Throughout the ride back to the hotel, Damian looked really tensed, like he had seen a ghost. I had the urge to say something, ask him questions but he looked agitated so I decided to hold back whatever I want to ask him.
We got to the hotel with the guards following behind us. What is going on?? We walked straight to the elevator and entered alone. The guards entered another one.
“What’s wrong Damian?” I asked when I could hold myself anymore.
“I’ll explain later.” He answered gruffly.
I decided not to push him to answer if he doesn’t want to. I can always ask him again later, when he has cooled down.
The elevator made a ding sound, indicating we had gotten to the penthouse. We got out of the elevator and walked towards the door. Damian opened it with his key card and we walked in.
I was surprised when I met Grey seated on a sofa. When did he get here??
“Boss…” He called out and stood up as soon as he saw Damian.
“Wait here Selina.” Damian said and left for the balcony with Grey,
What the hell is going on?? What is making him so alert?? I decided to listen to him and I waited in the room for him.
*******************************
“What’s wrong boss? Why the urgent meeting?” Grey asked.
“Mark’s alive.” Damian answered as he looked really unsettled.
Grey’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Are you sure boss??” Grey asked as he turned to stared at Damian.
“Yes. Selina saw him today, close to the restaurant we were eating.” Damian answered.
“Why are you so sure he is the one? What if Selina is wrong?” Grey asked.
“He is the one. The description fits him well. How many blue-eyed bonds with a mole on their left cheek do you know?” Damian asked.
“But it is impossible that he’s still alive. We watched him die in that fire three years ago.” Grey said, still filled with uncertainty.
“Did we really see him die?” Asked Damian.
“Yes. He was in the building when it exploded and he never came out.” Grey answered.
“Did we see his body to confirm his identity?” Damian asked again.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
“Even though we did, we won’t be able to tell who it was because it was burnt to ashes.” Grey answered.
“We could have conducted a DNA test. You assured me that he was dead. Why didn’t you tell me that you didn’t even see his body? You had a simple job but you couldn’t even do it properly.” Damian said angrily.
“I’m sorry boss. I saw a body that matched his body height and weight so I just concluded he was the one. I should have been more thorough.” Grey apologized.
“I blame myself for giving you a task as important as that. How are you going to take care of the aftermath now??” Damian said as he grabbed his head in frustration.
Grey fell on his knee and grabbed Damian’s trousers.
“I’m so sorry boss. I’ll do a better job this time. Whatever you order me to do, I’ll be more thorough.” Grey pleaded.
“You better. Stand up.” Damian ordered.
“Thank you boss.” Grey said as he stood up.
“First of all, double the security. Nobody goes in or out of this room without my consent. Even Selina.” He ordered.
“Yes boss.” Grey answered.
“Also, make sure that…….” His words were cut off when his phone started ringing.
He picked it out of his pocket and looked to see who was calling. It was unknown number. He was skeptical at first but decided to answer it because it wouldn’t stop ringing.
“Hello Damian.” The person at the other end said immediately Damian picked up the call.
The voice sounded familiar to Damian.
“Who’s this?” He asked.
“Don’t tell me you have forgotten already. We used to be best friends.” The man on the other end said.
“Mark.” Damian said when he finally recognized the voice.
“Mark???” Grey muttered as his eyes widened in shock.
“Bingo.” Mark answered with a dark chuckle.
“You’ve got some nerve in calling my phone Mark.” “What can I do? I just couldn’t miss the feeling I would get by seeing your face filled with fear.” Mark said.
“That is something you would never ever get to see as long as we are both alive.” Damian seethed as he clenched his fist angrily.
“Really?? You would think otherwise when you see the surprise I prepared for you.” Mark said.
“What nonsense are you talking about?” Damian asked.
“You’ll see.” Mark said before he ended the call.
Damian removed the phone from his ear and stared at it in a daze.
“What did he say?” Grey asked but Damian ignored him.
He was about to call Mark back when he suddenly heard Selina’s scream. He didn’t waste anytime and ran back into the room.
He saw Selina standing in front of the opened wardrobe.
“What’s wrong?” He asked with worry written all over his face.
“L…. look.” Selina stuttered as she pointed at the wardrobe shakily.
Damian’s heart almost stopped when he saw the time bomb in the wardrobe. It was counting down already and they had just two minutes before it goes off.
“It’s going to explode. We need to leave now.” Grey said when he saw the bomb.
Damian grabbed Selina’s hands and pulled her with him out of the penthouse while Grey trailed closely behind them. They entered into the elevator and pressed the button for the down floor.
They got to the lobby and were about to leave the building when the bomb went off. Selina screamed and bowed her head in fear when she heard the loud sound. Damian instinctively covered her ear so she wouldn’t hear the sound anymore.
The people around them screamed and ran away in fear. Luckily, the bomb only went off in the penthouse. Damian held Selina and they walked out of the penthouse.
When they had finally gotten to a safe place, Damian’s phone rang. It weas the same unknown number.
“How was the surprise? How did it feel to be almost blown into pieces” Mark asked.
“You’ll pay for this Mark.” Damian muttered in anger.
“No need to get angry yet, this is just the beginning. I’ll make you suffer like you did three years ago. I’ll make sure that this time, there will be no loved one to save you. I’ll make sure everyone you love is dead and gone, starting with your best friend.” Mark said before the call was disconnected.
Damian called him back but the call was disconnected automatically. He stooped calling when he got a call from Felix but he wasn’t the one that answered. It was a female’s voice.
“Who’s this?” Damian asked.
“I’m a nurse in Peace Central Hospital. Are you a relative of Felix?” The lady asked.
“Yes, what’s wrong?” Damian asked as he started to feel anxious little by little.
“I called to let you know that Felix was involved in a car accident.”
