A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 877: Heartbroken

Mentioning the past made Ranita inexplicably sad.

Time had passed, and her relationship with Brendon had taken many twists and turns to reach this point… She never expected it.

“You… forget it… let’s not talk about the past! It’s getting late, I really need to go back!”

“Can’t you stay a little longer?” Brendon rested his chin on her shoulder, his voice thick with affection. “I can’t bear to be without you.”

“Ranita, I don’t want to be apart from you for even a moment,” Brendon sighed softly, as if he were deeply in love.

Ranita’s heart felt as sweet as honey.

She didn’t want to be separated from Brendon either and wanted to spend more time together. Being with someone you love never gets boring; it only feels happy and sweet.

She had longed for this for so many years, and now that it was finally happening, she cherished it more than anyone.

“Half an hour! At most, I must go back in half an hour!” Ranita checked the time, her eyes curving into a bridge shape, extremely happy.

“Then come with me!” Brendon pulled her towards the room. Ranita was immediately startled, her back heating up as she said, “What are you doing? You don’t mean to…”

“Brendon, stop joking! Just half an hour… what can you do…”

By the end, her voice weakened, her cheeks reddening as she didn’t know what she was saying.

Brendon chuckled.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

He stopped and stared at her, his fingers touching her flushed cheeks. “If you want to do something, it’s not out of the question!”

“I didn’t say…” Ranita felt very embarrassed by him, her heart pounding like a drum. “Stop saying nonsense.”

Brendon laughed even more joyfully.

“Not doing anything! I want to show you something!” Brendon pulled Ranita to the desk, naturally placing her on his lap.

The office chair was spacious enough for two people to sit without feeling cramped, but Brendon’s tall frame took up most of the space, enveloping Ranita in his arms in a very intimate position.

“What do you want to show me?”

“Don’t rush!” Brendon opened the computer and clicked a few buttons. “Look!”

“Ah… this is…” Ranita’s eyes widened slightly. “You’re going to have a joint exhibition with the Cultural Museum?”

“Yes!” Brendon kissed her on the cheek. “Didn’t you used to love seeing these? Let’s go together!”

After a pause, Brendon suggested with some conscience, “Let’s bring Ayaan along!”

Ranita showed her white teeth, smiling with curved eyes. “Ayaan will be so happy if he knows!”

“If you’re interested, how about I entrust this project to you?” After all, Ranita was currently idle; it would be better for her to work on a project so he could have a legitimate reason to see her.

Ranita immediately saw through his motive.

“Brendon, are you… doing this on purpose…”

“No! This is a project hosted by the auction house. I just thought you might be interested, so I asked you!” After a pause, Brendon added, “Of course, there might be a tiny bit of personal feeling involved.”

Ranita giggled.

She was actually very tempted. She had always liked art and could visit the Cultural Museum in person.

It sounded wonderful!

“Agreed?” Brendon asked with a smile.

Ranita looked at him and wrapped her arms around his neck. “If I don’t agree, will you not let me go?”
