Bye, My Ex-husband

Chapter 85: What An Idiot

Chapter 85: What An Idiot

Sally sat quietly at her desk to observe the situation.

Much to her surprise, Rayan didn't blame the situation on Janessa.

No one knew exactly what the two discussed inside Linda's office, but judging by the looks on their faces, it didn't seem like Rayan was going to punish Janessa.

As Janessa walked out from behind Rayan, she met Sally's glance.

Sally quickly looked away before she walked out.

There was something skittish about the way she moved.

Sure enough, something was bothering her.

Instead of returning to her desk, Janessa turned around and walked out of the planning department.

She was curious to see if someone used her computer that weekend, so she wanted to see the surveillance video.

On the roof top, Sally quietly shut the door behind her before she called Gracie.

"Something happened in the company today. The plans with the Gu Group were leaked! Linda and Mr.Lu called Janessa to the office."

"And then what?"

Gracie replied indifferently.

She already knew what had happened, but she wasn't interested in hearing a play by play from Sally.

All she was concerned with was the final decision regarding Janessa.

Revealing confidential information was a crucial mistake, so Janessa must have been punished severely.

"It was all very strange.Mr.Lu stormed into our department and asked if Janessa was there already. When he found out she was in Linda's office, he rushed inside.I thought he would scold her, but they walked out of the office peacefully. It was as if she calmed him down.

He left without saying anything else."

Sally always assumed that something was going on between Rayan and Janessa in the office.

Maybe there were even some inappropriate things happening between the two of them.

However, she never voiced out any of these thoughts to Gracie.

"He wasn't upset with her? The company lost a lot of money, and everyone in the business circle is criticizing them. That wasn't enough to get her fired?"

Gracie was so furious that she pushed the nail art printer off the table, which alarmed the manicurist.

The girl only looked at Gracie and didn't dare to speak.

When Gracie looked down at her ruined nails, her mood soured even further.

She pointed at the girl and commanded, "Redo them."

Gracie was one of their main clients, so the girl had to redo her nails even though she was terrified of her.

"Go on."

Gracie put on her earphones back on and continued her conversation with Sally.

"That's all I heard. When Janessa left Linda's office, she gave me this nasty look.Do you think she suspects me? I didn't have anything to do with it!"

Sally shivered when she recalled the look Janessa gave her moments ago.

The company would fire her if they found out that she had something to do with this.

Sally was so terrified that she would confess if someone asked her about it right now.

‘What an idiot!’ Gracie cursed. However, Gracie still needed Sally, so she had no choice but to calm Sally down.

"Don't worry so much! You have nothing to fear. All you need to do is continue doing your work as usual. If you encounter any problems, feel free to call me."

Gracie hung up the phone.

When she noticed that the manicurist was still not finished with her nails, she snapped and said, "You're not done yet? Where's your boss? Bring her to me."

The girl was so frightened that she struggled to find the right words to say.

Gracie was a difficult customer to please.

Afraid that Gracie would lash out, even more, she rushed to find her boss in a hurry.

The boss soon came out and personally finished the manicure for Gracie.

Janessa went to the security department and located the surveillance videos of the twelfth floor recorded from the past few days.

It took her several hours to go through all the footage, but ultimately, she didn't find anything suspicious.

After that, she checked the data from the technical department.

The document was posted online last Sunday.

She checked the video recording from that time a dozen times, but no one appeared on the screen.

There were also no traces of someone tampering with the video footage.

That meant that there was no one in her office at the time.

If that was the case, then who leaked the document on her computer? Her colleagues wouldn't dare to tamper with her computer.

Someone must hire a hacker to log onto her computer remotely.

How would she locate this hacker? If the hacker was skilled enough to evade their technology department, then the hacker must be a professional.

This situation was becoming more complicated for Janessa.

After working on the investigation the entire day, Janessa made barely any progress.

Her spirits were low by the end of the day.

When she returned to the planning department, she found Shelby still inside.

"Why haven't you gone home yet? Did you have to work overtime?"

Janessa asked casually as she took a seat on the sofa and rubbed her aching shoulder.

After hearing her words, Shelby stood up from the chair in a hurry.

She switched the computer interface before she said, "Janessa, you're back! How's the investigation going?"

"I made little progress today. There was nothing in the surveillance tapes.I have no clue who was behind this."

Janessa narrowed her eyes at Shelby's panic face before she turned her gaze to her computer.

"I finished my work already. Are you going home already?" Shelby asked.

After that, she turned off the computer, packed up her belongings, and got ready to leave. Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

"Sure, let's go together."

When they left the company, Janessa invited Shelby to have a midnight snack with her.

Janessa wanted to know Shelby’s thoughts on the matter, but she declined.

"No, thank you.I've been eating too much these past few days.I'm trying to lose some weight, so I'm avoiding midnight snacks,"

Shelby said with a frown as she patted her belly.

"Well, we should have lunch together sometime.Be careful on your way home," Janessa replied.

After she watched Shelby leave, Janessa hailed a taxi home.

On the way home, she reviewed all the materials she managed to gather that day.

Janessa was sure that she was on the right track.

Maybe there was something she missed.

Sure enough, the person behind this was cunning.

How would she ever find the evidence she needed to clear her name? As of now, she had no leads, and she didn't know what steps to take next.

Unfortunately, Janessa didn't know anyone skilled with computers, making it more difficult for her to investigate.

Rayan would refuse to help her if she asked.

What should she do? The taxi took a U-turn because the driver had gone down the wrong road by accident.

When the driver passed by the office a second time, Janessa spotted Shelby standing by the side of the road.

Shelby looked like she was quarreling with someone on the phone.

Shelby never mentioned that she had a boyfriend.

Who could she be talking to? ‘Maybe it's one of her family members, ' Janessa thought to herself.

She quickly dismissed the scene she witnessed.

When Janessa arrived home, she heated the soup she prepared that morning and packed it into a lunchbox before she went out.
