing she said was, “Ranita, where are you?”

“I’m having dinner with a friend. What’s up?”

“How did your coffee date with Nathan Foster go today? Any signs of further development?” Alexia’s tone was both expectant and filled with laughter.

Alexia’s voice was a bit excited, and Brendon, sitting close by, heard everything clearly.

The man immediately stared at her intently.

Ranita covered the phone, awkwardly saying to Alexia, “Mom, I’ll talk to you later. Let me finish my meal first…”

Before she could finish, Brendon grabbed her neck.

The man raised an eyebrow at her, his dark eyes filled with three parts mockery and seven parts ridicule, making the back of Ranita’s neck burn.

Feeling guilty, she patted Brendon’s hand. Meanwhile, Alexia’s voice continued, “Why aren’t you nervous at all! Nathan Foster is a good man. He even told me he doesn’t mind that you have a child. If you think he’s nice, you should meet him for dinner…”

“Mom! I don’t think it’s appropriate!” Ranita was forced to come clean. “We didn’t even finish our coffee. He probably doesn’t like me.”

This statement immediately set Alexia off. “What? Doesn’t like you? My daughter may be divorced with a child, but you’re beautiful, have a great figure, and are successful in your career. Ayaan is well-behaved, sensible, and cute. How dare Nathan Foster not like you? No way, I’m calling to ask.”

Ranita: …

“Mom, if the blind date doesn’t work out, we can still be friends. Don’t make a fuss…” Ranita quickly stopped Alexia. “If this one doesn’t work out, there’s always another one, right?”

This statement made Brendon unhappy.

He leaned closer to her other ear, blowing softly and even lightly licking her ear when she wasn’t paying attention. A shiver ran through Ranita’s body like a small electric current. She pushed Brendon away, her voice changing tone. “Mom, I’m busy right now. I’ll call you later.”

Alexia sensed something was off. “Who are you with? Are you hiding something from me?”

“Mom, no! I’m really busy here. I’ll hang up now!” Ranita quickly hung up before Alexia could react.Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

As soon as the call ended, Brendon angrily pulled her into his arms. “Ranita, are you still planning on going on blind dates?”

“No! I was just trying to appease my mom!” Ranita was extremely frustrated and pushed the man away with a red face. “People are watching. Don’t hug me.”

Although there was a screen separating them, from certain angles, they could still be seen.

Brendon was probably angry. He held her tightly and leaned in to kiss the corner of her lips, mumbling as he kissed her, “Ranita, I’m angry. You’re not allowed to go on any more blind dates.”
