Chapter 120 The Truth
Chapter 120 The Truth
After knocking the door for a long time, someone finally came to open it.
Harriet looked inside and found a middle-aged woman looked at them in astonishment, "You are…"
It seemed obvious that she didn't met her before.
"Hello, aunt. I am a friend of Aya and I came here to visit her." Harriet said and gave her a wink:
This woman must be Aya's relative because they looked similar. Anyway, I need to be friendly at first
and acted according to circumstances.
The woman was stupefied and had deep-seated faith in Harriet's words. She answered in relief, "Well,
you are her friend. Thank you for coming here on purpose. But Aya is in a bad mood now and doesn't
want to see anyone."
Harriet hurriedly said, "No problem. I can just get in and have a look. It's ok if she doesn't want to talk to
me."
"Well…"
A chaotic voice came from the room, "Mom, who's that?"
Harriet recognized that it was Aya at once.
The girl was thin and paled as expected, as if she got a big sick. Besides, her eyes looked dim,
however, she wasn't unconscious.
"Aya, I am Harriet."
Hearing the voice of Harriet, Aya stared up her eyes, "What are you doing here?"
She rushed towards Harriet and wanted to ripped her, however, she didn't make it because Len
blocked in the way.
"What do you want to do?" Len spoke with the force of justice.
Aya stopped and laughed wretchedly, "What? Do you also want to hurt me after seeing that I am in
such a pathetic situation?"
Harriet said in a placid mood, "Calm down. I just want to ask you something. I will try if you want me to
compensate you."
As if hearing a joke, Aya answered, "What, compensate? Can you bring back my dad?"
Harriet stiffed. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Hearing what they were talking, Aya's mother got the point and interrupted them, "Wait. Are you going
to enquire her dad's things?"
Harriet could only talk with the relatively calmer one when seeing Aya was unwilling to communicate,
"Yes, aunt. My name is Harriet and I am Colin's sister. Actually, I want to figure out my brother's
situation and what happened on that day."
"It's you!" Mrs. Watson's face suddenly changed, but she didn't get angry at first, instead, she told Aya
to get back to her room in a poker face.
"Mom, what are you going to talk about with this girl? It is her brother who has killed my dad and ruined
me!" Aya roared.
Mrs. Watson said coldly, "Just go back to your room. I am going to talk with her about this."
Aya stormed to her room when finding that her mother didn’t want to take her advice.
Seeing her daughter get into the room, Mrs. Watson turned around. A deep hatred showed in her eyes,
and then…
"Clap". Mrs. Watson slapped Harriet with full strength.
"You!" Len raised up his voice in astonishment.
On the other side, Harriet was incredibly calm. She had expected that she would be treated by the
Watson Family in this way. No matter what, it was true that her brother had involved Aya's father into
trouble and it was understandable that her mother slapped her.
"How dare you come to visit her?" Mrs. Watson sneered, and then she laughed wryly, "Well, how dare
you not? Our family doesn't have any power or strength."
"Aunt, I am not coming here today to argue with you." Harriet answered calmly.
After slapping her, Mrs. Watson seemed slightly calmed down and let Harriet come inside. They finally
decided to talk with each other.
Although Aya already started her entertainment career, she didn't graduate from university yet. She
was in the same school with Colin, and they were in a good relationship.
On the day when the accident happened, Colin was in a bad mood and happened to meet Aya's father,
who was working as a taxi driver. At that time, Aya proposed her father to give him a ride, however, Aya
got off the car midway because the cast's emergent call. When she got the news, her father had
passed away.
Harriet felt both shocked and helpless for them after hearing their story. The world was such a weird
and small place. She was diametrically opposed to Aye, while her brother was a friend of her. How
dramatical was that!
"That's all the truth I have known." Mrs. Watson picked out a voice recorder after finishing her words,
"That's the recording we found from her dad before his car falling down the cliff. The phone was
smashed, so that's all the information the police could copy."
When she was saying, she played the recording and Mr. Watson's anxious and terrified voice came.
"I don't know what's happening. A car suddenly appears and wants to hit us. I'm afraid a car accident
will happen…Aya, I have already told your classmate to jump off the car. Although I have slowed down
when he jumped, I don’t know whether he gets hurt or not. I think the car which hits us is coming for
him, so I decide to let him go first. After I get rid of them…Ah!"
Then there was a series of noise from the recording and nothing could be heard afterwards.
Harriet thought the reason why Mr. Watson died was because he was involved in these things, but she
never thought that he saved the chance of survival for her brother and allured those people to leave.
"Well, that means someone is aiming at my brother?" Harriet whispered, a thousand thoughts flashing
her mind.
The door of the bedroom suddenly opened and Aya shouted at her, "You're too selfish! My dad died
because of your brother. But all you care about is who is aiming at your brother! Is there someone who
cares about my dad…He shouldn’t let Colin leave and should let him die together!"
Harriet didn't say anything.
Compared to Aya's hysteria, Mrs. Watson behaved extremely calm, "Well, you have already known the
truth. My husband is died because he wanted to save your brother. At first, I wanted to engage in a
lawsuit to get mote truth. But there was a group of people who threatened me and I know I shouldn't
keep investigating. If I didn’t do so, my daughter and I will suffer more hardship."
Harriet frowned, "So you mean…"
Mrs. Watson finally showed her purpose, "I know there's some kindness left of you. If I slap you but you
return me back, you won’t get any information from me. But should you compensate up if you have
conscience? If you can give us some money, I can provide you with more information."
Harriet knew Mrs. Watson would ask for indemnity. She seemed to be plain and sincere, however, she
was clever and astute because she didn't expel her when she knew her identity.
Any favorable information came with a prize. Harriet knew this rule after staying a long time in the
entertainment industry.
"How much do you want? I will give you as long as I can afford."
After a discussion, Harriet and Len decided to give them a house.
Mrs. Watson's requirement was within her expectation. Their family needed a large sum of money. Aya
spent a lot after she got blind and went to the hospital for treatment. It was good for her to be able to
see a little and could go back to her room on her own. However, the afterwards treatment required
more money.
If it were not her daughter, Mrs. Watson would expel Harriet as soon as possible and wouldn't discuss
conditions with her.
After getting on Len's car, Harriet brought out her phone and called Wesley.
The other side picked up the phone after a few seconds and Harriet asked directly, "Mr. Smith, are you
available now?"
However, a sluggish woman's voice came from the other side of the phone, "I am sorry. Mr. Smith is
taking a shower…What? Are you Harriet?"
Hearing this voice, Harriet's fingers couldn’t help shivering.
She was familiar with this voice and knew it was Irene.
Irene's tone became flustered. She replied in a humming and hawing way, "I am, I am sorry. There's
nothing happen between me and Mr. Smith. Don't mistake about me, Harriet. We are just…no, I mean
Mr. Smith is in the company now and you can come after to visit him. You will find things are not as you
expected when you arrive!"
Her incoherent words told Harriet that she was with Wesley and they were doing something.
Well, Irene was covering things up.
