Chapter 259
Chapter 259
At nine o’clock in the evening, valor came through like a whirlwind, grabbing his collection of condoms and various adult toys from Howard’s place.
Only one box of condoms was left in the drawer, the very same one they had opened back at Crescent Village.
Howard held the box with his lean fingers and turned to Gwendolyn, his voice teasing, “Shall we use it up? It’ll go bad if we don’t.” Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
His gaze was unapologetically hungry, the desire for her plain to see.
Gwendolyn’s eyes shimmered with brightness and shyness, her voice a whisper. “I hate to waste them, either.”
The subtext was crystal clear.
Howard chuckled. His excitement was palpable as his pale fingers with their writer’s calluses hovered over the zipper on her back, sending a tingle down her spine.
“Hold on. Let me check in with the hospital first Gwendolyn remembered the last time they were interrupted and quickly texted the on–call doctor. Only when she assured herself that all was well did she relax.
“Bath time,” Howard declared, scooping her in his arms and striding into the bathroom. He set her on the vanity, their eyes level, and captured her lips in a deep kiss, Gwendolyn, breathless, clung to him.
She wanted this, too.
It was a good time.
Then, there came the intrusive ring of a cell phone.
“Mr. Chadwick, it’s your phone…” she managed between uneven breaths.
“Ignore it,” he said firmly, determined not to answer, as she melted into his kiss.
“Mr. Chadwick! Mr. Chadwick, there’s been an emergency!” Marina’s voice cut through, knocking on the door.
His expression darkened, and Howard reluctantly stepped back at Gwendolyn’s urging. “Marina wouldn’t disturb us unless it was urgent
With a quick peck on her lips, he quipped, “Next time, well get a room and leave the phones at home.”
Gwendolyn nodded, the picture of understanding.
Opening the door, Howard saw Marina’s anxious face. “What is it, Marina?”
“It’s a call from the Hamilton family. I wouldn’t have bothered you, but Ms. Hamilton has been calling repeatedly. She said, um, she said…” Marina glanced toward Gwendolyn, then whispered something in Howard’s ear.
He scoffed, “Do I look like I can cure diseases?”
“She insisted you call back and said it was urgent.”
“Got it.”
Howard followed Marina downstairs, leaving Gwendolyn to their fading footsteps. Moments later, there came the roar of an engine. Gwendolyn ran to the balcony on the second floor only to find Howard and
Cliff had left in haste.
It must be about the Hamilton family.
A nagging unease settled in Gwendolyn’s heart. That night, she slept restlessly, only to be jolted awake at five in the moming by a startling call.
“Selina tried to kill herself Jeannie’s voice was with shock and fear. “She was rushed to Bayridge Hospital last night.”
Gwendolyn’s heart sank. So, Howard had gone to the hospital.
Selina had attempted suicide!
“Gwen, after you guys left yesterday, I gave Selina a piece of my mind. Then Mrs. Frank banned the Hamilton family, the Gonzalez family, and Brenda from the Luxe Legacy Bidding. They’re all on the blacklist now”
“Mrs. Frank, the one you saved her child. The Luxe Legacy Bidding auction hall is a legacy from her family,”
Selina had utterly lost her dignity the previous day.”
Jeannie was troubled. “Did I push her too far?” She disliked Selina but never wished her dead. Jeannie was inherently kind and couldn’t ignore a life in peril.
“Don’t worry. Il find out more at work today,” Gwendolyn reassured her softly.
“Sure.” Jeannie hung up the phone with unease.
