A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 909: Affection

Ayaan bit his lip and looked pitifully at Ranita.

“Mommy… don’t be sad.” He paused, rubbing his head against her neck. “The bad auntie is really bad; she made mommy sad!”

“She also spilled juice on Ayaan.”

“Mommy, daddy doesn’t like the bad auntie either. Please don’t be sad.”

Ranita pinched his cheek. “How do you know?”

In Brendon’s heart, no one could replace Shannon! After all, she was the neighbor’s sister he grew up with and cherished.

“I just know!” Ayaan pouted at Ranita. Ayaan looked very much like Brendon, but his eyes were rounder, like black gems, probably due to his young age.

He was especially adorable!

“Mommy, daddy said he likes mommy and likes Ayaan.”

Ranita’s heart suddenly felt heavy.

“Really?”

“Uh-huh!” Ayaan nodded vigorously. “Mommy, please don’t be sad anymore!”

Ranita forced a smile and happily ruffled her son’s hair. “Thank you for comforting me.”

Ranita was utterly exhausted. She took a sip of water and closed her eyes to rest.

Although she didn’t sleep very well, Ayaan’s comfort made her feel a little better.

Ayaan stayed by Ranita’s side.Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

When he saw that she had fallen asleep, he ran downstairs to find Alexia, only to see Alexia still having tea with Rodolfo.

Ayaan didn’t like Rodolfo.

“Ayaan, come here!” Alexia noticed him and waved.

Ayaan hesitated for a moment before running over with his short legs.

Ayaan looked like a little angel, wearing a collared shirt and suspenders. His chubby legs made him particularly handsome and cute.

“Grandma!” Ayaan obediently called out as he climbed onto her lap and looked at Rodolfo.

“Ayaan, this is Uncle Rodolfo! He was the one who brought you and your mommy back. Say hello.”

Alexia had already tested the waters earlier; Rodolfo didn’t seem to mind that Ranita had a child and even seemed to like Ayaan.

This made Alexia even happier.

“Uncle Rodolfo,” Ayaan called out but then fell silent.

Alexia felt a bit awkward. “Maybe he’s not very familiar yet, so he’s not talking much.”

“You’ll see how adorable Ayaan is once you spend more time with him,” Alexia said, praising Ayaan enthusiastically. “Ayaan is smart and well-behaved, not particularly mischievous-a good child.”

Rodolfo smiled. “Ayaan, can you come over and talk to Uncle?”

Rodolfo tried to get closer, but Ayaan ignored him.

“Grandma, are you going to give Ayaan to Uncle Rodolfo?” Ayaan asked Alexia pitifully.

Alexia hurriedly explained, “No, no! Grandma would never do that! Uncle Rodolfo is a good person; he’s your mommy’s date. If you like him…”

Although Ayaan was young, he understood.

He listened quietly and didn’t say anything.

After Rodolfo left, he ran back to the room to check on Ranita. By then, Ranita was already asleep.

Ayaan stayed for a while, then sneaked into the bathroom, carefully closing the door like a little thief, and called Brendon using his smartwatch.

To his surprise, Shannon answered the call.

“Ayaan, are you looking for Brendon? He’s busy right now. Can you wait for a bit?”

Ayaan felt a bit aggrieved.

Daddy is so bad! Daddy made mommy sad and is now with the bad auntie. Ayaan doesn’t like daddy anymore!
