"Is that a request, princess," I asked.

"No, it's a demand," she whispered, and I saw her eyes quickly flash into the red of her wolf.

"Well, in that case, I have no choice but to obey my mate, my Queen and my goddess," I said as I kissed down to her neck. I looked at my mark still tender on her neck. "I love seeing my mark on this pretty neck of yours. No one will ever think of touching you or looking at you again." I growled as I placed a deep kiss and sucked on her mark. I felt her entire body arch against me. It set my whole body aflame as the sparks that were now twice as strong exploded where our skin touched.

I discarded our clothing quickly, already addicted to those sparks. "You're so beautiful and you're all ours" I said as I let Dario forward to appreciate the beauty of our mate. I noticed one of her eyes turned red and I smiled, "Our mates are so beautiful. I'm going to worship you like you deserve." I said as I grabbed the belt from the floor, "Arms up." I instructed. "Sorry Gonzalo, you know how he is." Elias smiled at me as he handed me a cup of coffee.

"Is he always an early riser?" I grumbled, but smiled when he laughed awkwardly. "Oh I see, you're the early riser, aren't you?"

"Hmm yes, everything rises early for him" Adrien called out happily, making me groan.

"I did not need to know that...like ever." I said as I downed my coffee.

"Where's my tumbler? I thought you weren't mad at me anymore?" Kassie asked.

"You brought me people food?" she said skeptically as she eyed the piece of bread in his hand. Her nose flared as she sniffed it.

"Yep! We're hybrids now. I smelled something heavenly and Celeste let me grab a piece. I've eaten four already! They're great! I had forgotten how good food tastes," Adrien chirped.

Kassie took the piece of bread from his hand and examined it like it was a piece of alien remains. Finally, she tore the tiniest piece of croissant and put it in her mouth tentatively. Everyone watched with extreme curiosity to see what her reaction would be. She put another slightly bigger piece of bread into her mouth and finally made a happy sound and ate the rest of the bread.

"So you can eat food food now? What about blood?" I asked.

Her eyes glazed over slightly and when they cleared she answered, "Mayahuel said we can do either one."

I stood up and went to hug her. "This is great! Mama Isabel is going to get you so fat trying new foods! Wait until you have some tamales! They are my specialty," I laughed as I twirled her around. Then something occurred to me. "What about the sun?" Both she and Adrien froze and started talking to their wolves. "Mayahuel doesn't see why not," Kassie answered and she looked excited. "Lalo, maybe I can see the sunset. Is it up right now? I want to check." "No, it's not up. It's past sunset already. Maybe we can see the sunrise!" They both looked at me.

I shrugged, "I don't see why we can't try it, but the first sign that it's hurting you and the experiment is over. Got it?" They both nodded at me as if they would truly listen to my orders. I shook my head with a laugh as I grabbed a pair of jeans and a shirt and went into the bathroom to change. Kassie followed behind. We went down and I watched as a fascinated Kassie and Adrien devoured a little of everything Celeste had cooked until I made them stop before they made themselves sick. I had to remind them that Celeste could always cook for them when we got home before Elias and I could drag them back into the conference room where everybody was waiting for us.

It took a few hours for us to come up with a viable plan and we still needed to convince the remaining elders to go along with it. Not that we were giving them much choice. Adrien left for a little bit and came back an hour later with a bag for Kassie and me. We needed to be presentable for this but I thought he went a little overboard. He insisted everything, including our clothes, needed to make a statement and I gave up the battle and went to get ready.

I showered and shaved and put on my full black suit and red tie while Kassie and Adrien argued about make-up in the bathroom. Elias had already changed into a formal shirt and pants and so we sat while the other two continued to fight for close to an hour. Gonzalo, are you guys ready? The main hall is already filled. They are getting restless. - Theo mentioned.

Almost. I'll tell them to hurry. - I answered and closed the mind link. I was about to stand up to knock when the noise in the bathroom finally went quiet. I looked at Elias, who was also looking at the door expectantly. I saw the doorknob turn and held my breath. Big mistake as what walked out of that room took my breath away.

Gonzalo POV

She was a goddess in red. My goddess.

She was wearing a blood red off the shoulder dress with a slit almost up to her hip. It accentuated all of her subtle curves and muscles. Her makeup, which was usually nonexistent except for tinted lip gloss, was made up of metallic red and black eyeshadow and blood red lips. Her hair was pulled up into a loose chignon. My eyes darkened when I saw my mark shining proudly on her neck. I wanted her.

