Captive Hearts: The Tycoon's Ugly Bride

Chapter 53 Pouring Wine

Chapter 53 Pouring Wine

Chapter 53 Pouring Wine

"Miss Yonng has been engaged to Henry for so many years but hasn't married into the Herbart family. Is it because she has an unmentionable disease?"

Flora glared at Tammy with a fierce expression.

"What nonsense are you talking about? Henry and Miss Yonng have a sweet relationship and are about to get married."

Not far away, Vivian stood quietly, looking elegant. Tammy narrowed her eyes, secretly speculating. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

Three years ago, Vivian and Henry had their engagement ceremony, but since then, the two families had yet to discuss the wedding.

It was strange. Louis had already gotten married, but Henry showed no intention of getting married.

"Are they about to get married? That would be great. They should hurry up, or I'll be a grandmother soon."

Tammy's words hit a sore spot in Flora's heart.

To be honest, Henry and Vivian were a perfect match in terms of appearance and family status. Flora had long wanted them to get married and have children.

However, Henry kept making excuses, saying there was no rush to get married. He refused to get married no matter how Flora persuaded him.

Flora decided not to stay here to embarrass herself anymore and left with a clenched jaw.

In a secluded corner of the banquet venue, Cathy drank alone with a sullen expression.

She regretted pushing Blanche into the pool. Otherwise, Blanche's real identity as a pretty girl wouldn't have been exposed by her.

It was like shooting herself in the foot and hurting herself badly.

......

"This isn't the way home." Louis drove silently all the way.

Blanche glanced at the route and realized it wasn't the way back home.

Louis raised his hand and looked at his watch.

"It's still early. I need to go somewhere first."

The car stopped in front of a bar and Louis got out.

Blanche also got out of the car and looked up at the flashing bar entrance. She wondered where they were going, but it turned out to be a seedier bar.

She followed Louis to the entrance of a private room. Louis pushed the door open and went in, and Blanche said, "I'll go to the restroom first."

Louis didn't stop her.

After Blanche went to the restroom and returned to the door of the private room, she overheard their conversation.

"Isn't it Old Mrs. Herbart's birthday banquet tonight? Why are you out here playing?" Nicky asked Louis.

"The banquet is over."

"After it's over, instead of going home, you come out to play. Oh, I see. Blanche is too ugly and you can't stand looking at her at home, so you came out to play."

Nicky continued to mock.

"If I'm forced to marry someone like Blanche, an ugly freak, I don't know what I would do. Although ugly girls are pitiful, I just can't face them."

What?

Blanche frowned. An ugly freak like her? Humph, that was a despicable description.

She pushed the door open and walked in. Nicky, who was speaking, hadn't realized that Blanche had entered.

"Louis, don't you have nightmares living with Blanche?"

Seeing Blanche approaching, Daniel started coughing.

"Ahem..."

Daniel had just come from Doris's birthday banquet. The dramatic scene of Blanche transforming from an ugly girl to a beautiful one was already etched in his mind.

Nicky didn't go, so he still didn't know the truth.

"Since you have a cold, why are you out drinking?" Nicky didn't realize what was going on and instead showed concern for Daniel, thinking that Daniel was really coughing.

Daniel was speechless. This idiot was beyond help.

"Mr. Green, did Blanche provoke you? It's not nice to talk behind someone's back, right?"

A clear female voice sounded, and Nicky turned around. Blanche walked over.

Nicky's eyes lit up instinctively. This unfamiliar woman was incredibly beautiful. How come he had never seen her in Cloud City before?

"Who are you and who let you in? I didn't invite you." However, this woman dared to challenge him. In Cloud City, who dared to speak to him like that? Nicky intentionally acted dismissive.

"Honey, why is your friend so silly? Was his head hurt before?"

Blanche walked straight to Louis and tapped her own forehead before bending over and picking up a glass of juice to sit down.

Nicky's eyes widened. This woman, who seemed not to be pushed around, actually called Louis honey and sat next to Louis.

Oh, so Louis really disliked Blanche.

Wait, this woman's voice was so familiar. He must have heard it somewhere before. Looking at Daniel's meaningful gaze, Nicky remembered it in an instant. It was Blanche's voice, wasn't it?

"Are you Blanche?"

Blanche took a sip of the juice and put it down.

"Don't call my name anymore. Just call me an ugly freak, as you wish."

