Chapter 1078
After taking a few sips, Zoe immediately knew something was wrong.
With her usual tolerance, there was no way she should feel this dizzy and unsteady. The drink was spiked. Michael had done it.
Realizing this, Zoe moved closer to Leo next to her and asked, "Leo, did you drive here? I'm suddenly feeling unwell. Could you give me a ride?"
Leo quickly exchanged glances with Michael and nodded. "Sure, I haven't had anything to drink," he replied, guiding her out.
While Zoe wasn't looking, he signaled Michael to follow. Michael exited through another door and got into the car ahead of them.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
When Leo opened the car door, Zoe spotted Michael sitting in the front passenger seat. She frowned. "Why is he here?"
"Oh, he's a friend of mine. We came together. Since I'm leaving, I thought I'd bring him along. Don't worry, I'll drop you off first," Leo explained, trying to sound reassuring.
But his words only made Zoe more alert. She pulled away from him, backing up cautiously. These two were in this together. There was no way she was getting into that car.
Zoe quickly scanned the area, looking for help. Sensing her suspicion, Michael barked, "Grab her, idiot!"
Leo lunged at Zoe, grabbing her by the arm. Panicked, she screamed for help, "Help! Somebody, help me!"
Suddenly, a man rushed out from the hotel entrance. It was none other than the figure she had noticed earlier in the corner.
But another man arrived even faster, sprinting over from the convenience store across the street. With just a few swift moves, he took down Leo who was holding Zoe and then shielded her. Michael stepped out of the car, glaring coldly at the man. "You think you can play the hero? Do you even have the strength for that?"
He pulled out a knife, advancing toward them with menacing intent.
Zoe tried to stay calm, her voice trembling. "Michael, you better leave now, or I'll make sure you rot in hell, even if it costs me everything."
She considered name-dropping
Nash, but thought better of it. Using the York name could backfire, just
like it had with Michael. If she

weren't a York, he probably wouldn't have given her a second glance.

Michael sneered, "Oh yeah? I'd love to see how you plan on doing that."
As he stepped closer, the man who had saved Zoe remained calm. "Is this what Birkham has come to? Snatching women in broad daylight? You're Michael, right? The
barely-known model? I've seen your work. Not bad, but it's a shame about the person behind it."
The man remained calm, unfazed as he casually discussed Michael's situation.
"Enough with the nonsense. This has nothing to do with you. Get lost."
Feeling humiliated, Michael's anger flared.
The man chuckled softly, then, in a swift movement, charged forward and took Michael down with a single move. His speed was incredible. Clearly, he was trained. Michael struggled, but the man pinned him underfoot. "Do you want to be handed over to the police, or..."
Before he could finish, there was a loud thud Zoe had fainted, collapsing to the ground. The sound startled them. The man immediately released Michael and hurried over to lift Zoe in his arms.
Just then, a gust of wind rushed from behind. The man, irritated, frowned slightly as he effortlessly dodged Michael's attack. In the same motion, he kicked Michael, sending him flying. "Ah!" Michael let out a scream before losing consciousness.
The man coldly ordered Michael's companion, "Turn yourself in. If you don't, I'll make sure you wish you were never born."
With that, he carried Zoe toward the opposite building.
The man in sunglasses, standing at the entrance, smirked.
A nearby subordinate leaned in and whispered, "Mr. York, should we follow them?"
