Chapter 749
Victoria was filled with excitement. Her mind was full of the thought of their dinner date, and she didn't think about anything else. She gave the chef some menus and ordered the chef to prepare three dishes and a soup. The final dish would be the pepper meat wraps which she would prepare personally!
After everything was ready, she even set the table cloth and flowers on the dining table. Even though the dishes she prepared were Chinese food, she still picked an exquisite bottle of red wine to go with it. After having everything prepared, only then she went back to her room.
On the other side, Trevor got off the plane and turned on his cell phone. Before he even walked out of the airport, his cell phone rang, and it was a call from the servant who was taking care of Selena.
"Master Trevor, something is wrong. Miss Selena has passed out. She is in critical condition and was sent to the emergency room!" the servant said anxiously.
Hurriedly, he passed a few messages to Holger whilst on the call, and Trevor bought the earliest ticket to South Korea.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
Due to the sudden news and the little time he had, both of them needed to request for assistance from a few airline personnels before they finally boarded the plane. When the plane finally took off, only did Trevor suddenly realize that he forgot to call and inform Victoria about it.
However, he couldn't do much being stuck on the plane.
It was a long journey, and he was extremely anxious. In addition, it had been a long day and he was exhausted, so he took a nap. When he opened his eyes again, he was awakened by the pilot's announcement indicating that they had arrived at the destination.
Upon arrival, it was another round of madness. He initially planned to place a call back home upon getting off the plane!
However, a call came in first once he turned on his cell phone after settling the relevant procedures and stepped out of the airport. It was a work call, and then followed by a call from the servant, informing him that something had happened in the hospital again.
The incoming calls on Trevor's cell phone did not stop as he rushed to the hospital. He was occupied with making all sorts of arrangements and had totally forgotten that he needed to inform Victoria about it.
When Trevor arrived at the hospital in a hurry, it was chaotic in front of the operating theatre.
"What's going on?" he asked.
"Master Trevor! I don't know what's going on! Miss Selena was doing just fine. She didn't even go out, and it wasn't sunny today. She merely had a cup of coffee. All of sudden, she had a severe seizure and lost consciousness before she could say anything. We immediately sent her to the hospital! The doctor was still trying to rescue her, and he mentioned something like there are too much toxins in her blood. He said that she needed a transfusion to clear her blood. Miss Selena's body cannot be exposed to extreme brightness, and she needed more blood. Hence, the surgery is complicated, and the doctors are still figuring out how to save her!"
As she said it, the servant nervously wiped the sweat on her head.
"We've just switched to another operating theatre. Let's go inside..."
The sky gradually became darker. Meanwhile, Victoria was in the room and had changed into a beautiful dress. The rosy red top and her midlength black skirt were not too formal or casual. She could even roll up her sleeves, and it was very convenient for her to cook.
She had a quick look at herself in front of the mirror. She rarely used lipstick, but she did so even though it was already night time, wanting to make herself look more lively.
Looking at the time, it was almost seven o'clock. She estimated that Trevor should be arriving soon and went down to the kitchen.
She wanted to give him a call to ask him when he would arrive, however, upon picking up her phone, Victoria placed it back. Then, she turned over and went to the dog kennel outside.
"Forget about it, it won't be too long. I'll just make it when you're back!" Victoria murmured.
As she had already changed into a new attire, she just stood outside of the cage and looked at Shirley, but didn't go in. She was speaking on her own to Shirley,
"It's my birthday today and I'm sure that you've had extra food portions too! So, you have to wish me Happy Birthday..."
While she was murmuring to Shirley, Victoria's cell phone rang. It was a birthday message from her friend. While she replied, Victoria continued chatting for a short while.
Before she realized, it was already past eight o'clock.
"Huh, is it already so late? Why hasn't Trevor come home?" Did something happen? Victoria wondered anxiously.
She picked up her cell phone and dialled his number. She was greeted by the machine voice recording from the other end. "The number you have dialled is currently unreachable. Please try again later. Sorry..."
Was his phone turned off? How could it be turned off? Victoria wondered.
Looking at the cell phone, Victoria attempted to call again. Her heart sank and her sight fell upon the snow mastiff which was laying on the floor silently. She suddenly felt a bad omen!
She was afraid that her birthday would be ruined!
A thought suddenly came into her mind, and it was so clear that it was hard to ignore her hunch!
Holding the cell phone, Victoria's heart was filled with unsettling thoughts.
For the first time ever, she did not say "goodbye" to Shirley and just walked back in with a disappointed look on her face.
In front of the small dining table, Victoria sat down and looked at the flowers and wine glasses on the table. However, the happiness that she was feeling was fading.
Her cell phone rang again. She opened it anxiously, but her eyes were filled with disappointment.
It turned out to be a promotional text messsage!
Looking through her call records, she felt increasingly dejected.
On that day, she had received phone calls and text messages from her friends and family. She even received a gift card from one of her clients which she had only met once. She suddenly realized that out of all the wishes she received, only Trevor's wish was missing!
Victoria sat there in a daze, and she felt heartbroken.
She had been staring at the cell phone and her fingers was constantly hovering over Trevor's number, but she did not proceed to hit the call button. She shifted her gaze to the clock and sat there, staring blankly at the time as hours went by.
When it was close to nine o'clock, the chef came in and said, "Madam Victoria, when are you going to have the meal? How about I cook for you first?" It was time to get off work, but the whole kitchen staff was still waiting forthem!
When she suddenly came to her senses, Victoria said, "You don't have to do it anymore. Just make me a bowl of noodle soup! After that, you all can have a rest!" Victoria replied.
It was already late but he was not home yet, and he didn't even bother to inform her about it. Something urgent must have happened!
Making a quick guess, Victoria hoped that it was business-related, but for some reason, her intuition told her that it was a personal matter. It must have been related to that woman!
If it was for business, how could he not tell her about it and even turned off his phone? Even if it was inconvenient, if anything happened to him or if he was busy, he would definitely have asked his assistant to inform her on his behalf! Victoria thought to herself.
Since he failed to inform her, it must be something personal which he wasn't comfortable keeping her informed about. Or else, it must be something that would bother her... something personal! Victoria continued wondering.
Hence, no matter how suspicious or curious she was, she still didn't make the phone call to find out about it.
"All right!" the chef replied.
After the chef left, Victoria got up and went to prepare the pepper meat wraps that she had gotten ready the ingredients for. Just as she was serving it, the chef served the noodles. She sat down and poured herself a glass of red wine.
After busy preparing for the whole day, she was starving. Even if the food was tasteless, she gulped it down. While eating the green pepper, she raised her glass of red wine and said to herself,
"Victoria, happy birthday! You have to be happy..."
Then she raised her glass and downed the red wine. When she was about to pick up her cutleries, a familiar ringtone broke the silence. She paused for a short while before proceeded to hit the answer button.
"Mr. Jordyn..." She answered.
"Vicki, happy birthday! I've sent you a birthday present, but there are some problems with the delivery. It was stuck at the customs, and it will only be able to arrive tomorrow!" Jordyn told her.
He initially intended to use the gift to convey his wishes to her, but unexpectedly, he still needed to make the phone call.
"Thank you... you've spent so much money on me!" Victoria said thankfully.
As she spoke, Victoria felt upset, so she unconsciously chatted with him for a while more.
At that very moment, Trevor had just
settled everything, and he realized
his cell phone was out of battery. After going through some hassle he managed to borrow the servant's phone to give Victoria a call, but her line was still busy after a few attempts...
