Chapter 766
That was why it was better to be a woman! If she wanted to cry, she could cry. If she had to bow down to someone, she would. She didn't have to overthink about it. She could do whatever she wanted. It wasn't like she had anything to lose.
As they talked, that odd thought flashed through Waverly's mind.
Wyatt raised his brows slightly. He couldn't help but look at her with contempt. "Is that what he told you?"
"That's right..."
She nodded seriously and then felt that it didn't sound right. She explained further.
"Franklin is a very good person. He's diligent and knowledgeable. He's also pragmatic... If it weren't for this incident, I think the both of you might have become friends! Birds of a feather flock together, don't they?"
It was just that Franklin's luck was poor, and he didn't have much time to fulfil his ambition. He had to bear the heavy burden himself. After the incident, he did look rather pathetic.
Technology was the core of a company. Since he'd stolen it from someone else, it was indeed...
"Haha..."
Wyatt snorted. He didn't agree with her at all.
Was that kind of man worthy of being compared to him? Franklin had copied his company's designs for the sake of money. Knowing that it was a bad decision, he had taken shortcuts and various risks for the sake of success. It was a bold move. Wyatt could give him some points for that, but Franklin's actions that night had disgusted him!
If only he had an ounce of responsibility and acted like a proper man. How could he do such a thing?
Wyatt had much more admiration for the woman in front of him than Franklin.
Meanwhile, Waverly was still praising Franklin and pleading for him."Mr. Johnson, can you just give us some time?"
The more earnest Waverly was, the more unhappy Wyatt felt. "You came to a man's room in the middle of the night. How could he still be in the mood to 'work overtime'?"
Even an idiot would be able to tell that Wyatt was mocking her. Waverly bit her lower lip and said softly, "He doesn't know that I came to look for you..."
Her long eyelashes fluttered, and she suddenly looked up. "Can you keep this a secret? Whatever your decision is, don't tell him... okay?"
She clasped her hands together unconsciously and looked at Wyatt pitifully.
Her thoughts were written all over her face. Seeing her hopeful eyes, Wyatt frowned slightly and his eyes narrowed.
Did he not know? Was that possible? If Franklin was supposedly working overtime, how could he go to a party so brazenly? Wasn't he afraid that she'd visit him or check up on him?
"Oh?"
He answered her playfully as his lips curled into a smile. "Then, what did you tell him?"
"I told him that I'm hanging out with my friends. I'll be singing late into the night, so I told him not to disturb me!" Waverly said truthfully, completely unaware that she was being so honest with him.
"Singing? At the karaoke, or a nightclub?" Wyatt strolled forward and his sharp gaze drew closer. "Who would've known? Do you often go to places like this?"
She was clearly a good girl. She looked extremely innocent. The only possibility was that she came from a good family background, or at least, it was good enough that she didn't need to worry about something to eat or wear. She was probably well protected and had not been exposed to society's
dark side.
She hadn't noticed that he was trying to trick her. She waved her hands frantically and said, "No, no! I don't like those kinds of places. It's so chaotic! I have only been singing once..."
As she finished, Waverly put her hands down and was dazed for a second. "Why am I telling you this?"
She scratched her head. She almost thought she was being possessed. Didn't she come to beg him for help? Why was she talking about her personal affairs?
Listening to her talking, Wyatt was sure that Franklin knew that she was lying. He might even know that she had come to beg him for help. If not, he had to at least know that she'd been there before. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
He must have agreed with what she was doing deep down.
She was dumb, and had no idea that he was using her!
After thinking for a moment, Wyatt asked again. "How many years have the two of you been in a relationship?"
"What?"
She looked up. That time, Waverly pursed her lips. It was obvious that she didn't want to answer. Why did he keep asking personal questions? What kind of weirdo was he?
"If I don't know how your relationship is, how would I know if you're telling the truth?"
Did that mean that he would consider it?
Her eyes lit up and Waverly felt a surge of excitement. A faint smile appeared on her lips. "Two years! He treats me very well and often dotes on me. He agrees to whatever I say! Also, we're about to get engaged..."
As long as Wyatt was willing to give Franklin a chance, Franklin surely wouldn't object to it. He was in a mess then, and it was time and buffering that he needed the most!
Waverly was obviously excited. However, she didn't know that Wyatt was just stringing her along. There wasn't a need for him to say anything, and she had already blurted everything out.
If they'd been together for two years, then they had to be spending a lot of time together. Unlike him who was a stranger to Waverly, Franklin would know her like the back of his hand. Wyatt was instantly sure of his assumption.
She was a very genuine person! It was just that... she was a little naive!
Her long eyelashes were fluttering, and her mouth was slightly open. Her expectant expression was written across her face. She was like an open book.
Wyatt slowly walked towards her, smiling playfully. When he came to her side, he circled around her and gazed intently at her.
She stood there in a daze, not knowing what was going on. She even turned around with him as he did. When she suddenly met his fiery gaze, a strange feeling arose. She stepped backwards with her hands covering her chest.
What was the meaning of that? Was he thinking about...
They looked at each other, but Wyatt didn't say anything. Instead, he stepped closer and closer to her. Waverly started to panic and instinctively tried to dodge him. She didn't realize that she was going deeper into his room.
She felt a chill on her back and
suddenly came to her senses. She realized that she had been forced against the corner of the closet. Just as she wanted to wriggle her way out, she realized that she was stuck in between the wall and the closet, and he was right in front of her. She was completely cornered.
She turned around on the same spot uncomfortably. She looked like a frightened animal and she was almost pressed against the wall. "What are you trying to do?"
She wasn't serious about it when she said that she wanted a kid with him!
Unconsciously, she kept shaking her head anxiously.
Wyatt seemed to have read her thoughts. He suddenly took another step forward and pushed her into the narrow space in front of them.
"You're here to see me, aren't you? We have a girl, coming to look for a man in his room in the middle of the night..."
He paused right there. Wyatt even tried to scare her by breathing into her ear. Immediately after, Waverly almost jumped out of her skin. She screamed as she pushed him away.
"That's not what I meant! This isn't...
that! Don't get me wrong. I don't want to have a baby with you! I went
to your company to wait for you, but I didn't see you. I had no choice. If I don't come now, what else could I have done?"
