Betrothed To The Mafia Lord

Chapter 280

Chapter 280

Luca’s POV

James: Why did you ignore what I was trying to say to you?

I typed in a response and sent it after a few moments.

Luca: Maybe because I don’t understand eyes language? I didn’t even know you were trying to tell me

something.

He started to send in a response almost immediately, and a rest came in after a few seconds.

James: Well, I was.

I scoffed a little and was tempted to ignore him and just drop my phone into somewhere, but ignored

that thought and continued to type in a response.

Luca: Well, what did you want to tell me? You still are not saying a thing

James: Relax

James: What I was trying to say to you was that, did you see your brother beside you?

I glanced beside my almost immediately, checking to see if there was something unusual, but finding

nothing – because everything about him still feels unusual to me in a way, starting from how grown up

he looks.

Luca: Yeah, I see him. What’s up with him? C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.

James: You need to speak to him.

I blinked a little as I ghosted my gaze over the text before starting to type in a reply, thumbs tapping

away on the phone really lightly.

Luca: I do? Why?

James: Because he’s currently facing a whole lot of guilt at this very moment.

Luca: Oh… he is?

I glanced at him a little for a fleeting second, watching as he was bent over himself a little, doing some

things on his phone in that moment, right before I averted my gaze from him to focus it back on my

phone, and I realized that James had sent in a response.

James: He’s facing a whole lot of guilt at the moment. Guilt about making you worry unnecessarily, and

he’s sure as hell beating himself up at the moment.

I read all what he had written, slowly seeing the sense that was in all what he had typed. He kind of

have a point, he did look guilty somehow when our eyes had locked.

Luca: Oh…

Luca: I see where you are coming from right now.

James started to type in a response after a few seconds.

James: You’re going to have to start a conversation with him, and talk it all out. I doubt if he’d know

how to start a conversation with you, because he probably feels you’re angry with him at the moment.

Do you get where I’m coming from?

I started to type in a response almost immediately.

Luca: Yeah, I get where you’re coming from. Go on.

James: You can put the partition up. I doubt if he’d feel comfortable talking to you about something as

fragile as emotions with an audience like the driver and myself.

Luca: Alright, I’ll do just that. That’s all, right?

I shot him a side glance after a few seconds to find him hunched forward a little, still doing some sort of

thing on his phone.

James: Yeah, that’s all. Just, make him feel alright, and talk to him.

James: Like, really talk to him. Remember, he might look like such a grown up but he’s still like a kid

and most importantly, he’s your baby brother that you love to death.

I read and reread this last particular text of James over and over, moving a little on my spot of the seat,

and after a few minutes had passed, I turned my phone off and placed it on tne seat beside me, right

before I sat up and let out a small groan. I leaned forward, watching as Armani jerked up at the same

time, staring at me with wide open eyes at first, before he was leaning back into his seat. I shook my

head a little and reached forward before clicking on a button that moved the partition up, clouding us up

here in the hack to ourselves. I watched as Armani turned his head around almost instantly to stare at

him, and even before I could acknowledge the fact that I had seen him stare at me, he was averting his

gaze and focusing it back on his phone.

Like James had said, he might look like such a grown up, but he was still a kid in my eyes, and was still

going to keep being a kid in my eyes– and telling from how skittish he was at the moment, it was only

placing emphasis on the fact that he was still going to be like a kid inside of my mind.

And most importantly, he was still my baby brother. He was still the baby brother of mine whom I had

because of him, fought with my father countless times for. I could remember some times where I’d be

done speaking to father and he’d hit me all because I was vengefully defending or protecting Armani

away from him. I could remember one time that I was eighteen, and fatter had wanted to start his stupid

lectures on my baby brother. I could remember locking him inside of my bedroom and refusing to get

the door open for my father. Father and I had argued so much and I had gotten a few hits in, but I didn’t

give in after everything.

Armani was someone I was ready to give up my life for while I was growing up without a second

thought, he was someone who I loved so much with all my heart.

I could remember when I had recently clocked twenty, and by then, father had succeeded to start to

force Armani to start to take some stupid training that Armani wasn’t ever interested in. I had

threatened to take Armani with me and run away, and father had reduced his whole training routines

which he used on me, because he knew I meant all what I said to him and could do it if I wanted to.

I dragged a deep breath into my lungs and turned around after a few moments, until I was staring at

him. All it took was a few minutes before he glanced up from his prone to stare at me, and once again, I

caught that glimpse of a little bit of guilt inside of his eyes in that same moment.

“Are you alright?” I asked in a low voice after a few moments had oases with the both of us just doing

nothing but staring at each other, and I watched as he started to nod his head and move around a little

on his seat.

“Yeah, I am.” He voiced out, and I watched as he glanced down at his phone before putting his phone

awry inside his suit pocket.

“What happened to your phone? When you went missing and we were searching for you, I tried to

reach you through it but the call didn’t even connect to begin with.”

I watched as he blinked at me confusingly at first, before it seemed like he understood what I meant.

“Oh, that was because that number of mine wasn’t a number that could work here. You know it was a

different country’s number.., as soon as I got here, it would automatically stop working. I got a new

number already but I haven’t gotten the time to set it up yet, because I planned to do just that tonight.”

He paused and I watched as he sucked in a deep breath before slowly pushing it out.

“I’m sorry you were unable to reach me. I couldn’t even get to you because of my lack of a number, and

it never crossed my mind to borrow someone’s cellphone to use in trying to get you you.” He continued

the speak afterwards, voice easing out slowly as he spoke.

“No, no… it’s alright, it’s alright.”

I continued after a few pause. “Also, it’s a good thing you didn’t use someone’s phone to try to get to

me, my phone number is a really private thing and I rarely give it out, for security reasons.”

“Ohh.” He whispered out after a few seconds and I started to nod my head.

“Yeah. I’m just glad you’re alright. I thought something had happened to you.”

I watched as the guilty look crossed his face in the next moment, right before he made to speak.

“Nothing happened to me, I didn’t even hit my leg against a wall. I’m so sorry I made you worry

unnecessarily…” He trailed off after a few seconds and slumped into his seat, a small, dejected sigh

slipping out his slightly parted lips, and after a few long seconds had passed, he started to speak once

again.

“I haven’t even been here for long and I’m already making you worry so much to this extent, I feel so

bad just thinking about it and I’m so sorry you’re going through all these stress because of me once

again like you used to do back then…”
