Chapter 123
As I rummaged through Aston’s clothes, I couldn’t help but notice the stark contrast between his style and Dax’s. While Dax’s wardrobe was lousy and bold, Aston’s was sleek and refinedThis content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
1 scoured through his shirts, searching for something long and comfortable to wear, but my eyes landed on his collection of white shirts. Ugh, I thought to myself, those were the last things I wanted to wear. The mere sight of them brought back memories of Sophia, and I couldn’t bear the thought of wearing something that reminded me of her.
But, I had to admit, they were perfect for what I needed. Long-sleeved and loose-fitting, they would have been ideal if not for the fact that Sophia had worn one of them. The thought alone made my skin crawl. I didn’t even know which one she had worn, and the mere idea of putting on the same shirt made me want to gag. I could almost smell her perfume on thefn. and it made me feel sick. I remembered the way she used to wear them, the way she would strut around with confidence, and it made me feel even more nauseous..
I couldn’t bring myself to burn them, no matter how much I wanted to. Especially not with Aston only wooden door away. So. I did the next best thing I yanked out my claws and put a hole in the pit of each shirt.
It was a small act of defiance, but it made me feel better. I knew Aston was never going to wear a shirt that had holes so I knew he was going to have to throw them all away and that brought peace to my troubled soul.
With a sense of satisfaction, I pulled out a different shirt a soft, gray one that looked comfortable and cozy. I changed into it, feeling the soft fabric against my skin, and einerged from the closet with a newfound sense of calm. I had taken a small stand, and it had made all the difference. I felt like I had washed away the lingering presence of Sophia, like I had cleansed myself of her influence even though I knew fully well that when this was all over, Aston could bring back Sophia and I would not be able to do anything about it.
As I walked out of the closet,’I caught a glimpse of Aston watching me, a hint of a smile on his face. I wondered what he was thinking, but I didn’t care. I had done what I needed to do, and I felt better for it. I felt like
Words flew out of his mouth and he had me rethinking my decision to come into this room real fast.
As I gazed at the bed, It became three sizes smaller than was before I heard those words from him. I wondered how Aston and I would fit comfortably without making contact, especially with the naughty thoughts swirling in my head. I started to reconsider taking my chances with the thieves outside. But, I didn’t want to leave Aston’s side, so I decided to make the best
of IL
He managed to convince me to stay after a little back and forth and I just lay down and tried to squeeze myself into a corner of the bed. Aston followed suit, his body inches from mine.
As we lay there, I couldn’t help but feel aware of his presence. His warmth, his scent, his gentle breathing. It was all so distracting. I tried to focus on sleep, but my mind kept wandering back to him
“Aston?” I whispered.
“Yes?” he replied, his voice low and husky.
“Are you awake?” I asked, feeling a bit silly.
“Yeah,” he said. “I’m awake.”
We lay there in silence for a moment, the only sound being our gentle breathing.
“Aston?” I whispered again,
“Yes?” he replied
“Thanks for being here with me,” 1 said, feeling a bit vulnerable.

Chapter 123
Aston’s voice was soll and gentle “Sure”
1 smiled, feeling a bit better. Maybe I could get through this night after all
As we lay there in the darkness. I tried to strike up a deep conversation. I wanted to know more about Aston, about what made him tick. I wanted to understand what drove him, what motivated him. I wanted to know what he was passionate about, what he cared about deeply
“Aston?” I whispered, my voice barely audible
“Yes” he replied, his voice low and hucky
“What’s your biggest fear I asked, trying to sound thoughtful wanted to know what kept him up at night, what haunterf his dreams. Was it something specific, or was it a general feeling of uncertainty!
Aston chuckled, his body shaking with laughter. “Kira, just because I let you sleep on the same bed as me after a robbery doesn’t mean that I let my guard down, okay? You’re still just a maid, never forget that.”
1
I felt a pang of shame and disappointment. I had been hoping for a more meaningful conversation. I wanted to connect with him on a deeper level, to understand him better. Really, I was just looking for an excuse for all the bad things he has done. I was trying to understand how he became a villain so I could make him into a hero
“Why not?” I asked, trying to sound curious.
“Because Kira you’re nothing but a maid, don’t make me say it again. Aston said, his voice firm
“Okay” I said trying to keep the pain I was feeling from showing in my voice
I woke up, realizing that Aston had threatened to leave if I said one more word. I had fallen asleep despite my best efforts to stay awake. As I sat up in bed, I noticed that the sun was shining brightly through the window, and Aston’s side of the bed was cold when I put my hand on it. He had been
for a while
I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to wash my face. As I stared at myself in the mirror, I couldn’t help but feel little self-conscious. I had drool on my face! I had fallen asleep like a baby, despite my efforts to stay awake. I washed my face and brushed my hair, trying to make myself look more presentable.
1 headed downstairs to find something to eat because my stomach was rumbling, I hadn’t had anything to eat since breakfast yesterday and even that was ruined
As 1 entered the kitchen, I saw Aston talking to someone. It was a woman with long, curly brown hair and bright green eyes. She was laughing at something Aston said, and I felt a pang of jealousy. Who was this woman, and why was Aston being so friendly with her?
“Hey, Mira.” Aston said, noticing me standing there. “This is Rachel, not that I need to introduce her to you but since you were drilling holes in her body with your eyes, I was forced to
Rachel turned to me and smiled. “Hi, Kira. Nice to meet you
I nodded, feeling a bit awkward. “Nice to meet you too
Aston gestured to the table, where a spread of breakfast food was laid out. “Help yourself,” he said. I hadn’t even noticed there was food on the table
A we ate. Rachel daited about something I couldn’t understand and Aston listened intently I felt like an outsider, watching their rasy banter They talked about mutual friends and shared esperiences, and I realized that they had a history together. After breakfast. Rachel got up to leave and she and Aston exchanged weird glances.
ras gone. I turned to Aston: “Who is she**
ed trying to sound casual.
Aston shrugged. “Just a friend,” he said, his expression neutral.
I raised an eyebrow. “Just a friend?” I repeated. I didn’t believe him but he would blow up if I asked him one more time so I kept quiet.
Dress up, we’re going out” he said to me out of the blue, as we walked up the stairs. I had been lost in thought, trying to understand since when Aston made breakfast for “friends”, and his words caught me off guard.
“Where are we going?” I asked softly, trying not get yelled at.
Aston just smiled and said, “You’ll see. Just dress up, okay?”
I got up and headed to the closet, trying to decide what to wear. Aston had said to dress up, but I had no idea what that meant in his book. Did he want me to wear a fancy gown, or something more casual but still stylish?
As I browsed through the clothes, I couldn’t help but wonder what the hell he was thinking when he got me all these sultry dresses. There was nothing decent. After seventy sighs, a ton of f**k! And a sprinkle of suicidal thoughts, I finally settled on a black dress that hugged my curves in all the right places, and paired it with some heeled ankle boots. I felt glamorous and sophisticated, but still a bit unsure of what to expect.
When I emerged from the closet, Aston looked me up and down and nodded in approval.
“Let’s go,” he said, leading me out of the house and into the unknown.