Nicky was dumbfounded. This beautiful woman was really Blanche. Could someone tell him what was going on?

Daniel raised an eyebrow, smiling with an air of mystery.

"Something big happened at the banquet today, and you missed the exciting scene. What a pity."

Nicky scratched the back of his head vigorously and then showed a face of shame.

"Blanche, don't make things difficult for me. I'm sorry. I was just joking. Please don't mind."

"Don't stand in the way and find a place to sit." Louis looked up at Nicky who was standing in the center.

Nicky sat down as instructed, and Blanche glanced around the room. Besides her, there were four men and five women. The women seemed to be the men's companions.

Blanche yawned, crossed her arms in front of her chest, and stared at the screen in front of her. A sappy love song was playing, and she would rather go back to sleep.

At this moment, a charming woman poured a glass of wine and walked affectionately to Louis.

"Mr. Herbart, this is the champagne you like."

Her soft voice gave Blanche goosebumps. Upon closer inspection, she found that the woman had a slim waist and long legs and was quite attractive. Blanche stopped yawning.

Instead of reaching out to take the glass of wine, Louis glanced sideways and looked at Blanche.

Blanche squinted slightly. It was obvious that this woman was interested in Louis.

The others stopped playing around and turned their attention to this dramatic scene.

Blanche put down her hand from her mouth and lowered her gaze. This woman clearly didn't take her seriously. Did the woman think that calling Louis 'honey' was just a formality?

And Louis didn't refuse the woman, which meant that he didn't take Blanche seriously, either.

Seeing that Blanche actually lowered her head and ignored this scene, Louis withdrew his gaze, looked down, and simply accepted the wine.

"Thank you."

The woman immediately smiled knowingly. Blanche sneered. It was obvious that the woman was deliberately embarrassing her.

The atmosphere in the room suddenly changed. Blanche could tell that those people were all looking at her with a judgmental gaze.

Blanche squinted again. Humph, she could salvage the situation herself.

"Pour me a glass too."

Blanche raised her chin, pointing to the champagne in Louis's hand and looking at the woman.

The woman immediately looked angry.

"You have juice, don't you? Besides, you misunderstood. I'm not a waitress here." Suppressing her anger, the woman explained softly.

Blanche could of course tell that the woman wasn't a waitress here, and she rested her cheek on her hand.

"I don't want to drink juice now. I want champagne. You're not a waitress, but can't you pour me a glass of wine? Didn't you just pour a glass of wine for Mr. Herbart? Do you look down on me?" Blanche smiled, her lips curling upwards.

The woman's face froze as she stole a glance at Louis. It seemed that Blanche was not as easy to bully as she had imagined.

She couldn't bear the humiliation to pour wine for the wife of the man she liked.

However, the way Louis looked at her was too indifferent, and he didn't intend to speak for her at all.

She took a deep breath and poured a glass of wine for Blanche, bringing it over. Blanche accepted the glass and smiled brightly.

"Thank you."

After walking back, the seductive woman glanced at the empty seat next to Louis, suppressed her desires, and sat in a corner.

In the short confrontation just now, she realized that she couldn't confront Blanche head-on.

"The wine tastes much better than juice."

Blanche took a gentle sip and savored the aftertaste.

When the light shone, her beautiful face seemed to be in full bloom, particularly charming.

Knowing that she couldn't drink, Blanche only took a sip and then put down her glass.

The woman, on the other hand, decided to leave quietly. If she stayed here, she would only embarrass herself more.

Daniel and Nicky exchanged a glance, admiring Blanche in their hearts. Blanche was quite smart, driving away the woman who wanted to get close to Louis with just a glass of wine.

Louis glanced at the distance between himself and Blanche and realized that since the woman left, Blanche had moved slightly away from him as if she didn't want to sit close to him.

Blanche knew how to take advantage of him.

As his wife, she couldn't endure any grievances, but she didn't show him any kindness.

The female companions brought by others all sat considerately next to their men, peeling grapes and feeding them wine. How understanding they were!

Louis came to the conclusion that Blanche was a different kind of woman.

Feeling bored, Blanche yawned again.

Nicky enthusiastically suggested, "Let's play dice. The losers have to drink."

Everyone nodded in agreement and sat down one by one, except for Blanche who remained uninvolved.

"Blanche, come over quickly. We'll be divided into four teams, and you and Louis will be on the same team. Both members of the losing team have to drink."
