Chapter 61 The Little Girl

Hearing this, Betty was stunned.

Little girl?

Kerwin’s countenance changed when he heard it. He asked urgently, “What did you find?”

“It’s a photo taken around the place where the accident happened. I’ll send it to you.”

“Yes please.”

Hanging up the phone, Kerwin continued to order takeout online. But Betty couldn’t help asking out of curiosity, “What little girl?”

Kerwin turned to Betty.

Usually, Kerwin might get annoyed if other people asked him about his personal affairs.

However, he even got a bit delighted seeing that Betty cared about his life.

It seemed that Betty finally paid attention to Kerwin.

“A little girl saved me years ago when I was kidnapped.” Kerwin had no intention of hiding the truth

from Betty. “I’ve been looking for her for years. I want to thank her.”

Betty was stunned.

Was it the kidnapping that caused Kerwin disabled?

Betty was a little curious. But she knew that the kidnapping to Kerwin was just like the accident to

her two years ago, both nightmares. So she stopped to ask further.

Kerwin placed the order quickly. Half an hour later, the doorbell rang.

Betty opened the door and saw a delivery boy standing nervously outside. “Did you order the

pizza?”

Betty was a little surprised when she saw the pizza box in the boy’s hand.

It turned out that Kerwin ordered pizza online.

“Right,” Betty answered. Apparently, the boy had never delivered the takeout to such a wealthy

suburb, so he was quite nervous. Betty signed quickly. “Thank you.”

Walking into the room with the pizza box in her hand, Betty couldn’t help asking, “Kerwin, do you like eating pizza?”

Seeing the box, Kerwin was a bit surprised, too. “Is it a pizzeria?”

“Yes. Oh, don’t you know it?”

Kerwin frowned, turned his laptop to Betty, and said, “The restaurant is named ‘Italian Mood’. I thought that I ordered some Italian cuisine.”

Betty was speechless.

Betty couldn’t help thinking that Kerwin, a rich man of a rich family, must lack some everyday experience that he didn’t realize the name of the restaurant was partly just for publicity. Their food may have nothing to do with the restaurant name.

“Normally, the Italian food was only enjoyed by people in the restaurant. Most of the takeout was pizza, pizza of Italian favor.” Betty put the pizza on the table. “Have you ever eaten pizza?”

“I used to have had blackened pizza in Europe.” Kerwin lowered his eyes. “I really haven’t eaten

such pizza in a box.”

“Hah… Then have a taste.” Betty gave Kerwin a piece of pizza with a smile.

Taking a bite, Kerwin frowned slightly. “It tastes different from what I used to eat.”

“Ha ha.” Betty got delighted. “It’s good to have a taste of a different flavor.”

As she was speaking, she pulled a big slice and put it into her mouth.

In fact, Betty preferred simple and quick food to delicate dishes prepared by Lillian every day.

She still remembered that when she was in college, she used to eat fast food with Jeffrey. Although it was unhealthy, they like it.

Betty eating pizza with a bright smile on her face, Kerwin was suddenly in a trance.

He found that he didn’t know enough about Betty.

As Betty and Kerwin were eating pizza, Peter arrived.

Seeing the pizza on the table, Peter was in great shock.

Peter knew that Kerwin was particular about food. But he actually saw Kerwin eating pizza now.

Peter tried to make himself look less shocked, handed the envelope to Kerwin, and said deferentially, “Mr. Martin, this is the photo.”

Betty, still holding a pizza in her mouth, thought that maybe she should go into her room not to bother them. However, Martin didn’t mind at all. He directly opened the envelope and took out the

photos inside.

When Kerwin saw the photo, he frowned. “It’s too blurry.”

Obviously, the photo was taken by some tourist casually. In the photo, a girl in a red skirt was under

a willow tree near the lake. Even her face couldn’t be seen clearly. NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Martin. The photo was taken by someone accidentally,” Peter felt sorry. “But the girl matches your description. She should be the one you’ve been looking for.”

Kerwin picked up the photo and sunk into deep thought. Betty couldn’t help but take a closer look.

Although the girl’s face couldn’t be recognized, it could be predicted that she was about 15 years old. The clearest part in the photo was her clothes, a red fluffy skirt, quite special.

Betty suddenly realized something and blurted out, “This skirt…”

Kerwin raised his eyebrows. “Do you know this skirt?”

“It looks familiar.” Betty bit her lip, and an answer suddenly hit her. “Oh, this skirt seems to be worn by a heroine in animation in my junior high school days. Disney released a limited edition at that time. All girls wanted to have such a skirt back then.”

Hearing this, Peter suddenly thought of something. “Right. Mr. Martin, the girl you are looking for seems to be more or less Mrs. Martin’s age.”

Kerwin was kidnapped ten years ago. Betty was exactly 15 years old back then.

“Did you have this skirt, too?” Kerwin suddenly raised his eyebrows.

Betty smiled bitterly. “It was a limited edition. It cost thousands of dollars. How could I afford it?”

Kerwin nodded, put the photo back in the envelope, and said to Peter, “Since it was a limited

edition, then it would be much easier to find out the girl if the skirt was genuine.”

Peter nodded and left immediately.

Kerwin and Betty continued to eat pizza.

Betty didn’t know whether it was her illusion. She found that after Peter left, Kerwin seemed to

have a poorer appetite than before. She cast several glances at Kerwin and caught the fleeting

trance on his face.

Did Kerwin think of the kidnapping years ago?

The details of the kidnapping hadn’t been disclosed by the media because the Martin family did a news blackout. However, it must be a terrible kidnapping that Kerwin’s legs were severely injured.

As Betty was staring at Kerwin’s face in a daze, she was awakened from the deep thought suddenly by Kerwin’s voice.

“Why do you stare at me for such a long time?”

Betty was stunned and then felt embarrassed. She quickly lowered her head, her face red all over. “Sorry.”

Kerwin chuckled and didn’t say anything. Finishing the pizza, Betty went to take a bath.

After the shower, she went out of the bathroom. As she was drying her hair, she noticed that Kerwin was not in the living room anymore. Instead, he was standing on the balcony of the master bedroom. He was in a daze as if deep in thought.
