Don't Try to Escape, My Wife!

Chapter 1823: A Smart Woman

Chapter 1823: A Smart Woman

“Shut up!”

Hearing Lucas’s familiar voice shocked Michele.

This made no sense at all.

Michele found it hard to believe the beautiful woman in front of her was Lucas in disguise.

She was in awe and the way she stared at Lucas made him feel uncomfortable. So he said, “Stop

screaming, and I will let go of you.”

Michele nodded immediately.

Lucas let her go.

To be honest, it was a struggling challenge for Lucas to wear women’s attire. He tugged at the collar as

if doing so would help avoid himself from getting out of breath.

Michele was still staring at Lucas in astonishment and swallowed.

Goodness!

This was the first time she saw a man dressed up as a woman, not to mention that Lucas looked

awesome!

“Lucas, are you into cosplay?”

Lucas glanced at her, and then looked outside from the window. He noticed some unknown faces were

setting up stalls.

Even though they seemed like they were setting things up, they were actually all looking straight into

Yasmeen’s room. They didn’t look like ordinary small businessmen.

Lucas squinted slightly, and said at ease, “How was your detoxification going?”

“I just get started. It’s going to take a while.”

Michele saw Lucas looking down from the window, she decided to keep her thoughts to herself. She

figured Lucas was doing so to look out for Yasmeen, but she still felt a bit bitter at heart.

How come all the good guys that she had a crush on were in love with other women?

Michele was a bit depressed, but there weren’t any struggles. After all, it wasn’t meant to be for her. It

would be better to focus only on what you could do rather than what you want. Because there were

things you might never get no matter how hard you fight for them.

“Are you here to see Yasmeen, Lucas?”

“I am. She’s having surgery tomorrow. If you can, help me check on her some time.”

What Lucas said did take Michele by surprise.

“You won’t stay to keep her company?”

“I’ve got other plans.”

Lucas wasn’t used to explaining everything to her, nor would he do so now. And for Michele, she never

needed his explanation. She was always a good listener for him.

“I will go over to accompany her.”

“I appreciate it. You take care of yourself, too.”

Finally, Lucas said something caring looking at Michele’s pale face.

And that brought a smile to Michele’s face.

“Thank you, Lucas. I will be well.”

“Edison will be back shortly. And I am leaving soon to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings. Don’t tell

anyone that you have seen me here today. You got it?”

“Alright.”

Michele nodded, however, she was a bit disappointed.

Lucas gazed around to make sure it was safe and he exited the room.

Kylie looked at her watch and whispered, “You were in there for five minutes. That wasn’t a short period

of time.”

“Come on, Kylie.”

Lucas felt a bit speechless.

He understood that Kylie and Yasmeen were great friends. But nothing was going on between Michele

and him. Why did Kylie have to time him like that?

Kylie didn’t care how Lucas would feel about that. There was no warmth in what she said, “I assume

you are aware of how much Yasmeen has put herself out there for you. And if you wronged her, I would

come after you.”

“I am aware, but I won’t.”

If it were someone else, Lucas wouldn’t even bother to say anything like this at all. No one should

come in between Lucas and Yasmeen to tell them what they should do with their relationship. But the

person in front of him here was Kylie, who was likely to be his future sister-in-law. He had to give her

some reassurance no matter how much he would prefer not to. And Lucas’s serious look seemed to

have convinced Kylie, and she just let him be.

Kylie dropped Lucas off at a place he had designated after they got out of the hospital. Before she left,

she looked Lucas in the eyes and said with a lower voice, “It’s been a whole day since Joseph

contacted me. Did something happen to him?”

What she said astounded Lucas.

Not being in contact for a day equaled to getting in trouble?

Was it some sort of safety code between Kylie and his elder brother, Joseph?

Thinking of this, Lucas decided not to say anything yet. But when he was looking at Kylie wondering

about what the proper things were to say, Kylie smiled at him and said, “Tell Joseph I would be waiting

for his return. And please bring him back safely. Okay?”

“Okay.”

Lucas was gratified.

Kylie was a very smart woman. NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

Smart women made things easier to deal with, and in a pleasant way.

Kylie didn’t stay any longer. She drove away.

Not until Kylie was out of sight did the people step outside from the dark.

“Young Master.”

Lucas responded to them flatly. He took a set of outfits from his subordinates, replaced the female

ones, and said, “Get a bunch of our ace fighters and follow along.”

“Copied that.”

Lucas and his team of fighters arrived at the villa’s location speedily.

The villa seemed like an easy target from the surveillance cameras. But now that they were

somewhere nearby, they discovered that every inch of the villa was protected by an infrared security

system with thermal detectors.

This place was well equipped. Lucas didn’t find this surprising at all. Well, it would be so if there wasn’t

any insider taking care of it.

“Get someone to find out where the thermal detecting system came from.”

A volunteer took the task quietly as soon as Lucas ordered.

If the thermal detectors were from the military compound, even if they were write-offs, there must be

traceable labels and imprints.

Lucas wanted to confirm whether his conjecture was right.

The rest of the team seemed worried though.

“Young Master, how should we get in there now? We should have no problem dodging the infrared

system. But how do we get past the thermal detectors?”

Lucas lightly squeezed his brows.

No wonder the villa wasn’t guarded. There was no way anyone could get past the thermal detecting

system.

However, a solution came to Lucas immediately. He whispered, “We should all put on isolation gowns.”

The isolation gowns designed by the Green Group had the function of regulating body temperature. But

this high-tech product was still in the testing stage. It wasn’t launched or available in the market yet.

Another volunteer went ahead to pick up the isolation gowns as soon as Lucas said so.

Shortly afterward, more than a dozen sets of isolation gowns were delivered. Lucas was planning to

take the lead. He passed the gowns down to the rest of them and said, “I will go in there before you as

the guinea pig. Once I get to pass the system, you all follow along with me quietly.”

“Young Master, I should go in first instead.”

A smaller man was trying to stop him.

“You are our leader. But if you get caught, we won’t be able to follow through with our plan. I’m

different, though. I am a nobody. And Young Master, if the safety system caught me, please take the

rest of everyone out of here without me.”

This guy stood out and surprised Lucas. Lucas had to ask, “What is your name?”

“James Adams!”

“You got it, James Adams! Be safe!”

Lucas agreed to James’s request.

James was not tall. He was wearing the isolation gown and went to the doorway cautiously. After

making sure it was safe enough, he climbed over the wall nimbly and got in.

Once James got in thoroughly, Lucas told everyone in a lower voice, “Follow along.”

Lucas was the next one in after James. At the same time, Joseph stood up all of a sudden with his

eyes squinted and came over to the French window like he was telepathic with Lucas.
