Betrothed To The Mafia Lord

Chapter 389

Chapter 389

James’ pov

We didn’t continue to talk after that, and once again, the silence that stretched out between us wasn’t

an awkward or uncomfortable one.

I told her I’d be back soon and went to check my phone which I left on my bed in my haste to go check

in on Blair after I had arrived home and had taken a shower.

There was a few notifications from my private number, some were from Luca, which I opened

immediately.

Luca; Things has somehow gotten even worse between my wife and I.

I checked the time that message had been sent, realizing that it had been sent almost an hour ago. He

must have probably thought I was banging some chick, which is definitely why he had refrained from

calling me after not getting a response to that text, and the other couple of texts he had sent to me.

Luca; I feel like a really bad person. Like a really terrible husband.

Luca; I don’t even know what to do man. I’m going crazy at this point.

I let out an exhale as I read through those texts while slowly shaking my head.

Luca was going through a lot. A whole lot.

All of these wouldn’t have happened if Lola hadn’t emerged out of nowhere all of a sudden. How Luca

had even managed to lose control like that around her was still shocking me to me, seeing how much

he was obsessed with his wife.

Things had been doing nothing but going down and down between them after that.

I felt bad for Sofia, because she doesn’t even know what the entire thing as to why Luca was currently

acting this way around her.

It was plainly obvious as dsy to everyone with an eye, that they weren’t acting around each other they

way they usually do. Tonight at the club made it so damn obvious to anyone who has been around

them before, and has seen how they used to act around each other. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

At the club, Luca wasn’t breathing down her neck like he usually does, he wasn’t having his arms all

around her like he normally does. He eye fucked her but that was whenever she wasn’t looking at him.

They hadn’t gone to dance together like they’d normally do, which was another thing that showed that

they really are not as good as they usually are with each other.

I had picked out the little flash of hurt in her eyes at that moment, which prompted me to engage in a

conversation with her until her friend returned from the dance floor and dragged her all the way to the

dance floor.

I existed the bedroom with my phone in my hand, going through the rest of my notifications as I made

my way back to Blair’s bedroom.

A few messages from the tech team was waiting for ne in the group chat we shared. They informed mr

about how they’ve done as I had asked and had made sure to not leave any traces behind.

I head into the room and carefully pushed the door close. When I glanced up at Blair, she was also

staring at her with wide eyes, it was instantly obvious that she hadn’t dozed off or anything.

She was still looking very much wide awake.

“Sorry I took so long to return, I was taking care of something.” I said to her and watched as she

shrugged.

“It’s okay. You don’t have to return if you’re busy. I’m fine on my own.” She responded but I only rolled

my eyes, because I had already expected that particular response.

“I know, but I want to.” I responded. She pursed her lips and went silent once again.

I carefully sank into the spot beside her once again, letting out a long exhale as I did that.

I scrolled through my phone some more and once I was sure I had checked the most important things

out on my phone, I slipped it onto my pocket and shot Blair a look.

She was staring straight ahead once again.

I let out a small sigh and threw a glance at the wall clock. It was way past two p.m.

I contemplated on what I wanted to say next before finslly breathing out the words.

“You up for a movie?” I asked.

“What?” She asked.

“A movie.” I responded. “You’re obviously not feeling sleepy yet. We can just kill the time by watching a

movie, y’know?” I suggested.

The look on her face was skeptical as she glanced at me almost immediately.

“I don’t really feel like it though, and you probably have a whole lot of things to do right, don’t let me

hold you back from going to do them.” She responded and I rolled my eyes as I pushed myself to my

feet.

I held out a hand to her next.

“Let’s go watch the damn movie.”

Of course she wouldn’t agree easily, and it made me less worried about her, because that was a

normal reaction from her for once.

I reached down and tugged her upwards, ignoring her feeble complaints as I led us to the sitting room.

I put in some random romance and we both side by side while the large television played before us.

The sitting room was dark, save for the lights from the movie right now.

Some minutes into the movie and Blair finally spoke up

“I don’t like romance movies.”

I glanced at her with an arched eyebrow.

“What do you like then?”

“Horror movies.” She responded with a shrug, and if I wasn’t already embarrassingly smitten with her,

I’d have done so right now without second thoughts.

Can she get any more perfect?

“Really? That’s my favorite genre too.” I pointed out as I changed the romance to a horror.

She didn’t respond, but somehow, I noticed that the gap between us on the couch kept getting smaller.

Being the impatient person that I was, I closed the rest of the space between us and tugged her against

my side. She stiffened up against me but relaxed after a few seconds.

Soon, the weight of her head on my shoulder got heavier. When I checked, I discovered that she had

fallen asleep, with one of her hands squeezed tightly around my shirt.