Dario puffed up in my head as we noticed her eyes darkening as she took us in too. She wanted us and I would not deny her when this was all over.

"Alright, can you guys stop eye f*****g each other? You have an eternity to do that. Let's get this mess over so we can go home," Adrien interrupted and I almost growled at him but could not get a single sound out as Kassie started walking towards me, her strong toned leg playing peek a boo with me.

She closed my mouth and laughed, "Nat said they are waiting. You ready mate?" I could only nod and offer my arm to her.

Elias and Adrien went in first through the side door. After they linked us that they were in place, I let go of Kassie's hand and stood at her side, slightly behind her. "No. Never behind Gonzalo." She said firmly and pulled me next to her. The doors opened and we walked inside. I was proud of the way Kassie held her head high as we walked through the whispers. She really was born to be a Queen. When we arrived before the table of Elders, we stopped.

"Thank you for coming today, Elders. There are very important things to discuss today." She began.

"Where is the council, and the King?" One of the elders asked.

"They are dead, along with my sister and a few of Guardian Moon's pack members," she responded. Loud whispers and gasps rippled through the hall. "How?" one of the female elders asked.

"My sister discovered corruption taking place within the council. She attempted to get my father's help and they killed him and framed her for the crime. When she approached me for help, we discovered that the corruption went deeper than just financial corruption. Four of the 5 members of the council and elders Dante here" she pointed at the elder on the far end, "were in league with a so-called leader of the rogues. Together they have spent over 3 decades kidnapping and experimenting on werewolves and vampires. We are still going over all of the documentation we have to determine if more people were involved." Dante tried to run, but Markus and Helios were on him before he could get very fast.

"Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce to you Alpha Helios of Guardian Moon and Alpha Markus of Crescent Moon. They are here with the European werewolf council, as well as the support of the American werewolf council. They have all seen the evidence of what I've just said. I will now let Crescent Moon's tech show you. Once you've seen the proof, we will continue with this conversation." She said as we sat on a set of chairs we had set up next to the steps to the throne chairs.

The lights dimmed and Evergreen was in his element. Our biggest piece of evidence was a recording of the meeting we had before we were hit with tranquilizers. Knowing they might pat us down, we had installed a recording device under the bumper of the rental car. Helios had remembered to retrieve it before they left Paris. Adrien had also placed his burner phone to record on the cliff. When everything was done, the hall had fallen into a shocked silence after watching their King and Queen die at the hands of the previous Queen. The biggest shock for them was watching as Kassie made everyone kneel. The video conveniently ended before they could see her transform into her wolf.

Kassie and I walked back in front of the elders when the lights came back on. I expected a lot of reactions except the one we got. One by one, most of the elders knelt in front of her. The entire hall followed suit.

3 elders remained standing. "I don't see the reason why you should rule. You are disgraced and stripped of your title. You may have been able to compel weak guards and council members, but that won't be the case with us. There is surely someone more suited for the crown than you and we will most certainly not be ruled by a werewolf." One of the elders spoke up and the remaining elders nodded despite the nervousness I could feel emanating from them when all of our people growled lowly at her words. Kassie only smiled and bared her teeth. "Will you challenge me for the throne then? Or will you ask my cousin to do so? As the closest living heir to the throne, it is my birthright to take it without the approval of the council unless I am challenged for it and lose." The remaining standing elders looked at each other and slowly, one by one, they too knelt before their new Queen. We had counted on Kassie's assassin reputation being enough of a deterrent to the challenge. Not that we didn't think she would win if one was stupid enough to challenge her. Kassie and I finally acknowledge everyone's pledge to their new King and Queen of the vampires. The werewolf council and our family and friends all bowed to us lightly as well. We looked at each other before we took the other's hand and headed up to the throne seats.

"Changes will need to occur, ladies and gentlemen," Kassie said once we'd walked up to the platform with the two throne seats. "For one, let me present to you your new King. My Beloved, and my fated mate, Gonzalo." She met every elder's eye to see if any would dare to disagree, when none did, she continued, "There will be no crowning ceremony. I will not celebrate ascending to the throne under these circumstances. The death of my sister, your previous Queen, will be mourned as the custom calls.

"There are some changes that will be taking place as soon as possible. I will be choosing a new council and while we search, we will be looking into every candidate with a magnifying glass. What was allowed to happen cannot happen again." She warned, while I felt a pang of sadness through the bond. I took her hand in mine and gave it a squeeze.

