Chapter 35 Who Are You
Chapter 35 Who Are You
When Margery finished her words, she wouldn't willing to spend more time with Golden and drove Ethan to the nearest hospital.
She didn't want Ethan to suffer any longer.
"Ethan, take some food to fill your stomach first. When we arrive at the hospital I will find something delicious for you."
Margery found some biscuits from the drawer and handed them to Ethan. Then she called Ms. Hall to tell her the situation when waiting for the green light. After she required a week's vacation for Ethan and got the promise from Ms. Hall that she would try the best to take care of Bonnie, she hung up the phone coldly.
She knew that Ms. Hall was contributed to Ethan's escape.
She also knew that Layne was the son of Golden and Vivian, and the principal and Ms. Hall had to punish Ethan due to their status. She wouldn't reproach them because of this.
But when Ethan ran into the hill and none of the teachers knew about it, she knew this was a sign of incompetence.
If she couldn't find Ethan in time, something more terrible had happened to Ethan. But in the end, Ms. Hall was still requiring her to apologize to Golden and Vivian by herself. That was ridiculous.
She made a mocking laugh and then glanced at her son at the backseat, and said gently, "Hang in there, Ethan. We are almost there."
"Good," the cool kid replied.
…
Margery scooped him up and walked into the orthopedic department of the hospital.
The old doctor on duty was benevolent. He examined Ethan's kneecap and nodded, "What a lucky boy. He only has a dislocated leg. That's not a big deal."
"That's good."
Margery sighed in relief. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Following the doctor's advice, she placed Ethan on a treatment chair and got a basin filled with water. Then she took a piece of tissue, crouched by him, and cleaned his face and neck carefully.
The old doctor was preparing tools to fix Ethan's leg. He smiled at Margery and said, "You can have a little chat with him. To make a distraction, you know."
"Sure."
She was wondering how did his son convince all his classmates to beat Layne. When she asked him, his face was turning red.
It was surprising for her to see her son feel shy. She asked further, "Come on, just tell mummy. If you don't want to tell me, I can turn to ask Bonnie. You know she tells me everything."
Ethan turned his face away and remained silent.
He was so cute that Margery felt her heart melted.
It was the first time that he acted like a lovely child rather than a grown man.
He wouldn't say anything, and Margery wouldn't push him, just cleaning his hands and telling some funny stories about him.
After a while, she felt his body tautened and trembled, and then the doctor said, "It's done. Staying in the hospital for observation for several days and he can be discharged. To be honest, he is the toughest boy I have ever seen."
"Thank you."
Margery was also proud of Ethan. She thanked the old doctor, brought Ethan to the ward with the help of the nurse, and ran to pay the fees and go through the admission procedures.
She was so hurried that she didn't notice that the ward was more comfortable and gorgeous than the normal ward she had reserved.
When she arrived at the booth and handed the medical notes to the nurse, the nurse gave it back to her and said, "The fees for a week's VIP ward have been paid, Ms. Byrne."
Margery was puzzled, "What's going on? I haven't booked a VIP ward, or paid the fees!"
"But that's what the system shows. There won't be any mistake."
"Well…Okay."
Margery put things back into her bag and left in confusion. When she was about to walk into the elevator, she suddenly realized something and turned to look at the gate of the hall.
Then she saw a tall figure walking down the stairs. She could see the back of the man, who had a strong body wrapped up by a tailored black suit, walking away from her.
That was Golden.
It was he who paid all the fees.
She ignored him when heading to the hospital. Once she thought he had left for home and stayed with Layne and Vivian, but the fact was, he followed her to the hospital unnoticeably and did all of that.
Margery sneered. Did he think she would forgive him after he paid some costs for her?
Could money bring back Ethan's childhood or Andrew's life?
Margery's heart softenedfor a minute, but soon returned to be cold.
…
Golden hopped into the car, winded down the window for an inch, and watched her through the slit.
Then he saw her had an epiphany and looked in his direction. It seemed like she knew who did that for her. But there was no joy in her face, but only sorrow and hatred. Her grudges were so strong that he could feel them in the car.
She hated him to the core.
There was only one woman that could hate him so much. That was Margery.
But Margery had already passed away five years ago. And now this lady had the same name as her, but with a different face.
"Who are you, Dr. Byrne?"
He withdrew his gaze, laid down on the seat, and looked at the ceiling of the car. Now his mind was occupied by two emotions, excitement and depression.
He sat on the seat for hours and hours.
Golden, having been expressionless for a long time, suddenly moved.
He took his phone and made a call, "Give me everything about Margery Byrne from Bok Hospital. Everything! Right now!"
