Several seconds clicked by before Meagan stepped out of his embrace. “I have to leave. My dad needs me to be by his side.” She muttered.

Jones nodded in agreement. “Alright. I can help you book the next available flight to Connecticut and I’ll also drive you to the airport.” He brought out his cellphone to text a friend who works at the airport.

“Thank you, Jones. I should go in and tell Hazel about it.” Meagan moved to the door.

“Wait Meagan,” Jones caught up with her and locked their hands with a bright smile on his face. “Don’t panic everything will be fine, Meagan.” Je reassured her.

They walked back to the hall and towards the couple who were talking to some set of military men.

“Hazel,” Meagan called and the bride turned at her best friend. “Can we talk?” She requested.

And with an apologetic smiles on the couple faces, Julius locked hand with his bride and excused themselves from the discussion.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” Hazel asked when she noticed the perturbed look on her best friend’s face.

“I am fine. But I have to leave to Connecticut.” Meagan had an apologetic look on her face.

“Why?” The couple demanded in unison.

“You promised to stay till Monday. Is it a call from work again? Won’t you witness your first full wolf moon celebration? You can’t leave yet.” Hazel protested with a pout on her lips.

“I wish I could stay. But Penelope called not too long saying that dad collapsed.” Meagan informed her.

A sad look crossed the bride’s face. “I hope he is fine.” Julius said.

“He is at the hospital as we speak.” Meagan replied.

Hazel noticed her best friend locked hands with her cousin. She knew Jones was ready to do anything to win Meagan over. So she reached out to hold her best friend’s free hand.

“You should leave to be with dad. Jones, can you help book the next flight to Connecticut and also drive my best friend to the airport?” Hazel eyes pleaded with her older cousin.

“Yes, I already made the offer. I don’t mind doing anything for her.” Jones agreed.

“Good. Or should I come along with you to the airport?” Hazel asked.

“No I’ll be the one to go with them to the airport.” Julius added.

Meagan shook her head to protest. “Look, just take a look around. There are lots of guests waiting to have a chat with the newly wed couple.” She looked around the busy hall with her eyes stylishly trying to find the alpha.

“Okay. But give me a call or send me a text when you get to Connecticut.” Hazel said as tears clouded her vision.

Meagan nodded in agreement as they embraced each other. “I am sure dad will be alright.” Hazel whispered.

“Yes. And happy married life once again. I wish you a blissful marriage with your mate.” Meagan replied as she took a step backwards. “Please don’t cry.” She reached out to wipe the tears that streamed down her best friend face with her fingertips. “It’s your wedding. I don’t want the spirit of bride to haunt me on my way downtown o Connecticut.” She joked.

Hazel managed to smile as she held Meagan’s hands. “Meagan, I know I have said this to you earlier but I’ll say it again. Thank you for everything. Thank you for being a very good friend to me. Thank you for taking on the chief’s bridesmaid function for my wedding.” She sniffed.

“It’s nothing. But the best I can do as your best friend. I can’t imagine missing your wedding. I cherish you, Hazel.” She hugged her best friend again.

“I’ll go ahead and make a call and then bring my car over.” Jones said loud enough for them to hear as he walked away.

“I love you, Meagan Swift.” Hazel didn’t want to let go of her best friend yet when she tried to pull away.

“I love you too. I’ll miss you so much. And do have a great honeymoon with your mate.” Meagan managed to step out of the embrace. She already had tears straying down her cheeks too.

“Take care of yourself. I wish dad quick recovery. Say me hi to your family and thank you to Penelope for the congratulatory money she sent.” Hazel smiled.

Meagan sniffed and wiped her tears. “Oh she did sent a gift to you as promised.”

Hazel nodded. “It’s huge. And I didn’t expect such amount for her.”

“Extend my greeting to your family.” Julius embraced Meagan but it ended abruptly.

“Have fun on your honeymoon.” Meagan gave her best friend’s hand a small squeeze. “Bye, best friend.” And with that she walked away from the couple.
