Dear Ex-wife Marry Me

Chapter 2006

The more pitiful Mark appeared, the angrier Shirley got.

With Mark's personality, an apology was out of the question, especially since he had long felt there was something suspicious about the duo.

When the bar manager retrieved the surveillance footage and began watching the recent video frame by frame, Shirley and Abner looked completely normal, at least from what could be seen in the footage. Moreover, the scene Mark had twisted was, upon review in the surveillance, just a regular moment.

A flash of panic crossed Mark's eyes as he glanced at Shirley out of the corner of his eye.

Shirley, clearly knowing the video held nothing incriminating, scoffed.

Mark pursed his lips, casting his gaze downward, "Shirley, let's stop this nonsense. Let's get back together."

This had been their longest separation after numerous breakups and makeups.

As soon as he finished his plea, Abner felt a tightness in his heart, his face slightly changing as he looked at Shirley, as if ready to burst into tears at any sign of her wavering.

Mark continued, "I've thought a lot. I never really gave Jessica a chance because it's always been you I liked the most. Seriously, let's end this drama. If you come back to me, I'll marry you right away." Shirley took a step back, "Mark, I think you need to get your head checked."

Mark's eyes instantly reddened, "Do you remember back in high school, when you stood up to answer a question and everyone started whispering? They all knew we liked each other but we never made it official. I admit, in college, I thought about really breaking up, but every time I remembered those moments, I couldn't let go. Those were real scenes we lived through together. The thought of you with someone else hurts. I know I've been immature, making things difficult for you, but isn't a relationship about growing together?"

Shirley remained silent. She had never made their disputes too ugly, not involving Mark's family, because those memories were too precious.

Her silence made Abner even more anxious. Initially feeling smug, his confidence shattered as Mark shamelessly recounted their past, a Shirley he hadn't known, a past he hadn't been a part of.

His face paled, forehead beading with sweat as the fear of being left behind gripped him like a vice.

Was Shirley going to leave him?

His lips trembled, desperately clutching a piece of Shirley's clothing.

With the alcohol fogging her senses, Shirley's mind wandered back to those high school days.

Mr. James was her teacher, and Shirley had always been hardworking, relishing those years of struggle and joy.

Her tight lips finally relaxed, a hint of a smile appearing in her eyes.

Mark, seeing a glimmer of hope, took a deep breath.

"Shirley, it's been eight years. Even if I've been a jerk, you know I'd never cheat. You know me; I have my limits. I was blind before. Please come back. I truly like you.

Having laid his feelings bare, he no longer cared about losing face. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

The more Shirley remained silent, the more terrified Abner became. "Shirley..."

Don't leave me behind.