Next was the part that might not be received without resistance. "Once the council has been chosen, they will have new rules and responsibilities. I will not remain in Italy to rule." She said and waited until the whispers quieted down, "In fact, I don't expect to be anything more than a figure head and a policing branch of the council. We will take a page out of the moon goddess' other children. An American vampire council and a European Vampire council will be formed. They will each be in charge of their given hemisphere. They will report directly to me and my personal council. We will do routine checks on these council members to make sure that they are serving the vampire people with the vampire community in mind and not for personal agenda."

I beamed proudly as I saw each member recoil when she let her power flow outward and make eye contact with each of them, "Make no mistake elders. You may have treated me like trash for two hundred years and made me into a pariah among my own kind, but I am not without connections. I have eyes and ears everywhere and I have the support of the werewolf community. I see someone step out of line and I will take decisive and firm action. I am not my sister. I am not afraid of getting my hands dirty. Is that understood?"

Slowly, the elders nodded. One stood up. "If your highness will not reside in Italy, what happens with the Estate?"

"This has been a family home as well as a central gathering place for the council for hundreds of years. That will remain as such. I am putting Sabina Castagnoli in charge of the day to day maintenance of the Estate. Anything that you require for the council meetings, can be submitted through her. I will have personal contact with her in case of special requests. We will also be setting up an Estate somewhere in the northern states for the same purposes for the American Vampire Council." "And where will your highness reside?" One member asked.

"Wherever I please. This is the 21st century. Should you require an audience, set up a zoom meeting with my personal assistant." She motioned over to Adrien, who grinned at her wickedly.

"Any other questions?" When no one spoke, we stood up. "Very well, you're dismissed." The entire hall cleared out until only our friends and the werewolf council remained. Everything happened without me saying a single word and I was so f*****g proud of my

mate.

"f**k diggity! That was amazing." Danny yelled when we were finally sure we were alone. Kassie let out her breath and a short laugh as she sat back and shook off her heels.

"I hate being in charge already." She pouted and everyone laughed at her. She eyed Evergreen as he was putting away his equipment. "Evergreen, we can do all the background s**t from home, right?" she asked.

"Yes Kassii-eh. Should I be calling you Queen Kassie now?" He asked.

"Only if you want me to make you train with me," she threatened.

"Ehhh. Yes Kassie, I can do all the background checks from home. I can also reach out to that contact I made when I looked into you and get some info from there," Evergreen answered.

"Ehhh. That's not going to work." Adrien said awkwardly.

"Why?" I asked.

Adrien began to blush and then he started to get flustered. He suddenly disappeared and reappeared two rows of seats back. "Hey! I got your gift!" he said to Elias excitedly.

"You got a gift?" Helios asked Elias.

"I only discovered it yesterday, Alpha. When someone ran ahead and I thought Sebastian was going to punch him when he dropped in front of him without warning," Elias said, looking pointedly at Adrien.

"Back on topic, people" I said, looking at Adrien. I crossed my arms and looked at him expectantly. He became flustered once again and started mumbling. "Today Adrien."

Adrien placed his hand on his hip and wagged his finger at us. "Don't 'Today Adrien me'. Listen here. Kassie was too stubborn to ask for help. You were too stubborn to listen. You two were being so f*****g childish and what's worse, Kassie put a gag order on me! I heard Theo and Sebastian talking about Evergreen looking into what happened to Kassie and I just...gave him the help he needed." "You're italianunicorn548," Evergreen said, suddenly understanding.

Adrien shrugged. "Someone had to bring mom and dad together and I didn't have a twin to pull a parent trap so I improvised."

I sat down and put my head in my hands and couldn't help it. I started laughing. "Your username was italianunicorn548. The love of my life was given back to me by italianunicorn548. My life is better because of italianunicorn548," Was all I could say. Soon the entire room was laughing alongside me and Adrien was grumbling about it being a good idea at the time. "Goddess blessed us all with you Adrien. I don't know where my life would be without you." I told him and he finally looked pleased with the compliment. "Can we go home now?" Adrien asked, his face still visibly tired from yesterday's shift.

"Yes, as soon as we can get our hands on Gavin?" said the Irish council member. "He has many crimes to account for, including the destruction of a pack back home." Kassie nodded and instructed a guard to bring him out.

"We still have a few labs running in this hemisphere. If it's alright with you all, we could still use your help to dismantle them." Another council member asked. Helios nodded his head and they began to talk about timelines. I pulled Kassie onto my lap and whispered, "I love you so much." She smiled her beautiful smile and gave me a sweet kiss.
