Branch One Hundred and Fifty
****** It is earlier in the evening and Xavier comes to pick Jessica up from her restaurant ******
“Just give me a minute and I will wrap all that I am doing and we can be on our way,” Jessica said ushering Xavier to one of the restaurant chairs she had received earlier today.
“Is that it?”This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
“Is that what?” she turned back at him confused at his question.
“I was missing you so bad that I wanted the day to be over so I could run to you but it seems like it was only me missing you. You did not miss me at all” he murmured.
“Why did you arrive at that conclusion?” she asked as she walked slowly towards him.
“Because you greeted me with so much courtesy I almost thought we were transported to the palace”
“What?” she asked with a laugh. She could barely believe her ears. So he knew how to speak in such a manner.
“I mean, when couples see each other they usually hug it out or kiss but you almost gave me a handshake. Now you are hurrying back to your work”
“I only wanted to hurry up so we could be on our way home. I am very sure you must be exhausted” she told him.
“So a hug and a quick kiss would prevent you from doing your work?” he asked pouting.
“It’s because I am new to all this” she murmured under her breath. “What made you this way anyway?” she asked out loud facing him.
“You did,” he said as he came closer to her.
“I did? When?” she asked perplexed.
“You just came into my life one day and began to draw around it in crayons and watercolor”
“That’s a strange analogy”
“But it is true. I never realized how bleak and dark my life was until you came into it. I realized at the surprise party that you are just a rare breed”
“The more time I waste the later we can get home. Can I just do something real quick?” she asked suddenly. She loved how he complimented her but she did not know how to react to it.
“After a hug from you”
“Just a hug?”
“Since you seem not to like it….”
“I never said I did not like it” she cut him off.
“Then what are you saying?”
“That I am not used to it yet and that we should take it slowly”
“Slowly it is”
Jessica had barely spent a second in the hug when she tried to peel herself from Xavier. “It’s late already why don’t we just go home?” she asked rushing to the back room to get her bag.
“Already? What of the work you said you had to wrap up?” he asked following her.
“I was personally curating the menu, I will finish it up tomorrow,” she said meeting him at the door with her jacket in one hand and bag in the other.
“Let’s go then” Xavier collected the jacket from her and intertwined their hands together. “I just want to hold your hands” Her hands relaxed into his and then they began to walk towards the car. They successfully closed up the place and entered the car
“What can we have for dinner?” Xavier asked.
“I can whip anything you want quickly when we get home” Now when she said home it felt like home. It felt warm and cozy to her.
“I was asking so we can go on a date in a fancy restaurant. I already booked so you can’t refuse or else all my money will go to waste”
“I thought you were the richest in the whole city? A few bucks won’t hurt you or would it?” she asked turning to face him.
“Of course they won’t but I really want to have this dinner with you. It would count as our first date”
“Our first date?”
“Of course”
“I like the sound of that”
“So do I”
Xavier backed out of the parking lot and drove to the restaurant. It was the same one they had come at the start of the marriage when a scandal broke and they had to do damage control.
“This place holds so many memories for me” she exclaims as they pull up to the valet stand.
“I think this is a good place to start,” he said and she nodded in agreement.
“The last time we came here I was so focused on the scandal and you being so annoying that I barely was able to enjoy the meal,” she tells him. “But their meals looked so delicious then”
“Are you still working now?” he asked when he saw the smile on her face.
“Not at all, I am on a date with my husband and I plan to enjoy it,” she said and he felt a smile climb up his face. “And the good food too” she added in a whisper which made him laugh out loud.
He opened his door and rounded the car coming to her side and then opened the door. “Shall we?” he asked stretching his hand hand to her.
She smiled and took his hand and stepped out. She was glad that once upon a time she took Leslie’s advice about dressing classy. If she did not wear branded clothes today she would have felt so out of place and as if she was embarrassing Xavier.
Her clothes did give her confidence and she loved it.
“Mr. Delgado, shall I give you the same table as the last time?” the manager asked rushing up to him.
“No we want some privacy,” he said facing Jessica who had her hands draped on his.
“A private room”
