Chapter 177
Frederick smiled faintly. This time, he didn't answer because he suddenly realized that he disliked spongers. Their different views were slowly leading to a disagreement.
This was different from when they used to share the same views. This feeling was terrible. He liked the lively woman compared to the serene, effeminate woman lying in his arms. Her gentleness and calmness were dull and soulless, making him feel uncomfortable!
He couldn't stand it anymore —he felt that he was going crazy and sick. If he stayed any longer, everything would feel so unnatural. Slowly, he pushed Danica away.
"Well, have a good rest! I'll come to see you another time!"
With that, he got up and walked away in huge strides.
When he got home, all he could think about was Alicia. He wanted to go back to that home. Late at night, he was smoking and pacing around in the house, slowly losing his composure.
"What on earth did she do to bewitch me?"
He could have had a woman who would throw herself at him or an obedient woman, but no! All he could think about was that capricious and proud person! Who knew that he would be so dumb?
He was with another woman and she didn't even bat an eyelid? In her heart, was money the only important thing?
The sudden realization hit him like a cold bucket of water and he finally calmed down.
A sudden pain was felt at his fingertips and he quickly snuffed out the burning cigarette butt as a complication look appeared in his eyes.
In the end, he put down the car keys in his hand and turned around to enter the bathroom.
Alicia tossed and turned that night. She felt as if she was in a dream. Just as dawn approached, she sat up in bed again.
Rubbing her messy hair, she couldn't help but let out a long sigh and beat her suffocating chest.
She thought that he would have come back!
Knocking herself on her forehead, Alicia couldn't help muttering, "What is wrong with me? Do I really want him to come back?"
Habits were sometimes very daunting.
He usually would come back after he caught her, although when he came back, he would lecture her most of the time. However, it seemed that things were different this time. That woman must be different.
Feeling pangs of pain in her heart, Alicia unconsciously bit her lip.
"Why would you want a man who doesn't care about you and is unfaithful to your marriage? Alicia Blanchard, are you so desperate?"
"Perhaps Victoria is right..."
For the past three years, she had been too tired and lonely. When someone had gotten close to her, she immediately took the gratitude for love! In such a short time, was she already used to having him around?
Bitterly tugging the corner of her mouth, Alicia stretched and gave herself a word of encouragement.
"It's better to just get the pain over with! What's so good about Frederick Clements, that overbearing, nitpicking man? Bad habits must be corrected! I don't care about him! I don't care! I don't care!"
After shouting out loud, Alicia got up. "I should go jogging! Make money! Money is still the most reliable thing. It won't just abandon me."
She had already come by those three difficult years, what else would she be afraid of? She just had to get rid of her habits of being used to someone! She could do it! If no one would love her, she must love herself more!
After freshening up, Alicia changed into her sportswear and went out early. She jogged for five kilometers around the compound, came back, and took a bath before making herself an exquisite breakfast. After a change of clothes, she purposely put on red lipstick to enhance her complexion and with some hesitation, put on the pair of asymmetrical butterfly earrings before going to work looking pretty.
In the next few days, Frederick was no longer irritable but was very down. It was as if he had been covered by layers of ice-he was so cold that he gave others the shudders.
One day, Chet walked in with some documents and saw him sitting like an ice sculpture, his chin resting on his hand in a daze.
Handing him the documents, Chet looked at him.
"This is the progress and financial reports for the first stage of the Global Garden project; we also received the disbursement for the second stage of the project and it has exceeded our expectations by one billion dollars... The acquisition of Iconic Corporation was also exceptionally successful, we should be able to sign the contract this month."
"Okay."
Taking a look at the documents and making a comparison between their expectations and the project plan, Frederick turned around and picked up a pen.
Chet seemed quite surprised, watching Frederick sign the contract. He seemed quite lifeless. Even though Frederick had been following up on this acquisition project and it was then close to succession, he wasn't showing even the slightest hint of excitement.
"Frederick, are you okay?"
How could he be so depressed? After all, this was an investment of over thirty billion dollars!
"Yeah, I'm fine! You can follow up on the rest!" Taking back the documents, Chet's eyes widened as he thought, "This is weird! So weird! This is totally unlike the usually energetic him!"
Just as he was about to say something, he saw that Frederick's gaze had already turned to another side. Chet was completely speechless. It turned out that Frederick hadn't dealt with the matters about his love life!
He parted his lips a few times but finally, he just silently retreated.
Frederick's gaze seemed to just fall on the spot just below the window but his mind was actually blank, not thinking about anything. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
He only averted his gaze when his phone started ringing.
Danica had messaged him asking him whether he was tired and whether he wanted to go to a vogue party together that night.
Just a few words that showed concern, evidently humble but with no lack of care and adoration.
After chatting for a while, Frederick agreed to the date.
Ending the conversation, he started going through his phone but gradually got frustrated. Alicia really didn't give a d*mn about him! All these days without a single text? Frederick was irritated by the thought of this.
What annoyed him the most was that he couldn't stop thinking about her as if he had been bewitched.
He got angrier the more he checked his phone when a thought suddenly hit him. He checked his social media. Upon checking, Frederick almost flipped the table.
Alicia had updated her feed the past two days. In the first one, she had posted a selfie. She was out on the streets and behind her was an advertisement poster of herself. It displayed her flawless face with her gorgeous eyes winking-her beauty was out of the world. Her hair was pulled to a side and she was wearing those dazzling butterfly earrings, her pouting lips which were a shade of red looking very seductive.
Her caption read, "Magic Maquillage's Velvet Rose Series: Beautiful red lips are your weapon to seduction! For a moisturizing and long- lasting beauty, come find me if you are interested, it's just 399 dollars with postage!" The text was followed by a narcissistic emoji.
The second post was from the day before, which was a picture of a gourmet dinner. "Food is the best medicine! I shall enjoy this first and think about losing weight later!" The text ended with a large smiley face and a cute crying emoji.
Looking at the posts, Frederick could almost imagine how happy she was when she was updating her status!
What a heartless woman!
