Betrothed To The Mafia Lord

Chapter 140

Chapter 140

Luca’s POV

“Nothing, never mind about that, just ignore that.” I breathed out with another lift of my shoulders, right

before I turned my head around to stare at James, and I got greeted with a scowl on his face which he

aimed at me.

“What?” I demanded with an eye roll.

“You can’t just leave me hanging, the fuck?” He demanded and I scoffed absent mindedly.

“It’s not important, just let it go.” I said to him with a small chuckle and I watched as he looked me up

and down before also starting to speak. “If it wasn’t, you sure as hell wouldn’t have brought it up.”

“Well, I’m saying it isn’t important anymore, so it’s either you let it go, or you deal with it and try to figure

it out yourself.” I said to him in a calm voice and watched as he stared at me unbelievably for a few

seconds before finally letting out a small sigh.

“You fucker.” He breathed out and I breathed out a short laugh.

“So, you going to tell me what made you arrive late to the office?” I heard James start to ask once

again and I turned my head around to stare at him, and I nodded my head once before starting to

speak.

“Exercise. I was gyming and I got really carried away.” I replied to him, my eyes moving past him to

land on the shapes of my guards and driver who were already making their way over to this particular

place where the cars were parked in.

“Oh.” James echoed out and I nodded my head once, as I pushed away from the car.

I started to pack up the files which I was still reviewing, immediately after I had checked the time on the

wall clock on a part of my office. It was currently some minutes past seven p.m in the evening and this

was like the first time in a really long time that I was going home at such an early time.

And, what was my reason for deciding to go home earlier than normal? Of course it’s none other than

Sofia.

I placed the files at the second table in the office and walked towards the first window in the office

which I had pulled open today, pulling it close before heading towards the shelf of files here in my office

and quickly searching for a particular file plastic cover, I needed to get the files which I was already

done with, into it tonight, to avoid getting everything jumbled up with themselves tomorrow morning. I

spotted the file after a few minutes and I tugged it out, moving towards my table and arranging the

required files into it, and once I was done, I closed the file carefully and made my way back to the shelf,

inserting it in the same spot where I had gotten it from.

I picked up my suit jacket and shrugged into it after a few minutes, buttoning it up and shoving my

phone into my pocket as well.

I had already texted James some minutes ago that I was going to be leaving the office earlier than

usual, he had said he was going to text me tonight, and thst he was going to stay late in the office

before heading home, and that was that.

I made my way out of the office and shut the door firmly behind me, pausing the the same spot which I

had stopped in, this morning, when I had asked one of the secretaries to accompany me to the

meeting, and at the end of the day, we had ended up taking not one bit two of the three secretaries

along with us.

“You can leave now, if you’re done. I’m heading home right now, so everyone of you is free to leave

here early as well.” I said to them after a second and nodded at their head with an exclamation of

appreciation, before finally exiting their office and making my way towards the elevator.

My mind strayed back towards Sofia as the car started to descend the floors, and I moved my weight

from foot to foot as I willed the elevator to move faster than it was moving at the moment.

As usual, I had received my usual daily tab, and it had come from Ryan this time. The tab had been

brief, as well as straight to the point.

Sir,

Mrs Ricci was her normal self today, she finally tried to paint and although she didn’t get what she was

trying to get, she was still quite happy with what she ended up doing because she had fun doing it.

She wasn’t in any kind of pain today, she didn’t show any kind of sign that she was sick or thereabout.

All in all, she was alright today. Although she appeared to be sad sometimes, the whole painting

cheered her up.

Ryan

I could still remember every word that was in the letter because I had reread it twice, and it had

somehow gotten printed on my head, and my heart had started to ache immediately, as soon as I

remembered what had happened to her last night. It was a good thing that I had agreed to allow her to Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

start to paint, because it was obviously like a source of joy to her and I was glad that I was able to give

her that, at least.

I wished I could have magically appeared back at home, after receiving that letter, because no matter

the amount of tabs I get from them, and no matter how detailed it was, I’d still be thirsty to know what

she was doing, be thirsty to know how she looked like throughout the day, be thirsty to know the type of

clothes she had chosen to wear in that particular day, be thirsty to see her smile throughout the day, be

thirsty for the whole damn thing.

Although, the thirst I had felt today had been so much more intense than the regular ones, and it was

because it had said riffs there in the latter, that she was sad at a moment, and I had a feeling it was

because of the freak which she had last night. It had been pretty intense after all, so it was very much

understandable that she thought about it sometimes during the day.

Anyways, since I couldn’t wait to see her any longer, coupled with the fact that I seriously want to get to

see her before she’d end up being asleep, which was another reason why I was going home earlier

than usual today.

The elevator door slid open and I stepped out immediately, making my way out of the office premises

as fast as I could, and I was beside my can in the next second.

The door got pulled open and I made my way into the car almost immediately, and the door got closed

instantly.

We arrived home earlier than usual as well, due to the road not getting too much traffic, compared to

how thick and much the traffic usually was, in the night.

I alighted the car and started to make my way towards the house immediately, a quick glance at my

wrist showed that the time was eight o clock on the dot, meaning that I had not spent up to an hour on

the road, on the way back from the office. There hadn’t been any kind of obstacle on the road on the

way back, like there had been yesterday, which reminded me about the fact that I was yet to do a damn

thing about the guys which we had captured and taken back home with us yesterday.

I had planned to talk to James about it today, but we had ended up not really discussing it, because of

how busy we were, coupled with the fact that we attended over three meetings today, and each

meeting literally got more stressful than the previous ones.

I dug out my phone and started to dial James’ number, I wanted to get this done and over with while I

was still outside here, in order not to start doing this once I get into the house.

He picked up his phone on the second ring and the first thing he said was, “Man, I’m still working here

at the office, unlike some people who had left for home really early, after still arriving late to the office in

the morning.”

I breathed out a light laugh mixed with a scoff, “Shut the hell up, James.” He snickered back in reply

almost immediately, before starting to speak once again.

“Well, can I help you?” He demanded.

“Well, actually no, I just wanted you to know about some stuff. Those guys whom I told you tried to kill

me last night, you do remember those guys, right?” I started to say to him after about a moment.

“Yeah, you told me about them, so did your guys end up killing them completely?” He asked back in

reply and I nodded my head at a couple of guards who were bowing their heads at me in reply, before

turning away from them and starting to reply to James.

“They didn’t, which is why I’m calling you, we have five of the guys over here.”

“Holy shit, that’s so cool, you didn’t tell me about that today.”

“That was obviously because I forgot.” I pointed out.

We discussed for a few more minutes and finally came to an agreement, before finally ending the call.

And then I turned back around, towards the direction of the house, and started to make my way

towards it.
