Chapter 15: She Ran Away
Chapter 15: She Ran Away
Alvera was nervous, but she managed to control her emotions.
"Mr. Francois, you're not well. You'd better sit down," she said.
"Do you really think that I don't have a family doctor?"
Alvera was stunned for a moment. "So you're fine now?"
"Do I look like I'm not? I can show you if you like," he replied.
"No need," Alvera replied immediately, "Looks like I didn't need to get the medicine after all. I'll go back
to the hospital, then."
"You did just remind me, you're my wife. I haven't done my duty as a husband yet. Since you're not
sick, you don't need to stay in the hospital. Go upstairs and take a bath," he said.
Alvera looked at him. He was bad at acting as well, but his hormones were obviously out of control.
She had to stay away from him, but resistance was not a good idea right now.

She remembered that he also took a bath next door while she was showering yesterday.
She stayed in the bathroom for two minutes, and then pulled the door open.
Sure enough, there was no one in the room.
She smiled and left the room quietly.
Downstairs, she met Butler Lee.
"Butler Lee," she said calmly, "Mr. Francois is looking for you. I'll be leaving now."
"Okay, Ms. Alvera, take care."
Alvera watched the butler head upstairs. Once he was out of sight, she ran outside quickly, got into her
car, and drove away triumphantly.
...
...
When Roland came out of the room, he saw Butler Lee standing at the door.
He raised his eyebrows in question. "Why are you standing here?"
Butler Lee hesitated for a moment and replied, "Ms. Alvera said you were looking for me before she
left."
"Left?" Roland turned and walked quickly into the next room.
The door to the bathroom was open, and there was no one in the room.
To his own surprise, he smiled.
She ran away.
He took out his cell phone and dialled her number, but her phone had been turned off.
...
"Very good," he thought. "This woman..."
...
Alvera did not go back to the hospital. Instead, she went back to her seaside villa and slept there for
the rest of the night.
The sound of the crashing waves lulled her to sleep like soothing music.
She slept well that night.
Before leaving for the hospital the next day, she told Becky, her housekeeper, to bring her meals at the
hospital from today onwards.
When she arrived at the hospital, she was worried that Roland would find trouble with her for what
happened the night before.
Thankfully, he did not.
In fact, she did not see him for the next four days.
She only saw him again on the day of the surgery, in front of the operating room.
He was with Andrina.
Andrina, lying on the bed, held Roland's hands tightly.
"Roland, if I die, you must forget me. Find a woman who loves you and lead a good life," she said
tearfully.
"Don't be silly. It's just a minor operation. You'll be fine," he replied.
"Don't comfort me anymore," Andrina said, with tears in her eyes. "I know... what kind of operation this
is. I am happy to have known you in my life and been your woman."
Luna was also crying beside them.
Alvera looked on at their tearful goodbyes, her heart as cold as a stone.
She said to the nurse who was pushing her bed, "Let's go in first."
Roland raised his head and looked at Alvera, but she had already closed her eyes, so she did not see
the worry in his eyes.
...
Andrina, noticing this, quickly called out to her, "Alvera."
Alvera opened her eyes and looked at Andrina.
"Alvera, I'm sorry you have to suffer for me. If I die, you must take care of my parents for me," she said.
Alvera smiled without any emotions. "Okay."
The atmosphere around them was awkward.
"Let's go," Alvera said told the nurse again.
"Wait!" Just then, a breathless voice yelled from the distance.
Alvera sat up and looked around. It was Samuel.
Samuel ignored everyone else and came to Alvera's side.
"Thank goodness I made it," he said.
Alvera frowned. "Why did you come? I told you not to."
"How can I let you face this huge operation by yourself?" he replied. "I've got good news for you."
