Chapter 119
Was this b*tch trying to get Grandma killed?
Subconsciously, Hallie placed her hand on the doorknob as she wanted to push the door open. However, she halted as an evil thought flashed across her mind. "No, I shouldn’t act on impulse. If I rush in now, Grandma might defend this b*tch and scold me instead."
"This is a huge opportunity for me to go against her!"
She murmured to herself before craning her neck to have a look again.
"It smells so good! It's extremely delicious! Ally, you're the best!"
"Look at me. I'm having meat but my body is still perfectly fine! Who said eating meat will harm my body? Besides, I am feeling way better nowadays! They don't even trust me when I tell them. If I feel ill after eating meat, I'll just stop eating meat then!"
"Grandma, everyone is just worried about your health! As for me, I have committed a big crime! You have to keep it a secret! Please tell me if you are feeling unwell..."
"I got it! I won’t expose you. I feel so much better recently and my stomach feels fine too. My mood has improved a lot as well! Ally, next time, could you bring a bigger piece of meat for me? You could bring me two pieces of drumstick too! I'll feel much better if I'm able to eat more meat!"
"Grandma, when you are discharged from the hospital, you can even have ten pieces of drumsticks! But for now, there are a bunch of bodyguards outside. If they found out, you can't even have this piece of meat! Next time, I will prepare a little bit more for you!"
"Alright, alright! You do remember that!"
Hearing their conversation, Hallie slowly took a few steps back and turned around to leave. She didn't even retrieve the key that she accidentally left in the ward before.
Hallie returned home in a hurry. Once she was home, she pulled her mother into her room and told her everything.
"Are you serious?"
"Yes! I saw it with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears. She even got rid of Miranda! I am pretty sure she has been doing this for a day or two." Hallie lowered her voice as a trace of viciousness flashed in her eyes.
She had lost her cat Baby due to this b*tch. She wouldn't let her get into the Clements family so easily!
"No wonder Grandma's temper is getting better recently. This woman is really good at pretending to be a good person! Mom, I really despise her! She even looks like a seductress, which is really annoying!"
Penny's eyes darkened while she was touching the diamond ring on her finger. She turned to look at Hallie.
"I know that you don't like her, but we have to discuss this matter carefully. We can't act rashly! Your grandmother is our main priority, understand?"
Hallie was still young. She didn't know how to stay calm and even dared to say everything out loud. However, this was indeed a good opportunity!
With an appearance like hers, it was obvious that she was not a "good wife¹' material. However, Grandma was very fond of her still. Besides, any ordinary man would fall for her. It was only a matter of time before she gave birth to a child for the Clements family.
What would their family do in the future if she managed to seize a place in the Clements family?
The burden of her own family had already been hard for Alicia. However, ever since Grandma's surgery, Alicia had been super busy for the past two weeks. She could only sleep for a few hours per day.
But, as long as her family was getting better, she would feel elated and she wouldn't mind feeling tired at all. However, as she was exhausted every day, she couldn't remember the dates and she didn't have the time to contact Frederick either. She didn't even notice that they hadn't contacted each other for quite some time while Grandma was sick.
One particular day, it was time for Mrs. Clements to get a body check- up. As it was a full- body examination, she couldn't have breakfast. However, Alicia had already prepared some stew with some meatballs for her. Although Mrs. Clements couldn't hold it with her hands, being spoon-fed made her happy still as the food was to her liking.
Alicia arrived at the hospital early in the morning. She and Miranda both helped Mrs. Clements up to have a body check-up. The whole morning went by just like that. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
At noon, Mrs. Clements sent Miranda off to have lunch. When Alicia and Mrs. Clements returned to the ward, both of them smiled at each other.
"Grandma, wait a minute. I'll warm up some stew for you. Today, I have prepared some beef stew with potato. I have added some ravioli for you too. Grandma, the doctor said that you've fully recovered and if there's nothing serious, you can be discharged from the hospital in the afternoon. Don't worry, you can have lots of meat in the future."
As Alicia was speaking, she was setting everything up on the small dining table. She took out a lunch box on the other side and showed her ravioli of different colors.
"Grandma, the purple one is made from sweet potato, the yellow one is made from pumpkin, whereas the green one is made from spinach. I have added some meat to it! But, you can only have two of them! It'll be difficult for you to digest if you have too much! Grandma, you can’t eat it behind my back!"
"Ally, you are really good at cooking! I'll eat a pumpkin one then. I don't crave meat as much anymore. Maybe it is because I have been staying in the hospital for too long. It felt like I was in jail here, thus it made me crave fish or meat!"
As Mrs. Clements mumbled, Alicia couldn't help laughing. "It's good that you don't want to eat meat anymore."
In fact, she still agreed with what the doctor had said. After all, everyone had to follow the rules. When they reached a certain age, it was better for them to control their diet.
Alicia poured a bowl of stew for Mrs. Clements before preparing a cup of warm water as well. Afterwards, she peeled an apple for her. Seeing that Mrs. Clements was enjoying the meal, she cut the apple into small pieces and placed them into a box next to her with toothpicks on it.
She had never measured the ingredients whenever she was cooking, thus the final consistency of the stew would always turn out differently. It would either be too watery or too thick at times.
Grandma had to eat light food, thus she would prepare a few side dishes for her. Moreover, she made sure Mrs. Clements would eat at least two dishes. Otherwise, she would not allow her to have meat. The main purpose was to make sure her diet was balanced.
It was said that old people had the same temperament as a child, and Alicia felt it too. But, most of the time, they got along with each other pretty well.
After Alicia washed her hands in the bathroom, she heard Mrs. Clements coughing violently. She took a few big steps over, wanting to help ease her discomfort by patting her back.
"Grandma, how are you feeling?"
Just as she was about to pour her a glass of water, the door of the ward was slammed open with a loud bang out of the blue. The next second, the whole Clements family rushed in. Hallie then scurried to the bedside and pushed Alicia away.
"Grandma?"
"What did you feed Grandma?" As she was speaking, she knocked over everything that was on the table. She even snatched the bowl of stew from her grandmother's hands.
"Why do I smell beef? Didn't you know that Grandma has just recovered from a serious illness and the doctor has told us not to let her eat meat?"
