Chapter 171
The woman he had been missing and was still so gentle to him. However, she had betrayed him before!
On the other hand, Alicia, who was his wife, said that she did not care about him at all!
He was very sure that he could only have one of the two women. Why would he still stick around when Alicia said that she did not care?
Was there something wrong with him?
Women were the most mysterious species in the world! Why would he hesitate when she did not care about him and had another sc*mbag in her mind?
As the smoke became thicker, Frederick's eyebrows knitted even more tightly.
Just as he was about to lose it from his annoyance, his phone rang.
He came to his senses when he saw that Danica was calling him. Frederick put out the cigarette, took a moment to calm himself down, and answered the call.
"Danica. It's me!"
"Frederick, am I disturbing you?"
He smiled slightly as he heard Danica's ever-gentle voice. Her beautiful figure flashed across his mind as he curled his lip slightly. He then shook his head to get rid of the image and replied to her coldly.
"No!"
"I know you're busy, thus I'll make it quick! Are you free tonight? Let's have dinner together! It's been so long since I saw my friends, I have invited them tonight to East Bannpool. Let's go together after dinner, alright?"
After chatting for a while, Frederick did not refuse her as it was just a casual dinner. After that, all he could hear was Danica's voice of care, but he was absent-minded and didn't pay attention to her. He felt nothing for her.
It was not until he heard the end of the conversation that he replied, "I will see you tonight!"
After hanging up the phone, he suddenly felt empty.
Meanwhile, Alicia was feeling extremely down after work. She did not want to go home to face her empty house, therefore she went to the arcade. She took out fifty dollars as she was preparing to get some plushies from the claw machine.
If she spent more than an hour at the arcade, she would probably fall asleep right away when she got back home.
It was purely to pass time. Alicia went in but was not in a hurry. She sat on the lounge chair for half an hour. When she got up, she did not have much interest in the dolls. She did not put much effort into clawing for those toys.
After a while, she spent all fifty dollars but she was still empty-handed.
She started grabbing her hair out of frustration. A staff member came over and handed her 20 more tokens. "Miss, the manager wants to thank you for showing your mercy the last time. This is a reward for you!"
Alicia was kidding last time and did not expect the manager to take it seriously. She then took it and replied bluntly, "Thank the manager for me!"
Since she already spent fifty dollars mindlessly, it would be good if she continued to play for a little longer!
Alicia turned around and continued. Maybe because of the reward, she suddenly felt much better. Even her luck got seemingly better. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
"Not bad!"
Although she only caught a small rabbit doll, it was nice to not be empty-handed. Moreover, it was her first time getting a doll from the claw machine.
With the pinkish rabbit doll in her hand, she left happily.
When she got back to her car, she placed the rabbit by the window. She felt overjoyed looking at her own hard work. Then, she looked at the time and realized that it was just eight o'clock.
"Why is time passing by so slowly?"
As soon as she said this, her cell phone rang. It was from the director and he wanted to know if it was convenient for Alicia to go collect a receipt. As she had nothing to do and the task was easy, she immediately agreed.
"Sign and get the receipt, there are two contracts... Check the stamp...¹'
After repeating them to herself, Alicia took out a pen and scribbled on a paper. "Mr. John Andrews from Readex? Alright, no problem! I will bring it to work tomorrow!"
Alicia set a reminder up after hanging up. Right then, she received a phone number.
As she dialed the number, she started the car.
Right when she put her phone down while stopping at a traffic light, she inadvertently turned her head and saw two familiar figures walking out of a magnificent hotel.
Frederick and that woman?
Although she couldn't see the woman's face clearly from a distance, her intuition told her that the woman was the one reported to be seen with him at the musical!
The woman was wearing a long black dress similar to the one reported. Her elegant curves were accentuated when the wind blew. She wore a beige coat and her long hair was blowing under the light. She had an eye-catching bright red bag. Alicia was sure that this woman had good taste.
She held Frederick's arm and they appeared quite intimate.
Suddenly, it was as if there was a knife piercing through her heart. Alicia's heart ached and her emotions were all over the place.
Behind her, harsh honking sounds were heard. Only then Alicia looked away and stepped on the gas pedal.
Frederick and Danica were standing in front of the hotel after dinner. They chatted while waiting for their car to come over. She leaned slightly against Frederick's arm with a beautiful smile on her face.
"I used to hold you like this whenever we hung out. I've missed it so much. This feels good..."
Her gentle voice rang in his ears. He lowered his head to glance at her without saying anything, showing a weak smile on his face.
If it had been Alicia, she would have been giggling and leaned directly on him!
Alicia was way different even when it was the same action! She was always full of energy. She was cheerful and was never boring. Whereas for Danica, she was calm while gently leaning on his shoulder.
When he suddenly thought of Alicia, he imagined her doing the same thing to Jeremy. Frederick became more annoyed!
Right at this moment, Chet drove the car over.
He opened the car door and both of them got in.
Her sitting posture was ladylike and well-behaved. She was still holding onto Frederick's arm and it was obvious that Danica was excited.
"I've been back for a while but I haven't seen Carson and the rest yet! I've been away for so long and I miss them so much! Do they still remember me? Will they be disappointed by how I look now?"
"They should be doing fine now, right?"
It was obvious that she was not confident and was a little sad. In fact, Frederick felt that she had changed a lot. Even when she smiled, there was a hint of sadness in her eyes.
He sensed that she had gone through something. However, whenever he asked, she would cry and leave angrily. After a few times, he stopped asking.
Frederick knew she needed time.
