Betrothed To The Mafia Lord

Chapter 386

Chapter 386

James’ pov

I was currently heading back home from the club. The streets was still filled to the brim and there was

unfortunately some traffic as well, which is quite expected since today is a Saturday.

Unsurprisingly, my head was filled up with so much thoughts of Blair.

In all honesty, I hadn’t wanted to leave her all by herself in my large ass house, but there was nothing I

could do. I couldn’t bring her with me to Sofia’s art exhibition this morning, because she was literally

going through so much at the moment, it was obvious that the last thing she’d want now is to go

somewhere filled with crowds.

When I had woken up this morning, I had first gone to check in on her. After witnessing her sobbing in

the midnight before I had comforted her until she fell asleep.

She had been wide awake when I got there that morning, and the shattered look in her eyes had

literally made my heart crumble in that moment.

It was the exact reason as to why I had arrived late at the art exhibition. Way later than I was supposed

to have arrived.

Luca being the smart ass that he was, instantly knew that something was off. But, I couldn’t tell him

about it yet. There was a lot of things that I don’t know yet, which I’d definitely like to know first before

deciding on telling Luca about it – about Blair.

I tried my best to cheer her up that morning, forced her to have a piece of toast and some tea. The was

she was responding to me throughout, was proof that she was far from being herself in those moments.

On a normal day, she’d have given me a thorough spooning with her tongue should I attempt all what I

had done to her that morning. Majority of what I had done had been done in order to cheer her up, and

to get on her nerves, so she can respond to me in the snappy, annoyed way she usually.

But, that never came along.

There’s no two ways about this thing. There’s definitely more to her than she has usually been letting

on, and I can’t wait to find out everything there is to know about her.

I had made sure she was extremely comfortable before leaving the house that morning – more like Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

early morning if I’m going to be honest with myself.

After Kayla had suggested that we all go for a celebration at a club, I hastily picked up the opportunity

to return back home when it presented itself, since the two women in our midst needed to go change

into club dresses.

It was past seven p.m before I made my way home that evening. The sight that greeted me made me

feel so many emotions at once.

Concern.

Worry.

Protectiveness.

Blair was huddled against one spot of the floor, knees pressing against her chest and eyes staring

straight ahead, obviously lost in thoughts and far from reality. She had jolted on realizing that I was in

the room with her, and then she had hastily pushed up to her feet.

The sight of her in my shirt made me feel more things. Things which were definitely related to

overprotectiveness.

The shirt I had handed to her this morning was a really large one, and even though she wasn’t short –

standing at 5’7 - 5’8, my shirt still managed to drop down to almost her knees.

To be honest, I hadn’t even know she was going to agree to wear it, knowing how feisty she normally

is, and how she had kicked up a fuse before wearing the clothes I had gotten her on going to pick her

up from the hospital – but she hadn’t even objected, she had just whispered a few words of thanks as

she accepted it.

“What’s wrong, Blair?” I had asked as I drew closer to her, but she emotionally drew back into herself

and hastily shook her head as she responded.

“Nothing’s wrong.”

Of course, I hadn’t believed her, but she spoke up once again.

“I’m serious, I promise. Please stay back, don’t come any closer.” She had whispered next.

I had been obviously worried. It was very obvious that she wasn’t fine like she was claiming to.

But, after regarding her for some more time, I ended up deciding against moving closer to her,

respecting her wishes

But I didn’t abandon her. I lingered, forced her into conversations which she was barely responding to,

made sure she had dinner, even though she had no appetite, and I made sure she was very

comfortable before finally leaving for the club that night, where the celebration was going to be held.

I didn't want to leave the club to be honest at first. On a normal day, nothing would have made me have

second thoughts about going to the club, probably because bsck then, there hadn’t been a Blair

around.

I did leave for the club after everything, because I know my absence would make Luca more curious

and suspicious, which I didn’t want to happen yet, because Luca was very brilliant and would figure out

what’s actually going on with me if he puts his mind on it.

At least now I was heading home to her, I couldn’t wait to see her beautiful face tonight.

The street thankfully wasn’t busy and cramped up any longer, and I sped up asap.

What happened next was completely unexpected.

I thought I had imagined the first one, until it happened the second and third time. A quick glance in the

rearview mirror showed that I was currently being tailed.

And being shot at as well.

It was being carried out by some dudes on a motorbike, and it was obvious that they hadn’t come here

to play tonight with how fast they were shooting at different sides of the car at once.

Fucking, fucking fuck.
