Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia)

Chapter 189

Alicia cast her gaze down and took the food because she was hungry. She also did not want anything to happen to her health. Her ego would not be hurt over breakfast worth a few dollars.

"Thank you!"

This time, she opened the sandwich first and took a big bite. She held it and ate it with relish.

As he looked at her, Jeremy felt bitterness surging up his heart.

In the past, she would only eat the eggs in the sandwich and take a few tiny bites of the rest. She had said that there were too many calories and that she was afraid of gaining weight. It was enough to taste it once and she would be adequately satisfied. She wanted to stay pretty to have his eyes on her forever.

But currently, she held the food preciously and ate like a child who had tasted a hamburger for the first time. It looked like she would even pick up and eat the scraps that fell.

The feeling pained him.

She drank the milk like how she had used to. She was familiar yet foreign to him.

Finishing the food, the corners of her lips lifted in content. She grabbed her purse and observed the dollar bills inside before checking the time on her phone.

"I think I'm fine now, when can I take the shot? I want to be discharged as soon as possible!"

She still had a lot of unfinished business!

With every look at her, he felt as if his heart was cut open with a knife. "Just a while more and the doctor will come to check on you! Don't you want to rest for a couple more days? Your leg—"

"There's no need! I'm alright, it's just a scratch!"

A wound like this meant nothing to Alicia. In the three years, though uncommon, she had been met with these situations several times. She would have been hurt many times by now had she not been so hard on herself.

To her, any wounds and bleeding were better than r*pe! NôvelDrama.Org content rights.

If she had not gone through that much, how would she be so cautious and strong at present? There was a price to pay for one to grow! This was the lesson she had learned over the years.

The only time she could not have avoided was with Frederick!

Until present, she could not figure out how she had reached his room that day. Nevertheless, it was not the worse thing that could have happened to her.

As if she recalled something, she glanced at Jeremy. "Thank you for helping me last night!"

This was probably the only time they had spoken to each other on peaceful terms since the wedding.

Looking at him, Alicia realized that she was calm even as she faced her old lover. He was like a stranger. Be it love or hate, she had no feelings towards him, their relationship hollow.

They stared at each other without talking. Contrary to her, Jeremy was entirely different. The feelings he had suppressed for three whole years came to the surface when she fell into his arms the night before. It was then that he had realized, he was so scared of losing her!

He loved her! He loved her to his bones!

There was never a moment like this instant that he was so sure of his feelings.

He clenched his hands and released his fingers slowly. He took a long look at her. "Ally—"

The ward door flew open at this moment. "Excuse me, it's time for the routine check-up!"

Jeremy stepped aside and let the doctor in. The nurse followed after, pushing a medication cart.

"Doctor, am I okay now? Can I be discharged?"

Alicia spoke urgently. To her, hospitals were terrible. She loathed staying for even a minute more.

After examining, the doctor took a look at the records.

"You can leave after getting a shot! Remember to keep hydrated these few days! Take care of the wound on your thigh. Don't let it come in contact with water in case it gets infected."

"Okay, thank you, Doctor!"

She reached her hand out for the shot, not even scared. Despite this, the nurse could not find the blood vessel even after some time. She made the injection at the wrong spot and Alicia let out a cry of pain uncontrollably.

"Ouch!"

Almost immediately, Jeremy shouted angrily, "What are you doing?"

'Tm sorry, Miss, I'm really sorry." The nurse was clearly inexperienced. She paled instantly and was on the verge of tears.

Alicia, on the other hand, was understanding. "It's okay, I'm fine! Just be careful next time."

Seeing this, the doctor gave a look to the nurse. After he filled up Alicia's details in the record, he took the needle over and the shot was done in a jiffy.

Their thoughts being interrupted, the two did not converse for the rest of the time...

On the other hand, Frederick went for a three-mile jog after he had woken up in the morning. He went for a shower after he returned but the time had not even reached seven o'clock when he was done. Irritation crept upon him.

Ruffling his hair, he felt extremely uncomfortable as if there were fleas all over his body.

Ever since he left the house after their quarrel, he was on the edge of losing his temper every day. Everything seemed wrong to him. In the kitchen, he flung the spoon while making coffee.

"What the h*ll is with this spoon? It's scorching!"

"I want to go back! I still want to go back!" he thought.

He felt as if he was sick. Every time he took a rest, his mind would be filled with the same thought. He stood up with a glum expression, took out a cigarette and lit it.

Standing by the window, thoughts were running and jumping around in his mind, giving him no peace. Would she happy that he had not gone back? Was she happy that she had the house all to herself?

That was his home, he could go back whenever he wished. What was there to be troubled about?

He put out the cigarette and grabbed his car keys. The moment he had decided to head outside, he felt his footsteps going light and at ease.

He drove all the way to Landrum Garden and he suddenly grew uneasy at the thought of returning home. He drove around the streets slowly without pulling over, an inexplicable hesitation in his heart.

"Should I go in? Would I seem weird?"

Lost in his thoughts, he looked up to see a blue Ferrari pull up not far from the door. Instinctively, he slowed down.

Soon, two familiar figures came into his view.

"Alicia and Jeremy?"

He could not believe his eyes and slowed his car down even more.

At the door, Alicia returned the jacket to Jeremy. She had a slight smile. "Thanks for sending me back!"

"This is where you live?"

The villa was not grand but it had a unique design and certainly looked expensive. His brows knitted together as he asked.

Clear with what he meant, the corner of Alicia's mouth tugged in self-mockery. "I'm just living here for the time being!"

The villa did not belong to her and she was not even considered a tenant. She could be kicked out anytime.

There was no argument nor explanation but a hint of her pain still showed through. Many things had happened to her the night before, = and she did not want to spoil the calmness.

"I'm a little tired and I need to rest! If there's anything, let's talk about it next time, okay?"
