Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Chapter 154

A fear gripping at my throat that if I close my eyes once, she'll slip away from me.

"Alpha...dry clothes," Ezra walks in, his voice trailing off when his eyes fall upon Kaia, "Thanks Ezra..."

"I can sit with her if you want to go back and rest..."

""No, I can't leave her."

"I'll mind-link you if there's any change. She seems stable now.."

"No, the doctor said it would be a rough night...that she might not..." I can't even say the words.

"Alpha..."

"I've done everything wrong, found her too late. I wasn't ready for her...my heart was so angry still from everything.

Than... Medea...my Father, my Mum's death...all I wanted was for them to feel an ounce of anger I had felt all my life.

She was like a ray of light, a gift from the moon goddess but I was so hell-bent on saving Alora, that I've let Kaia slip right through my fingers.

She was there, in my pack...in my house. Now it's too late." My memory goes back to the time Kala entered the coffee shop, and I feel stupid thinking I held all the cards... that I was the one tricking her. When she was the one that had tricked me from day one. Using me and my pack to find details on

Beckett.

"She's a fighter. Keep your faith Alpha. I have a feg she doesn't even know how special she is." Ezra's hushed tones try to bring me comfort.

"You're right about that." She really didn't know how special she was. I don't think she had even been told of the white wolf fairytale, Beckett no doubt keen to protect her...even from herself.

"Alora has requested to see her.." Ezra starts but I cut him off,

"No...not right now."

"She's being quite insistent."

"In the morning..."

"Alpha if this is her last night. Her sister should be allowed to say goodbye to her also.." Ezra has a point, and although I can't fathom the idea of Kaia not making the night, I nod my head. He was right, Alora should be able to see her twin. I'm surprised when the same doctor returns into the room to check on Kaia's stats, he hadn't rested either, he hadn't gone home.

We don't talk, but my body leaps from my seat when her heart rate starts to slow down...and he presses the emergency button, his horror-filled eyes darting to me.

-

Seconds later more medical staff enter, pushing past me in trying to get their luna, I suppose now alpha, through the night.

"Do something, save our mate." My wolf growls in my mind. A nurse pulls out the paddles and my heart. leaps out of my chest.

I wasn't ready..

"Don't you dare leave me Kaia, you hear me...you will not leave me." My command is thick as I let it roll over her.

But it has no effect on her...she was fading away...I can feel it..

My only option was....NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

I will not lose her.

I push the staff away, pulling her up by the back of her neck and lower back gaining good access to her neck.

"Do it." My wolf growls, pushing through the barriers as he sinks my teeth into her soft yet cold skin... marking her as ours.

My teeth push through flesh and I retract as soon as I hit bone. A moan escapes me as I grip on to her tighter, before running my tongue to clear up the small trickle of blood. Alora screams out at me, cursing me for taking away her sister's choice.

I feel part of the mate bond strengthen, that magnetic pull to her only intensifying.

I watch as the heart monitor comes back to life.

"I don't believe it...she may just survive the night..." The doctor gasps out as his eyes dart to me.
