Chapter 138
Chapter 138
Luca’s POV
I arrived at the office and alighted the car as soon as the door got pulled open, and I started to make
my way towards the office as soon as possible, a quick glance at my wrist watch showed that the time
was some minutes past eight p.m in the morning, and I knew even without getting up to my office yet,
that James had already gotten to the office before me, like he had said he was going to do yesterday.
It wasn’t like I had planned to arrive here at the office late, it was only because of the whole thing with
Sofia that had made me use more than my usual time in bed, coupled with the fact that I had to take a
new car here to the office this morning, seeing as my car which I usually take along with me to almost
everywhere I go, got really shot at, last night on my way home.
I alighted the elevator car and started to make my way towards my office, letting myself into it and as
usual, nodding my head at my secretaries who were already there at the office, before making my way
directly into mine and shutting the door behind me.
I placed my phone on the desk along with one of my guns which was poking the side of my thighs way
too much for me to be able to handle anymore. The sound of my door getting pushed open without any
knock echoed around the office and I didn’t even bother to glance behind me to check who it was,
because I was already sure that it was James. He was the only person who could come into my office
unannounced, without bothering to knock, and also the only person who didn’t need to wait for my
permission before making my way into the office.
I mean, he even comes into my office without me being here, since he was literally my right hand man
when it comes to the mafia, and my assistant CEO when it comes to anything about the company here.
“You’re late, just as I knew you were going to be.” He said to me as soon as he had made a few steps
into the room and I rolled my eyes a little as I started to insert the gun back into my pants, in a better
spot than it was in before.
“Shut up, James.” I said to him without turning around to stare at him, and I pulled the phone above the
side of my hips, before finally turning around to stare at him.
He snorted a little before walking towards me and pausing a few feet away from where I was currently
standing in.
“Man, we’re running late already.” He started to speak as soon as a moment had passed and I lifted a
part of my shoulder up a little.
“We can just head over there now, we still have some time on our side.” I said to him in reply as I
turned around and picked up my phone from the table and shoved it into my pocket, before starting to
sort out through some files on my desk, looking for the particular file which we were going to need
today, at the place where we were going to, for a meeting. We were going to be heading over there
with one of my secretaries, in order for the secretary to taken down some much needed notes
whenever the meeting was going on.
“Let’s head over there already then, you’ve sorted out the list of things we are supposed to use for the
meeting, right?” I asked him as we started to make our way out of the office, with James tailing my
footsteps.
“Yeah, they’re at my office, we’d stop there and get them on our way down the stairs.” I said to him in
reply as I paused in the middle of my secretaries’ office. The three secretaries all got to their feet after
about a moment and waited for me to say whatever it was that I wanted to say.
“Who has less work to do today?” I asked and all three of them stared at each other before the
youngest and tallest of the three secretaries, who was a boy, raised his hand high into the air in
indication.
“I am.” He replied to me and I nodded my head at me before craning my hand forward in a ‘come here’
motion, and he did as commanded in the next second, coming to stand a few feet away from me.
“You’d accompany me over to somewhere where a meeting is going to take place at, you’re to take
important notes of the meeting, as well as whatever you notice that’s going to stand out in there.” I said
to him and watched as he nodded his head once in reply, and then I continued.
“Take your notepads and a laptop, be downstairs in five.” I continued before continuing to walk towards
the door, making my way out of it, fully aware of James making my way out of the secretaries’ office.
“Let’s go over to your office and get the stuffs, then we'll head over to the place.” I said to him as soon
as he fell into steps beside me, and I watched from the side of the eyes as he nodded his head in reply.
“So, James, something happened along the way, while I was heading home last night. You see…”
******
“That went well,” James said as soon as we made our way out of where the meeting got scheduled.
“Yup, surprisingly, seeing as we did arrive here late.” I said to him in reply while staring at my reflection
on the window of my car, and I moved my fingers through my hair a little, making it puff up together in a
really good way.
“Which was all your fault.” He shot back almost immediately and I rolled my eyes a little, while still
staring at my reflection in the car’s window.
“Yup, it is.” I said to him in reply, agreeing with him immediately as my lips started to move to the right
side of my face, my lips closing around the lower part to suck it into my mouth.
The thought of what had been the reason behind me arriving late at the office this morning popped up
into my head and I felt a small grin appear on my face, my reflection mirroring my facial expression
perfectly, and I stared pointedly at my reflection even more.
The reason for Sofia ending up in my arms wasn’t good and I wished it didn’t have to happen like that,
the way it did, but then the way it had wll ended, with her falling asleep in my arms and me getting to
wake up with her still held in my arms, was a really good feeling on my own part.
I wonder how she is fairing now, at this very moment. Was she sad? Was she scared after
remembering whatever it was that she had dreamed about? Was she sad about not waking up in my
arms, or was she relieved that she didn’t have to come awake with me still in bed, holding her in my
arms, because knowing her, she was going to be really embarrassed about coming awake to herself
still in my arms, so I guess it was somehow like a good thing that I had to get to the office early this
morning, because I literally only had her best interests at heart, and her comfort.
I shook my head a little at my reflection and turned around, then stopped dead in my tracks, the smile
wiping off my face immediately, as soon as my eyes locked with that of James’ who was standing in the
same spot he had been for a few minutes now, his eyes staring pointedly at him.
His eyes narrowed at me almost immediately, as soon as he locked eyes with me and I rolled my eyes
a little at him, trying to play off the fact that he had just caught me smiling at myself in the car’s window
and was going to not let me live it down, because apparent I had just been caught slippin’
“Who got you smiling like that?” He demanded in a teasing voice which made me roll my eyes at him
after a few moments.
“Let me guess, your little wife is named Sofia.” He continued to tease, on seeing that I have yet to give
him a reply.
“Well, yes.” I replied after about a moment, with a small shrug of my shoulders and I watched as he
stared at me confusingly for some moments, seeing as he obviously didn’t expect me to have agreed to
his obvious assumptions as easily as I had, moments ago.
“Did you finally have sex with her last night?” He demanded and I stared at him questioningly for a few
moments, before finally letting out a small scoff and walking forward until I had walked past the spot Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
which he was still standing in.
“None of your business.” I replied to him, wondering why I had even started to talk about my sex life
with Sofia with him in the first place.
Well, I had after all only brought up the topic about it to him in the first place, because I couldn’t find it in
me to touch her, immediately after I had gotten married to her and the whole thing had still kind of
overwhelming, coupled with the fact that she had bursted into tears as soon as I had been about to
touch her, like I was supposed to in the first place.
But then I had only brought it up, because I was still thinking of canceling the whole wedding thing back
then.
Assuming I had known that I was going to end up finding her adorable and cute and oh so freaking
beautiful, I wouldn’t have brought the topic up with him in the first place.
