Chapter 3230
Chapter 3230
Chapter 3230 Confession
Megan stared down at the plane tickets that Jake had flung at her, thoughts clamoring in her mind.
What does Jake know? Megan wondered, her heart racing wildly.
Megan was depending entirely on Jake’s loss of memory. If Jake had only been pretending to have
forgotten, and there was a possibility of him exposing the truth, Megan was entirely impotent.
At the thought, Megan felt her heart grow as heavy as a stone. She hurriedly steered the conversation
to another topic to allow herself some respite.
“Why are you bringing me to Queenston Village? I’ve only been there a few times before,” Megan said.
Jake gave Megan a wry look and said nothing.
Despite having probed for nearly the entire day, Jake was nowhere closer to establishing Megan’s true
motives. The only fact he was certain of was that Megan had come seeking Jake especially. As for
whether it was for personal reasons or otherwise, Jake was still in the dark.
No matter what Megan claimed, Jake had no way of confirming or denying her statements. All Jake
could do was to get closer to Megan while remaining wary of her.
Jake thus replied frankly, “I’ll be honest with you. I’m Gabe, the one you’ve been referring to all this
while. I have no recollection of the past at all. But if you think you can get away with tricking me, let me
first warn you that you’re no match for the consequences I’m ready to inflict. If you’re approaching me
with an ulterior purpose, I won’t let you leave my sight until I uncover the truth. Let these plane tickets
be a token of our agreement, then.”
A token of our agreement?
Megan slowly curled her fingers around the plane tickets, furiously contemplating the situation. Jake
was slowly but surely closing in upon her. The only benefit Megan could conceive of was that Jake had
no attention left to spare on Mia.
The thought did not comfort Megan. She remained nonetheless terrified that once Jake found out the
truth, she would be done for.
Megan shook her head, hastily trying to calm herself down. After all, Megan consoled herself, these
fears have not yet been realized. She massaged her temples and squeezed her eyes shut. It was as if
Megan was trying to ward off the rest of the world and the future looming over her head.
“You’re Gabe?” Megan finally managed. She gaped at Jake with a look of feigned surprise. Jake, who
had been watching Megan’s reaction closely, looked rather pleased with the effect his revelation
seemed to have had on Megan.
“Shouldn’t you have heard of this before? Anyway, it’s not important to me anymore. You don’t have to
pretend, either. You’re not as good an actress as you think you are,” Jake said coolly.
Megan was momentarily flustered by Jake’s casual denouncement. He had evidently seen through
Megan completely. The only questions that remained in Jake’s mind were whether she was really Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Megan, as well as what her motives were.
At that moment, Megan felt an incredible urge to confess everything to Jake. She was tired of the
deception, and she didn’t think that Jake would do much to her at present, even upon finding out the
truth.
Megan took a deep breath. “Forget it. I’m tired of running around in circles. I knew that you were Gabe,
just as I am indeed Megan. I didn’t want to say it before because I was worried about the trouble that
might ensue. Since you’ve already found out, there’s nothing more for me to hide from you,” she
conceded.
Jake considered Megan’s calm demeanor. She did not look as if she was lying.
Since Megan had admitted that she’d arranged for their coincidental meeting, after all, Jake figured that
he could investigate his other suspicions about Megan. He narrowed his eyes in deep thought.
Jake turned to look out at the trees flashing past his window. He felt a desolate emptiness surge within
his heart and overwhelm him. He sighed deeply, then said, “It’s just as well that you’ve confessed. I
don’t like being lied to. I’ll reserve my opinions for now until you can fill up that gap in the past,
otherwise…”
Jake paused. Megan looked at the forlorn expression on his face and felt troubled.
“Otherwise what?” she prompted uneasily.
“Nothing.” Jake raised his head, then set his jaw firmly. “Keep the plane tickets. Now that we’re heading
to Queenston Village, let’s visit your house. There’s a lot more that I still don’t know about you.”
