Chapter 134
Chapter 134
Luca’s POV
I spotted James after some minutes of me waiting downstairs and he jogged up towards me, as soon
as his eyes landed on me.
“Hey, you hungry?” He asked as soon as he stopped beside me and I rolled my eyes a little.
“Of course I am, why else would I have invited you to come eat with me if I wasn’t hungry.” I said to him
as we fell into step beside each other as we started to make our way out of the company’s premises,
and down the road.
“You sure it’s safe to go there without any body guards?” James suddenly spoke up and I glanced at
him from the corner of my eyes before nodding my head at him.
“Of course, it’s just down the road, is it not? Also, if anything comes up, I don’t think it would be too big
for the two of us to handle ourselves.” I said to him with a small shrug of my shoulders.
“You’re right, if anything’s going to happen now, it really can’t be that bad, I guess I was just being
worried.” James replied and I started to tease him about how he was being such a big wreck of
emotions for being worried about something like that, and he shoved me at my shoulder as he made
his way into the restaurant before me.
I shook my head a little with a small smile tugging them sides of my lips as I made my way into the
restaurant after him.
We placed our orders and were sitting down together at a particular table which was hidden from the
open of the restaurant, and James had gotten on his phone almost immediately after we’ve both sat
down, while I glanced around the whole room, enduring that we were kind of safe at the moment, and
didn’t just walk into something akin to a trap.
“Luca?” James' voice called out and I dragged my eyes away from the expanse of the restaurant to
stare at him questioningly.
“You do know we have a meeting with the mafia heads, right? It was supposed to be held yesterday
which was a Sunday, but I pushed it forward, and now they’re requesting for the meeting to be held
today, on a fucking Monday.”
“You know what? Why can’t we just move it to a freaking Sunday, like it was supposed to be held on, I
cannot hold any meeting with them today, or any other day throughout the whole week.” I said to
James with a eye roll, before offering my card to a waiter who had just arrived at our table with our
requested drinks, and two glasses.
“I don’t know man, it seems like there’s something important which they’d like to discuss with you, their
personal assistants are here talking with me and they’re all saying their bosses are not agreeing to wait
until next Sunday.” James replied after a few minutes and I let out a groan along with a small puff of
breath. I opened the cold bottle of wine and filled up both glasses before picking mine up and gulping
the whole thing down almost immediately.
“I think you should ignore them for now, if they keep pestering you,” I said to James after a few
moments and I watched as he looked up at me from his phone. He dropped his phone down on the
table in the next second and picked up his glass of wine, drinking from it as well.
“I am the mafia lord after all, and whatever I say is final. You can talk to them tonight and tell them that I
have decided to not agree to any other kind of meeting with them, until Sunday, due to some personal
issues and that I hope they respect that.” I started to say to James while refilling my empty wine glass.
“This is true, I’m going to deliver this to them later today in a really formal message.” James mused
after a few moment and I snorted a little as I lifted my wine glass and pressed the edge against the
lower part of my lips.
******
I'll see you tomorrow, be sure to arrive on time.” I said to James as I pushed my hands into my pockets,
I was currently standing beside James, and the clouds were dark already. After having lunch together,
we left the restaurant and headed back to the company to get back to our various jobs, and didn’t get to
see each other again until this very moment, now that we were both done for the day and were about to
head home.
My driver was already waiting for me as soon as I had made my way out of the company, and James
had left the company a few minutes after I did, and I was currently speaking to him before we’d both
head home for the night.
“Shouldn’t I be the one saying that to you? You’ve forgotten how I mostly get here to work before you.”
James replied with narrowed eyes and I rolled my eyes at him in reply.
“I’ll get here really early, might even be here before you.” I said to him and watched as he let out a quiet
snort, and a grin crossed his face on noticing the scowl I was pointing at him at the moment.
“I’d be heading home right now though, you be safe.” I said to him as I turned away from him and
started to make my way towards my car.
“You too.” He called on behind me just as I was sliding into the back of my car, through the opened
door.
The car started driving in the direction for home almost immediately I had sank into the back seat and I
glanced through my phone for the time, it was currently some minutes after nine p.m in the night, when
I say that was the earliest I was going to be arriving at home, ever since I had gotten married– apart
from the day that I had been sick.
I knew that a part of me just wanted to see Sofia befute she’d have fallen asleep, I knew that and at this
point, I didn’t think it was of any use for me to still try to deny it.
Yes, I wanted to see her tonight and be able to speak to her and just stare at her beautiful face.
And lord, she really was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, and my heart squeezed at that
thought, in a not so bad way.
The car suddenly pulled to a stop so fast that I lurched forward before I could even blink, I’d have hit
my nose and face on the seat before me, which would lead to me sustaining a seriously broken nose,
or some other kind of injury.
“The fuc-” I started to demand the moment I had sat back up, but the words died in my throat as soon Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
as I noticed what was happening around the car, and why the car had suddenly pulled to a stop without
any kind of warning.
We were currently being ambushed, and I watched from the front of the car as some guys poured out
of a car which was packed a few feet from ours. They had been able to stop our car with the help of
their car which had suddenly pulled up before ours, and we’d have droven into it if our car hadn’t
quickly pressed on the brake.
Just, who the fuck were there people and just what do they think they’re doing? I questioned myself as
I picked up my phone and started to send a message to the second car of guards which literally follows
me everywhere, in case of something like this happening.
And they were needed right now.
“The doors are locked, aren’t they?” I asked the driver and one bodyguard who were currently in the
car with me, while staring out the front of the car, to see as more men poured out of another car that
had suddenly pulled up beside the first car, from the other side of the road.
This road wasn’t as busy as the main express road, so of course they had choose to end up carrying
this kind of stupid and dumb thing out, right here where it barely gets crowded.
Ohhh, they were going to regret it.
Whoever it was that brought up this particular idea, along with the person who had been the head
planner or this, coupled with their boss, were all going to be in big trouble.
