Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia)

Chapter 157

"You said that you would provide me warmth for my whole life!"

He could clearly remember what she had once said and promised. But, at this moment, for some unknown reasons, he couldn't voice it out.

The woman in front of him was familiar but he also felt estranged!

Six years was neither too long nor too short. A lot of things had changed these few years. Just like her appearance, it had changed a lot too!

He was also no longer the same person he used to be!

Tears were rolling down Danica's cheeks but she suddenly bit her lip.

"Are you... facing some difficulties?" he asked.

She kept shaking her head and stayed silent about what had happened that year. After a long time, she muttered out of the blue, "Frederick, even if I came back, we can't be together anymore, can we? Will you even do anything for me just like before?"

With her soft voice and her face full of tears, it touched Frederick's soft spot, making him feel speechless.

The woman in front of him was his dream from childhood to adulthood!

However, at this moment, he couldn't give a definite answer. The words couldn't escape from his mouth. He thought of his grandmother and the rules of the Clements family. He thought about Alicia, who had done a lot for him and his beloved grandmother...

Perhaps, at this moment, his heart was indeed more inclined to her childhood sweetheart as they had deep feelings for each other. But, what about his grandmother? He could ignore all the affairs of the Clements family but he couldn't disobey his grandmother, could he?

In addition, there was also Alicia. Thinking of her, he unexpectedly felt distressed!

"You won't! You don't want me anymore!" After a moment of hesitation, Danica turned around and ran away with tears in her eyes.

"Danica..."

Frederick shouted but he did not chase after her.

He picked up the box that he had dropped on the ground and saw a price tag. It seemed that she had dropped it.

30 dollars?

Did she buy a shirt at a discounted price of fewer than 30 dollars?

What had she gone through in the past few years? Why did she look so haggard and depressed? After all, she was the eldest daughter of the Randolph family, who owned tens of millions of assets! No matter what, she would have possessed some real estate and stocks, right?

It was the first time that Frederick had stood at the same spot for a long time. He was at a loss!

Frederick had been wanting to find this woman for a long time, but when his wish came true, he was caught unprepared. After a short moment of joy, it was replaced by endless emptiness and melancholy.

He was deeply trapped by an inexplicable emotion...

He didn't try to inquire about her anymore. Instead, he returned to Casterwich City swiftly. However, he didn't go back to Landrum Garden straight away nor did he contact Alicia.

The next few days, Frederick stayed in his office and was in a daze.

One day, he was going through the recordings of the meetings. As soon as Chet walked in, he saw that Frederick was propping his chin on his hands and was lost in his thoughts again. After returning from Lesterdam City, it seemed that such a posture had become his habit. Whenever Chet entered, Frederick would be in the same position.

Following his gaze, he saw a pot of jasmine flowers on the rack on one side. On the other side, there was a black bag on top of the cabinet. Over the past few days, his gaze would be lost in that direction.

Chet scratched the back of his head and was quite puzzled.

What was wrong with Frederick recently? He had not been to any of the meetings and he seemed to be not interested in anything... It was too abnormal!

In Chet's eyes, this rack never changed for a few years and he was so familiar with it. So he was puzzled why did Frederick look at the rack all the time? However, in the world of Frederick, jasmine flowers represented Danica and the bag represented Alicia.

Every day, when his eyes fell on it, he would feel indecisive as he couldn't make a decision.

As Chet placed the documents in front of him, he whispered, "Frederick, today's meeting is going to be recorded..."

Suddenly, he came to his senses and found that he still couldn't concentrate. "Noted."

Frederick raised his hand and gestured for him to sit down. Then, he checked the documents and signed on the pages. "Do as planned. You can make your own decisions!"

Chet' memories of Frederick was that he was always swift and vigorous.

Chet had never seen him being so idle and depressed. He was quite surprised, thus he uttered, "Frederick, are you feeling too tired?"

He shouldn't have acted this way. It was a case costing 10 billion dollars! How could he react like this? Suddenly, something appeared in Chet's mind. "A man is indecisive in his relationship."

Did it have anything to do with love or women?

Frederick looked up and straightened his body. 'Tm not tired. There are some things that I haven't figured out yet!"

Looking at Chet, Frederick felt that he was like his brother whom he had been with for more than a decade. Out of the blue, Frederick spoke in a cold voice.

"Chet, if it was you and there are two pens, one is a new one and you love it very much; the other is an old one but you are used to it, which one will you choose?"

After thinking for a while, Chet answered, "Perhaps the old one? I've gotten used to it!"

After a pause, Frederick suddenly felt that this metaphor seemed to be very inappropriate. Yes, the new pen might not write well, but the old one's condition was quite clear.

Looking at Frederick's furrowed brows, Chet guessed that he must have encountered some kind of decision-making problem. Obviously, his answer made him feel doubtful and hesitant.

"Frederick, if you really like the new one, you can go ahead and choose the new one! If I give you tell you that I will choose the new pen, you will doubt whether the new one is bad or not! In fact, the first reaction is the most accurate! I chose the old one. If you agree with me, it means that you love the old one and are inclined to the old one. If you have doubts, it means that your heart has already chosen the new one!"

These words hit the bullseye, causing Frederick to stay silent! Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

Looking at his reaction, Chet had roughly guessed what was going on in his mind.

"Frederick, not everything can be analyzed with reasons. Even if you really want to analyze it, it's not necessarily right! Why don't you follow your heart? Isn't it simpler? Let nature take its course. Maybe, you will get the answer after taking a stroll! Don't back yourself into a corner!"

That woman was most likely the only one who could make Frederick so confused!

He had been with Danica for more than ten years and he had been thinking of her, yet he still hesitated. Didn't this mean that he had genuine feelings for Miss Blanchard? Chet pondered.

This woman was indeed powerful! How could she make Frederick so hesitant in just a few days?

From the corner of his eye, Frederick subconsciously glanced at the other side. He was still having trouble making up his mind. Hence, he waved his hand and spoke.

"Alright, let me calm down first!"

Chet got up and walked out of the room.

The door of the room was closed slowly and Frederick's eyes darkened again.

Follow his heart?

He had always hated men who couldn’t be loyal. He never cared about the blessings of others and never liked having any messy or complicated relationships. He rarely hesitated as well. But, this time, he was really indecisive.
