Chapter 284
Chapter 284
Luca’s POV
“Uh wow, you kept these all these while…” ArmanI started to speak really quietly, shock and awe
tingling the edge of his voice and I allowed my eyes to slide close for a few seconds.
“Yeah, I did.” I whispered in response after a few moments.
“Why? They were not even that good, and I remember father wanting to throw them out one morning
when he caught me drawing instead of working out my aiming skills– but you took them and hid them
somewhere safe, and… and, I kind of forgot about it.” I watched as he lifted one of his hands to graze
the painting of a dog who had a ball inside of his mouth, I could remember him telling me about how he
wanted a dog so bad, but couldn’t get one because father hated dogs so much and felt like it was going
to make Armani get more soft.
“Because it reminded me of you so much, that was why I put them all up. You’ve always wanted to put
them up while you were drawing and painting them, after all.” I said to him and breathed out a small
laugh at the end of the sentence.
“You know, I finally ended up getting a dog.” He informed me after a few moments just as he turned
around to stare at me.
“Oh wow. Really? That’s so cool.” I said to him, and I meant every word. I watched as he nodded his
head, a small smile blooming on his face.
“Yeah, some years ago. His name’s Bruno, and he has a wife and some pups now.” He grinned a little
as soon as he was done with his sentence.
“That’s crazy. So, you have a family of dogs now?” I teased a little and watched as he rolled his eyes a
little before shrugging his shoulders a little.
“Yeah, I guess?”
We talked about some of the other paintings a little and started to make our way to the kitchen together
this time, side by side.
“The house seems new and unfamiliar, I don’t remember most of these areas the way I used to do.”
Armani muttered beneath his breath after a few moments.
“That’s probably because it’s been really long since you stepped foot here, and probably also because
of the amount of renovations the house went through.” I explained to him after a couple of moments
and watched as he nodded his head a little without saying a thing.
We finally arrived at the entrance of the kitchen and I glanced at him to see him staring into the kitchen
intently, through the slightly ajar door, and I breathed out a small chuckle.
“Push the door open and check for yourself if she’s in there.” I said to him after a couple of moments
and watched as he turned his head around to stare at me.
“I’ll do that right, will you be going in with me?” He finally spoke up and I found myself rolling my eyes a
little.
“Of course I will.” I said to him without missing a beat, even though a part of me wanted to do nothing
more than to go search for Sofia at this very moment, because I wanted to do nothing more than to
take her into my arms and hug her tightly while breathing her familiar scent into my lungs… but that
was going to have to wait, because I needed to do this with Armani, and because Armani was still like a
stranger here and would still need me to show him to everywhere.
I stood behind him and watched as he pushed the kitchen door until it got completely open, and the
quiet chatter than had been drifting out of the previously ajar door slowly come to a standstill, and I
watched as both women who were working beside each other slowly turned around to stare at the
doorway, automatically landing their gazes on Armani and I. I heard Armani take in a deep breath
before expelling it on a low sigh, just as Sarah’s face slowly twisted at first, and her eyes were widening
really slowly like everything was all playing out in slow motion.
Sarah slowly dropped what she was holding to grasp her face, just as her mouth fell open. I averted my
gaze as soon as I noticed tears start to slide down her cheeks, and that was when Armani started to
make his way into the kitchen, past the counter to where she was currently standing. Matilda remained
wide eyed throughout the whole thing and I just know that she must have instantly connected the dots
together because she knew about the fact that I had a younger brother, even though she hadn’t started
to work here until I had sent him out of the country.
“Ar- mani…”
I lifted my head up as soon as I heard Sarah’s voice break shakily as she uttered my brother’s name,
just as Armani finally got to where she was currently standing. He reached down and cupped her face
in his hands which I noticed were trembling a little, and before I could blink, he was sweeping her into
his arms and hugging her really tightly while she sobbed and held on to him tight. I could feel the inside
of my chest start to ache in that very moment as I began to avert my gaze for them. Armani had always
shared a really close and emotional bond with Sarah, I wasn’t surprised that it was still very much
intact.
I was very glad for Sarah in his life, at least he was able to know what it feels like to be cared for by a
woman that harbored motherly love in her heart for him. He really was lucky when it comes to that.
I roamed my gaze around the kitchen and locked eyes with Matilda who instantly jolted as if she got
caught doing something bad, and then she turned around to face the stove and started to stir
something inside some pots the next moment.
“You’ve grown so much, you’ve gotten so big and tall…” I heard Sarah start to mutter and Armani’s
slightly deep voice echoed around the kitchen a little as he breathed out a warm laugh in response to
her, and then I slowly blocked them out.
I know I said I was going to stay in here with Armani, but it seems like he was on a firm footing here at
the moment, which probably meant he’d be fine on his own if I sneak out to go search for my little wife.
“What would you like for dinner? I didn’t know you were coming back home today… I didn’t know you’d
ever come back h- home.” Sarah’s voice started to echo softly around this side of the kitchen just as I
turned around on my heels and was about to head for the doorway leading out of the kitchen, but I
paused when her voice broke at the end of her sentence.
“Aw Sarah, don’t start crying again.” Armani whined a little and I knew without a doubt that he was
pulling her into his arms once again at that particular moment.
I was almost jealous of the relationship he had with Sarah, but then I wasn’t in any place to actually be
jealous because I could remember always holding back when it comes to her, while my younger
brother had held barely nothing back.
It’s a good thing I have Sofia now, isn’t it? I can go to her and get all the hugs and comfort I want from
her.
“I’d have prepared your favorite food if I knew you were returning back home today. Is your favorite
food still your favorite? Matilda could whip it up for you really quick…”
“It was supposed to be a surprise, that was why Luca didn’t tell you about it.” I heard Armani start to
speak and I rolled my eyes in the next moment and I began to turn around until I was staring at them
once again, because I knew Sarah was going to want to say something to me.
“Oh Luca, that was very thoughtful of you…” Sarah started to say in a low voice after a couple of This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
moments and I nodded my head a little at her.
“Of course. How are you feeling?” I asked around a small chuckle in return and watched as she
glanced up at Armani at first before returning her gaze back to my face, right before she started to
speak.
“I’m feeling just fine, thank you. How was work today?”
I knew she usually went for checkups today but had purposely refrained from mentioning that at the
moment for Armani’s sake, and I had no problem with that. She could tell him about it whenever she
wanted to.
“It was alright.” I finally responded.
After some time, I left Armani in the kitchen with Sarah and Matilda, in search of Sofia, because I
wanted a long as fuck hug so badly at that moment.
