Chapter 1084: So Dog
The deep, endless night of the prairies heightens the fear and danger.
Nico sped past and drove about ten or twenty miles before he saw a wolf with a greenish glow atop a depression.
And not far from the coyote’s blind spot of vision was a thin, trembling woman.
It’s Micaela.
Even through the haze of the night, Nico is unmistakable.
Nico’s heart was pounding, almost up to his throat.
Just as the wolf jumped and was about to rush down the hill, Nico turned on his high beams and took aim at the wolf, which was distracted by the blinding light and lunged at Nico’s buggy with its hind legs stomped to the ground.
With his hand raised over his rifle and aiming out the window, Nico took aim at the wolf just as it jumped and hit it with unerring accuracy.
The wolf let out a long howl into the night and its leaping body fell to the grass, where it lay breathless.
Nico opened the door, dropped the gun and jumped out of the car, running at a brisk pace toward the ravine.
It’s only a few minutes away, but Nico looks like he’s not going to make it there in his life.
Even his breathing was out of place as he ran toward Micaela.
During his IO training, his fitness, at level 3S, was at its highest, not so nauseating as to be out of breath even for a few minutes in the hills and meadows.
He was going mad with impatience.
Micaela cowered in the hollow like a puppet, motionless, as if standing still, while her face, white as if she had been very ill, and the cold sweat that kept slipping down her forehead, signaled the great fear in her heart.
Nico took a deep breath and took a big step up, hugging her tightly.
He felt the person in his arms, her body as rigid as if she were about to die, but with a steady, subtle, high frequency of shivers.
She was fragile as porcelain and Nico leaned down, lowered his thin lips to her forehead and kissed her hard.
Like a quiet reassurance.
Hugging for a long time.
Nico’s heart, hanging in his throat, fell back into his chest as he reached out and brushed the cold sweat soaked hair behind Micaela’s ears, his voice softly reassuring, “Don’t be afraid, I’ve already shot the wolf.
Micaela was unable to come back to her senses for a long time, her gaze was cold, her body dulled by the fear of death for too long, her mind dulled as well.
Micaela could say nothing.
All she could do was let Nico hold her, sucking the breath of life and the hope of living into him.
Nico reached out and grabbed the back of her neck, pulling her whole head into his warm chest and letting her feel the scent of life.
Micaela’s whole body was deflated, but trembling, she reached out and squeezed Nico’s shoulder shirt, the bones on the back of her hand sticking out too hard.
It was like gripping the fabric, as if it were a piece of driftwood, so hard that my fingers went numb with pain.
After a long while, Micaela opened her mouth and bit down hard on Nico’s shoulder, and the tears she had been holding back came gushing out.
There was a long, silent cry, and then Micaela let out a loud cry.
Nico’s heart, about to break from crying so hard.
He reached out and touched Micaela’s trembling back, stroking it closely, one by one, precious to the core.
Now he was remorseful and wanted to kill himself.
Nico took her chin and went to kiss her tears and her lips, dominant and warm, wanting to give Micaela all the reassurance she needed.
Micaela was crying so hard, up and down, as if she was going to cry all the tears of her life in one night.
Nico couldn’t take any more kisses, his forehead pressed against hers and his fingers kept gently wiping away her tears.
He looked into her red eyes and couldn’t help but grit his teeth and curse to himself, “I must be fucking sick to leave you alone in such a dangerous place, Micaela, I’m sorry, I’m the bastard.”
Micaela wouldn’t stop crying, she cried even more, like aggrieved, like in shock after a robbery.
Fear, sadness, aggravation … those five flavors of emotions, in full force right now.
Nico was overwhelmed; it was the first time he knew that Micaela’s tears could be so many.
And all for him, all for him.
The contradictory feelings of wanting to kill myself, yet being proud of it, have never been more overlaid with sadness, anguish and yet relief.
Finally, NicoSavanna’s warm gaze upon her, as she gently wiped away her tears with her fingers, coaxed her with a soft whisper, “The wolf is dead, don’t be afraid, Micaela, I’m here and I won’t leave you behind again.”
He won’t.
It was at that moment that Nico made up his mind that no matter how much Micaela would fail him in the future, he would never leave her behind and he would never let her feel so sad and scared again.
Nico hugged Micaela, so tight as to strangle her in his bones and blood, finally sighed in her ear, as if helpless and loving, and spoke one word at a time, “Micaela, really, I can’t do anything anymore, don’t cry, ok?”.
Her heart, about to choke with pain.
I really don’t know what to do and how Micaela can stop crying.
In his twenty-eight years of life, Nico had never felt so overwhelmed and helpless.
He thought that a man like him, born in Rome, would not have moments when he could not help himself and be helpless, but now he realizes that Micaela is his difficult and inescapable containment.
She does not love him, but he, nevertheless, is willing to sink and walk into a trap.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
I will never be able to walk in that circle again.
Nico’s big arms were around her, whispering in her ear, coaxing her for how many times….
“Micaela, don’t cry.”
“I shouldn’t have left you.”
“Micaela, don’t cry anymore, okay?”
…
After saying I don’t know how many times, Nico said, “I was wrong, I was really wrong”.
Then the dog.
