Chapter 495 What Happened
Chapter 495 What Happened
"It's already too late. Why did you follow me outside? Do you want some wine? Do you want me to take
you out for a drink?" Zack asked as he walked into the yard and smiled at Zed.
"Uh-huh!" Zed didn't deny as he turned to Zack. Zed said gloomily," Let's go to your cellar and have a
drink!"
"What happened?" Zack joked earlier but he didn't expect Zed to take it seriously. Zack was stunned
and he stared at Zed.
"Nothing serious! I just want to have a drink tonight." Zed didn't explain much and got in Zack's car. He
closed his eyes as Zack got in the car. Zed didn't want to talk.
Zack got worried because he had never seen Zed act like this ever before so he remained silent all the
way to his mansion.
The car stopped before a lavish mansion.
The mansion was in the residential area of the city.
It was well equipped and had everything.
Zack led Zed to the cellar without saying anything.
As they entered the cellar, it took them about ten-minute walk along the path to a broad space having
all the bottles of wine.
Zack had a great collection of wine in his cellar. They were all arranged on shelves.
The air was filled with a sweet aroma. The cellar was dark, which seemed a little spooky.
"Help yourself! I'll keep you company as long as you want to stay here tonight," Zack said in a very
generous tone.
Zed had been in Zack's cellar before too. But he got surprised every time he came here.
It seemed Zack was not interested in anything except for collecting wine. Zed had been friends with
him for many years, but he still couldn't understand why Zack loved that.
As Zed heard Zack's words, he grabbed a bottle of Lafite from 1982 and headed to the next room.
"Hey, don't you think of yourself as an outsider!" As Zack saw Zed pick such a great bottle of wine, he
shouted,"Are you upset? Then you should have some whisky or XO! I was saving Lafite to drink with
my future girlfriend."
Zed asked as he was displeased," We've been friends for a very long time. And I'm not important to
you as your future girlfriend?" ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
"I didn't mean that! I just think that this drink doesn't suit you tonight," explained Zack and then smiled
bitterly.
"All right! Have a glass of this." The next room was decorated lavishly. Zed went in and walked to the
wine shelf to pick up two glasses. Then he opened the bottle of Lafite and poured it into the glasses.
Zack didn't say anything else because he knew that Zed was a little strange tonight.
He walked to Zed, nudged him with his elbow and asked,"What exactly happened? Weren't you alright
earlier? And why are you here drinking wine with me? Are you okay with leaving your beloved wife
behind? Isn't she pregnant? Do you regret being a dad?"
"Nonsense!" As he heard Zack's words, Zed looked at him and sighed heavily. "I'm just a little upset."
"What is on your mind? Tell me over the drink. What is bothering you?" Zack asked curiously.
"It's a long story!" Zed told Zack everything that happened with the Wen family and his face darkened.
He was frustrated.
"Winner died. Shirley is going to jail. As for Joy, she will pay for what she did in the past. Nobody can
harm Jean now. Then what is bothering you? You've survived all the troubles in the past. Why are you
upset when everything is fine?" asked Zack because he couldn't understand what Zed was going
through.
"Joy called me today," replied Zed as he looked somewhere else instead of Zack.
"What did she say?" asked Zack as he knew whatever she said had been bothering Zed.
"She..." Zed sighed heavily and said," she knew that Shirley is okay but she didn't visit her. She told me
she was too embarrassed to visit Shirley and she didn't care for anything in the world any more. So she
had planned to leave this world so that it could bring some good to others."
"What is that supposed to mean?" asked Zack as he got confused.
"She was diagnosed with lung cancer. And it was diagnosed too late to even get cured. She only have
a few months to live. With her time left, she had planned to visit the places where she had always
wanted to go. Hence, she called me to say goodbye,"
Zed replied.
"Nobody can predict the future," Zack said emotionally and sighed.
When he saw Zed's face, he laughed and added,"Zed, since when did you start caring for vicious
women? Joy deserves this. It's not your fault."
"I'm not blaming myself!" Zed sighed as he added," I just don't know how to tell Jean. She already has
so much to worry about. I don't know if she will be able to bear this."
"Jean doesn't like her step-mother, right? You are overthinking. She wouldn't care for Joy at all." As
Zack finished his words, he poured some wine into their glasses and passed one to Zed. "I thought
something serious had happened, but you drank my favourite bottle of wine for such a tiny issue," Zack
teased Zed because he really loved this wine.
"You have no idea!" Zed shook his head as he continued," Jean just got pregnant and she is really
weak. According to the doctor, she has to remain peaceful and not worry about anything. It's too
dangerous for her and the baby as the first three months of pregnancy are the most crucial. I'm afraid
what happened to Joy might worry Jean and affect her.
It is true that Joy never treated Jean well, but Jean asked me today to arrange an appointment for Joy
and Shirley. Obviously, her hatred for Joy has faded away. If she finds out that Joy won't live long, Jean
would definitely be upset. She will feel sorry for Shirley."
"Then don't tell her!" Zack replied as he thought it was the only easy way out.
"It's easy for you to say that!" Zed sighed and added," Joy confessed to the police but she hasn't been
taken in custody yet. She won't get away from her time in prison. And that's why she called me today.
She found out that I have a friend working in the police station and she hoped that I can help her out so
that she can die naturally."
"Die naturally?" Zack was shocked and then added," Joy was lying to you. She did this so she can get
away from her time in prison. She said that just to get your sympathy and then get away from her
punishment."
