Chapter 736

Kirk didn’t wait for a reply after sending the message. He simply looked down at Caroline in his

aims.

Her brows were furrowed tightly, which made him wonder what she was dreaming about. “No, it

isn’t me. I didn’t…” she murmured.

This wasn’t the first time Kirk had seen her frown and mutter in her sleep. His heart broke a little This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

every time this happened.

Despite what he felt, he could only hug her tight to give her some warmth. It was a good thing

that Michael had prescribed her some medicine. Otherwise, she would have nightmares every

other day. Now, she didn’t wake up from fright like before.

Soon, she fell into a deep slumber once again. Now that Caroline was sleeping just fine, Kirk could

finally close his eyes and fall asleep himself.

Early the next morning, he saw Eddy’s reply. “The Gruidae. See you at 9:00 pm.”

Eddy had sent the message last night. Kirk narrowed his eyes at the screen and was about to put

his phone down when he noticed Caroline getting up from the bed.

“You’re awake,” he said.

She nodded and got up from the bed with a hand on her forehead. “How did I fall asleep?”

She could vaguely remember that they were discussing something important last night. Soon

after that, she had fallen asleep in a daze.

What had they been talking about? She patted herself on the head but couldn’t find an answer.

“What are you doing?” Kirk stopped her from hitting herself on the head.

“Are you trying to make yourself dumb?”

“No. I was going to tell you something important last night,” she said.

“But I can’t remember what it was. Do you think there’s something wrong with my brain?”

Kirk chuckled. “If there’s something wrong with your brain, other people wouldn’t have brains in

their skulls.”

Caroline nodded, agreeing with him to some extent Realization dawned on her, and she exclaimed, “I get it now! The kings in the past always indulged themselves with beautiful things. I

thought they were exaggerating it.

It seems to me now that it’s very much true.”

She said, “It’s your fault for making me stupid.”

Kirk couldn’t contain his laughter. He ruffled her hair and said, “Yeah, yeah. It’s all my fault!”

As he spoke, he glanced at his phone on the table. “I’m having dinner outside tonight, so you don’t

have to wait for me to come back home.”

“Okay,” said Caroline as she got up from the bed and headed for the bathroom.

“Are you going to have dinner with Sean?”

Kirk stared silently at the back of her figure for a while before answering, “Yes.”

Caroline didn’t doubt him and simply closed the door to the bathroom.

After she shut the door, Kirk stared back down at his phone, his face darkening considerably.

Eddy had arrived at The Gruidae earlier and had been waiting for quite some time already.

The restaurant wasn’t called “The Gruidae” because there were cranes inside. Instead, it was

named so because of the bronze statue of a crane in the center of the restaurant.

The statue had been passed down for generations by a clan of craftsmen since the era of King Altair. Eddy stared at the statue downstairs as he fidgeted with the glass of wine in one hand.

“Is he not here yet?” he asked.

This restaurant was one of the Morrisons‘ many properties. Eddy had purposely asked the staff to close the restaurant so he could meet Kirk here today.

Time passed, and soon, it was 9:15 pm. Eddy narrowed his eyes at the clock on the wall. He had just gotten up from his seat when he heard footsteps coming from outside.

His gaze landed on the entrance of the restaurant. The doors opened, and in walked the person he

was all too familiar with. It was Kirk, his second uncle.

Yet now, Eddy found Kirk intimidating. It was as if Kirk were a stranger to him.
